I just did a 1000 miles in 4 days in wyoming this weekend on my bobber twenty. The small tank is a blessing and a curse. Getting to stop and stretch definitely helps but for sure plan ahead on gas stops. There can be long gaps without gas stations. And some stations might not have premium so grab a bottle of octane boost just in case. I too am a psyco and want to tour on my scout so i am definitely looking forward to your trip videos.
Day mileage depends a lot on road quality, I've done 600 miles and felt like I could do more and I've done 150 miles and couldn't wait to stop for the night , if you need to take a break take one, when you stop enjoying it, it becomes work, best of luck.
You will enjoy it & discover things you were not aware of. This I always find fantastic. Do not over pack. Even with camera stuff. Take a heated vest that is powered by the bike's battery. This will replace layers of warm riding clothing you can leave at home. I love the Venture + brand.
Good Luck brother..had a trip planned to SD but had to waylay due to a family function..next time...probably heading to West Texas and Big Bend area in Oct..Ride Safe
That is a huge tire repair kit physically. I use a small high pressure bicycle air pump (~ 9" long max.) for the tires if needed so no battery is required. No eletricity.
Thats in April. At that time of the year, there is a chance it can snow. So I may need to rent a U-haul truck just to get through the mountain pass. Ive riden in snow a couple times, its not the most fun thing to do. Thats a decision that will be taken in accordance to the weather forecast when the time come.
Heavy duty freezer ziplock bags are water proof, thick and you can squeeze the air out of them for clothes packing. And 1 for smelly dirty clothes. Can by a new cheap T-shirt to replace or add. I know guys who wear their worst, worn out with holes T-shirt. Then toss it after it is smelly and buyva new one cheap or one with a cool tourist logo on it for memories. You should not have any issues on a trip like that. I never have in 20+ years of trips. Have fun.
Enjoy the trip , I hope time contraints dont force you into making it a point to point task rather than a journey of discovery. I personally think bike touring are two vastly different beasts between North America and Europe. Churning out the miles is very much the US way. Europe is not huge so a 2 hr or less run then stopping to look around is way more common. That's probably why big cruisers are not as popular as other styles of bike. Even touring on 500cc and under bikes is very common.
Thanks! Yeah that’s why I didn’t want to book campgrounds after the first couple of days because it might turn into a forced destination point and make the trip feel rushed and limit my able to explore. I would love to tour Europe that sounds like my kind of touring haha.

Thanks! I didn’t think gas stations not having premium that’s a good idea on the octane boost. Appreciate the heads up!

Good luck on your ride. Look forward to seeing videos of the trip. What is your final destination in Canada?
Thanks! I’m not 100% sure yet, I was going to cross over and try to find a cool little camp ground or something to stay the night at.
Hope you had a great trip.
I am in the early stages of planning a trip from Vancouver, Canada to Austin tx to attend the 2025 motoGP at COTA.
It was great! That will be an awesome ride, not sure what time of year that’ll be but it gets real hot in Texas so be prepared haha.
