I think he rarely wins any of these fights because his stats just suck. His absorption is very low for all damage types except fire (about half of Gael's across the board) and his attacks while varied deal pretty low damage (makes sense if his fight is designed to draw out to let you see all his movesets.)
He would've done better using his poison I think. I actually don't know for certain. I just imagine his poison and Power Within might have fixed his damage output.

Soul of Cinder is all spectacle. He's not a boss really trying to kill you. Neither is Gael to be honest. The only boss in this game that's actively trying to push your shit in deep, is Champion Gundyr. He doesn't care if you got something in your eye. There aren't any timeouts. He'll punch you in the throat, stab you twice because you're too damn scared to move and he knows it. As you're throwing up following a body slam right into your solar plexus, snapping your spine like a box of uncooked noodles, you try to drink that last estus flask, trembling against your lips, just in time to see him jump in the air the moment you hit square. That boss wants to murder you and your whole family. Your survival rate increases if your family is nearby because he'd want to kill you last. That fucking theme too... nnf. Sorry, but compared to the murderous hatred pouring into that fight, Soul of Cinder is a theme park ride, and Gael is at best a ballroom dance. Both fun, but Gundyr gives me life. He's what I want to see from Dark Souls. More evil fucking music like that too please. It's twisted and sadistic, I love it. Tsukasa Saitoh, have my babies. This guy made the Cleric Beast theme, Bloodstarved Beast and Gherman, the First Hunter themes. Can you tell? lol

Best looking attack sequence in the game, overhead slam into a flip while unloading his auto crossbow finishing the flip with a slam, into another flipping slam
Wish they would update Soul Of Cinder with an AI that actually knows how to fight, like aggressive as hell and calculated that he doesn't used THE FUCKING MAGE FORM to fuck around and only necessary and there is so much unused moves, combos and sets in him that you can actually use the great sword set or gwyns set earlier than second phase. And this would be a massacre as Soul Of Cinder can parry everyone even bosses and toy with them for good measure, never forget, this was chosen undead before he linked the fire and countless others to keep the fire alive. Heck even the title of "Lord of Casual" is one. And parry king is also one.

I get that it goes with the theme of the flame dying and the dark growing stronger. But the soul of cinder needs a buff. He's far to weak now compared to the bosses of the DLC. Or if time shifts and isn't constant like with the dregg heap. They could make another expansion where you get to witnesses the battle with Gwyn and the dragons. But it matches the lore though. The game establishes Magic has been dying over time as interpretation and memory corrupts the essence of gods and this is like thousands of years after the last games. That’s why the very same spells are echos of their former selves.

Also, while I agree that spells in the first game were broken (dark bead), leaving an entire mechanic and class in the game that is so underpowered feels like bad game design. I say this because the first Dark Souls was revolutionary for its multiple ways of attacking the challenge of the game. I love DS3, but I've only slogged through a few pure caster builds. The rest have always had some dex or str component and it feels limited.

I want a video that shows one by one how SoC does against a boss using just one form. Each form has his total health for each round. I'm betting his pyromancer form performs the best. As for his sorcery form, it may not be so bad if he commits to it, part of the flaw is switching on the fly, and sometimes at the worst time.

It was also ng+8 but I don't think that has to do with anything. They're health still scales the same as if it were just name game i think.
Don't forget that Nameless King also fought Gael with 4x HP and the result was the same, so losing to Gael isn't something to be embarrassed about.

The Soul of Cinders polished and rhythmic techniques, taken from 1000's of wielders, held there own against the acrobatic and feral style of the Slave Knight who had had to best all but him, volleys of bolts and farron hail sorceries collided mid air, Flash swords connected with possessed cloak, soul streams withstood and parted by blade and cloak, Flames and Shadow colliding, Black flames exploding in the aftermath, Cinder was losing, the overwhelming Dark slowly enveloping the flickering flame, he must pull from his deepest memory
The First Lord of Cinder
The Flames inside him exploded outward, momentarily driving the dark back, knocking the Slave Knight off guard, he advanced swiping faster, harder, the blade ignitingthe air, driving the beast back, landing tremendous blows as it tried to dance between them, it was winning...... for a while
The Slave Knight had a final trick up his sleeve
The beast,like he did, exploded with power, the dark soul seeping out of him, summoning lightning to weaken Cinder, he was on the back foot again, his attacks became more brutal, easily diving between his blows and striking him back with blade or stroms of bolts, lighting or crossbow, he could feel his flame being taken by the dark
They traded blows, no longer trying to defend themselves, Gaels cloak being singed and burnt by the burning blade, Cinders armour blackened and dented by the Dark infused blade, they traded 9ne final blow each
The Knight stood weary, but alive, Cinder fell to his knees, the cinders across his body fading, the remnants of the flame appearing in his outstretched hand as he fell onto his chest, a boot pressed against his helmet, a blackened hand slowly reached down to the flame, the dark dripping on the flame corrupting it, changing it to the Dark, he watched as the eclipsed sun was crept across by blackness, everything went Dark
Everything was Darkness

Love the stat intro. That is a really nice touch
The issue is soul of cinder does so much less damage then Gael, especially in the 3rd phase. He also didn’t use any of his better attacks.
You do know soul of cinder had 4x the hp... right ?
@@s8theninjawarrior916 Yeah but he insisted on using sorcery, which is one of the weakest damage forms he has. He would have better results with any of his 3 other forms (sword, lance or curved sword), because those are more aggressive and deal more damage

@@takezokimura2571 Not to mention he got Power Within and Pyromancy with Curved Grreatsword and deal the most damage with the spear
