I'm not for or against ear cropping. Personally, I think they look better cropped. I don't know the impact it has on the dog. It's illegal in the UK, where I am. I'm wondering what the justification for doing it is. Are there benefits to the dog?
We use both a clicker and verbals. Clickers are great and crystal clear, but your opetions are binary, click or no click. With verbals you can also use other words to let the dog know it did exactly what you want, or you like what it is doing but it's not quite what you want, or the action is definitely not what you're looking for, or even a verbal correction. You can use both, but the dog knowing verbals is important too. Plus, nobldy keeps a clicker on them 100% the time they are training their dog. You may be on a walk, or just sitting around the house when you want to praise or correct the dog. DIYK9.com is where you can learn this in detail, along with everything to train your dog from obedience to fully off leash trained. I think a dog off leash is the best life for a dog myself. Think about when you were a kid. Your parents kept you within arms length which did not allow you much freedom, but as you learned and they trusted you to behave as taught and with manners, you were allowed more freedom to just be a kid. It's the same with a dog. Without being off leash trained, the dog can never fully experience life as a dog becuase it is in the fenced in yard, or on a leash. Off leash trained dogs can be kept in a heel position, and when you are in the areas you trust the dog to just run and roam (within reason), they can do so, and you know you can recall them at will, and they will return. It really opens up the dogs world.
Reach out via email to info@diyk9.com. They can talk to you about various dog breeds, your lifestyle and activity level, and pair you with breeds that will fit you and the dog's energy levels and exercise requirements. Everybody would be unhappy if the match wasn't correct. If they have breeders they recommend, they can let you know.
I don’t know who is more cute Bentley or your daughter so funny how she comes in and steals the scene .
beautiful Amstaff
Yea he's a handsome boy. I'll have to do a follow-up video with him when he's fully grown. I'm interested to see how he turns out.
How long do you work with a dog per day? Or how many sessions a day and how long for each is recommended?
2-5 sessions 5-30 minutes. It all depends. But at least twice a day for 15 minutes is a good place to start. Sometimes more sometimes less.

I don’t have a place board so I used my ottoman 😅
Do you recommend a first time dog owner/trainer to use a clicker?
