    In this adorable video you "yada-yada'd" the part where you said for a combo device (Arris BGW-210 that comes with AT&T in my case) you recommend turning off the Router part of the existing "Combo" router/modem. Meaning?? Turn of its Wi-Fi'ing, of course. But is there also a Firewall change to something called "IP Passthrough" that is also part of "turning off the router?" thx (I ask because I have a Wyze Mesh Pro on the way and I really want this to go smoothly.)

    • @wyze
      @wyze 8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. That should just pass the public IP address from the modem side of your combo device to your Wyze Mesh Router. When IP Passthrough is fully enabled, it should mean that the firewall/router portion of the combo device is fully disabled, and it's now only a modem again.

  • @JasonBonsall
    @JasonBonsall Год назад +2

    I've followed the instructions and the mesh router kind of works. It provides a wifi signal to nearby devices, but it's not the same network as my home network that it's plugged into. Yes, I gave it the same name and password, but devices connecting to my at&t home modem/router do not interact with devices connected to the wyze mesh. They have different IP addresses, and it's just not extending the original network--it's creating a new one with the same name. When I move through the house, I have to disconnect my phone and reconnect to switch host routers.

      Hi there! A flashing red light isn't listed as one of the standard status light indicators. However, a flashing orange light indicates that the router is booting up, and a rapidly flashing orange light indicates that a factory reset via the pinhole method has been initiated. If you're seeing a red light, it could be a solid orange light which means the internet connection has been lost.

    • @wyze
      @wyze 2 месяца назад

      Hi there! The Wyze Mesh Router needs to connect to the internet provided by your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) to function. Without an active internet service, the router cannot perform its primary function of routing internet traffic to your devices. Our Mesh Router needs to be connected to a modem to access the internet service provided by your ISP.
      During the initial setup, a smartphone is used to configure the Mesh Router through the Wyze app. The mobile data service ensures that your smartphone can download the Wyze app and receive updates, as well as help avoid potential conflicts with Wi-Fi networks during the setup process.
      These components work together to create a network that allows your Wyze Mesh Router to provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.

    • @lordtorka

      @wyze Год назад

      We got you! Insert a paper clip or similar into the reset pinhole for 15 seconds. Wyze Mesh Router’s status light will flash orange rapidly to indicate that a reset is in progress. Once the router goes into a booting cycle and when the LED starts to flash white, proceed to set up the router like new in the Wyze app.
      If you don't have a paper clip, you can do this from the app. While the router is online, navigate to the router’s settings in the Wyze app > Advanced Settings > Factory Default > Reset. Wyze Mesh Router’s status light will flash orange rapidly to indicate that a reset is in progress. Once the router goes into a booting cycle and when the LED starts to flash white, proceed to set the router up like new in the Wyze app here. I hope this helps! 😀

    Whoa you can’t just go from plugging it in and skip thru to “hey it’s set up and now put in a name and password”.
    You skipped over the part where it loops for hours not finding and trying to get an IP address off the modem and assuming you know anything about DHCP/static/PPPOE info to continue set up.
    Then each option leads no where and then times out and force closes to app so you have to start over… and repeat….

    Setup does not go this smooth bought one unit and had issues connecting...returned it and got another which is what solved it for some ppl in the forums..however still had issues...contacted "support" which seems to be a 3rd party indian based company because they seemed to be running through a prompt. Right off the bat I state most answers that a tech is going to ask me and have run most troubleshooting measures. But i would still get asked irrelevant questions. For instance, i was asked if my phone had bluetooth capability and if the app had those permissions. Duhh. My phone is obviously finding the routher like I had already stated but I was being taken to a screen to enter info manually. So why waist time in the chat asking the obvious. I was ultimately told a ticket would be opened. Ive always had connectivity issues with wyze products. I just want to like this company for some reason I guess because I see the potential but they need more focus on connectivity, ease of setup and perhaps US based support. Ill be a darn consultant if you guys need..seems like wyze is looking for new products and new features but are getting lost from the basics of customer service. I dont want inept reps, or tickets or language barriers just fas6 and quick real solutions. At this point im ready to return and sell all my 9 wyze cameras and this router. Wasting paying for unlimited camera features when they're offline half the time. And wyze dont bother replying sorry for the inconvenience lets open another ticket..a real solution please
