I have a blue dial Kamasu as my everyday watch (Got it from Big Camera Hiroshima). I kinda like how it fits well on my 15.5 cm (6.2 inches) wrist and doesn’t look too large, probably because of compact lug-to-lug. I kinda hate its stock bracelet though, the clasp is overly large that it pushes my watches off-center all the time.
Personally I find the stock bracelet comfortable and I don't understand the problem with hollow end links. I even prefer the aluminium bezel insert. A bigger crown would be better, I won't deny that, but it hardly matters in day to day use.
What a great vibrant red sunburst. The mods you made are a huge upgrade. I feel like a 22mm nylon strap might be better than a 20mm. Makes the strap more substantial, less flimsy.
The size is the main problem i have with these watches. My fav size zone is 37mm to 39mm diameter. For some reason these legendary watches always come in 41mm or more.
Yeah true, I think 42mm is reasonable, the dial to case ratio on these make the watch look really small when it's 37mm (check out my video on the tag Heuer 37mm that I have!)
You can try though. I have a 15.5 (6.2 inch) wrist and wearing blue dial Kamasu as I am typing this. For some reason, it doesn’t look too large on my wrist probably due to the lug-to-lug width not being too large. And people around where I live tend to wear larger watches despite our smaller than westerners wrists. I’d say the stock bracelet is a bit troublesome though, especially the clasp, it’s a little too large that it always pushes the watch off-center on my wrist and I ended up having to grab a watch and turn it towards me to see time (and I already wear my watch tight).
Good trick for screwing the crown, on any watch down (I agree the guards are two big) is turn it counter clockwise while pushing down on it until you feel a click. Then screw the crown gently making sure you catch the inner ribbing (don't know what to call this) correctly.
Almost sold mine sometime ago but it grows on me overtime. Bought it used at half of the retail prices, green dial. Unique and has its own design language. Legible, strong long lasting lume with the long and distinctive handsets. Comfortable wearing on wrist with many strap options. Original sapphire crystal, in-house within 10s/day accuracy. 200m WR. So many positive things of this watch. Only gripes: - small crown - bezel markers aren’t align (not precisely correct)
I just got mine. Same red dial as yours. The crown is solid and is not hard to turn or screw out. My main issue is the unadjusted movement running 15 seconds fast per day. I am going to regulate it.
I got my Ray 2 (practically the same watch) 3 weeks ago and it's always 3 things that bother me : the tiny crown, the insufficient taper of the bracelet, and the rigid bezel. Apart from these 3 things, the watch is amazing. The mineral crystal on the Ray 2 is not scratch prone too. The bezel, I lubricate with tap water lol. The bracelet......I'm not a bracelet guy so not a problem for me. Will buy a tropic strap later.
Not too big of a fan if that new bezel:/ i really want to replace my bezel but its hard finding oem replacements:/ the long island bezel mod seems like a great solution but maybe an oem seiko insert? Idk. Idk what to do yet
I think swapping out the original bezel sort of stripped away some of the original Kamasu DNA. From a distance I’d swear you had a Seiko- looks good though!…
I like the stock bezel the best - the bezel indents add a bit of charm IMHO. You are right about the bracelet - a rubber or steel strapcode bracelet is the way to go.
i love this watch. my first watch and got it in green. the dial is so dynamic and beautiful. i dont agree with the lug width con. i think it looks great with the bracelet. the only thing is the rattling of those hollow end links which can be fixed by pliers very carefully. Mine runs at like +2 seconds per day and just looks so damn good. The green dial is such a perfect shade of green and so dynamic with light. I think I will order up a second one in red just because its my favourite color and I dont really see any negatives in this watch. Stamped clasp? sure but how many times you take the watch off from your wrist and think: oh no that is a stamped clasp i must feel bad now? Ive had no problems with it at all. Its just a beautiful watch and a highly functional at that. I use the bezel to time things all the time.
The stock crown on the Kamasu is fkn terrible. If you can find the stock code and supplier for a replacement crown for the newer Mako3 (I have the RN-AA0820R) then I recommend you buy it and put that crown into the Kamasu as it's a huge improvement.
Can you go casual swimming with the orient kamasu? Ive gone swimming with my orient kamasu and forget to screw down the crown.. is it still fine? Or does the water could potentially get in. (Swimming dept is around 1.5 meters)
@@Revel214 first set your watch to 6 o'clock, then you set the crown to the first position and to change the date or day by rotating clockwise and counterclockwise, set it to YESTERDAY and then pull the crown to the second position and advance the hours to the time you want.
I bought an Orient " Panda" months ago and share the same dislikes. Bracelet is cheap, date window is absolutely useless and the lume is the worst of any watch I own. The price and the fact it's solar make me overlook the dislikes though. Gorgeous grey dial.
I wish RUclipsrs would waste more of everyone's time, and complain a little more about the Orient bracelet🙄 Every RUclipsr acts like no one has ever mentioned the Orient bracelet.
I did a long island bezel replacement on it, really upgrades the look. Its become a favorite now. Lots of compliments
Same here! Makes it 100% better.

It wears more like a 40mm.
Problem is the lug width.

Yeah my two gripes too, the accuracy is amazing on my unit too!
I agree with you. Not a watch expert but with the blue dial this watch looks great for the price.
I just got mine. Same red dial as yours. The crown is solid and is not hard to turn or screw out. My main issue is the unadjusted movement running 15 seconds fast per day. I am going to regulate it.
15 sec fast is not so bad, before opening it up you might try to demagnetize it with a cheap demagnetizer from Amazon
I never had problems with screwing the crown on mine. The trick is to push it first before you screw it in.
Maybe it's just my sausage fingers lol
@@NorthernWatchClub Probably. I have absolutely no problem with the crown. Or, indeed, the bracelet.

Nice! I'd recommend a tropic strap that tapers from 22 to 18 instead of 20 :)

Very accurate. The crown is quite annoyingly small

I like the stock all black bezel better than the Coke look.
yeah I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have gotten an all black bezel...
@@NorthernWatchClub I like the coke bezel with a black dial.
@@NorthernWatchClub The red on your replacement bezel looks pink compared to the dial. Not keen on it.
Original bezel is way more unique than the Seiko style. That’s why I bought it in the first place.
I think I found my next watch haha. I wanted the white dial Seiko field watch but the price went up on that by a lot.
My complaint is that the signature on the crowd vanished after about a month of use. No idea how it’s applied but it’s …. Gone..

if course! just make sure to screw down that crown!
It's a dive watch. It's water resistant to 200m.
I find the stock bezel action is sloppy, does the Long Island watch replacement make that part better?
Still pretty sloppy, I find the sub style bezel to not have as much grip, if I were to redo it I'd buy the coin edge instead
Hoping I can one day find this for a good price in Canada.
I might be willing to sell mine actually now that I have other divers :/
