Damn dude.. I cannot thank you enough. It would have taken me days to figure this shit out. You are amazing.
No problem! I try to make the tutorials I wish I had lol
@@DevGods Totally! Well thanks again. Super helpful content!
Dude...I owe you a beer or two. Thanks. You saved me. Freakin' awesome. I'm writing a tutorial and linking your video for my team.
No problem man! Glad the video is still helpful
Many thanks like everyone else here said ... quite handy for someone that is only a dev in the engine and we have an external Houdini asset creator.

You killed this bro! Good job.
Thanks!
Man!! Thanks a lot for this tutorial! Was very useful for me!

unfortunately, this time it dint work! i have Houdini FX 19.5 build 434 and the engine version avaliable is for UE5.0. my UE version is currently 5.3. Visual studio compiled sucessfully but when the project opened there was no HoudiniEngine on the main menu bar nor appears in the UE plugins list.
This video is pretty old and things must’ve changed
If it still fails to create a session, Open Houdini, Windows > Houdini Engine SessionSync > Start (in the top right corner). Then hit create session in Unreal.
i've got apprentice license and couldn't start houdini engine session :(
nice tut btw!! so useful
I'm getting this error in the UE5 log: "LogHoudiniEngine: Error: Starting up the Houdini Engine module failed: built and running versions do not match". , any help?
Are you using the launcher to both install Houdini and Houdini engine?
I think I did something wrong I got an error message saying 'HoudiniEngine' failed to load because module 'Houdini Engine' could not be found.
Was this error fixed?
@@DevGods No, I couldnt figure out why it was saying that, I put it in the project folder and in the main UE5 folder but it didnt seem to work either way. I had a look online but couldnt find a solution to the problem.
Are you using the plug-in from the launcher? Do you have Houdini apprentice installed?
@@DevGods yes, I have houdini installed and I got the plugin you showed in the video but when I try to open Unreal before it can even load it comes up with that error message.
I am new here ?
Hi, I am trying the same with 19.0.589. Getting loads of errors.
I’ll test it out tonight and see what’s going wrong
@@DevGods I had tried from the houdini installer. When i copied the plugin in the project folder it was throwing errors. I then put it in the Engine source folder plugin runtime and removed from the project. Then it worked.
followed tut not connecting thanks, i have apprentice though. i think it says apprentice doesnt support the engine is that right? advise appreciated
You can’t make tools with apprentice
@@DevGods thanks but I should be able to import the unreal engine starter files and put in editor correct? ok I got it had to import license
@@terrablader yes
@@DevGods thanks its allways something dumb had not imported unreal license
@@terrablader How does this unreal license step you mentioned work? I'm having the same problem as you, Apprentice license does not run the session, please help
Houdini Engine for New Official Unreal Engine 5 . . . . Plugin is available or not . . . ?
Haven’t checked. I do believe the latest github repo is updated for the release version of UE5
So what if I dont have Visual Studio? How do I proceed then? :( Thanks
You will need some kind of c++ compatible IDE to use the plug in. Sorry there is now way around that one
@@DevGods I installed Visual Studio, but when I tried to Generate VS project files, I didn't have that option. So in the end, I got stuck.
Are you in the discord? If you’re still having trouble tag me with some possible screenshots and I’ll see if I can help out
@@DevGods Hey..I need help as well!
Jump in the discord and post your issue with screen shots. And make sure to tag me
Is Houdini free?
It’s free to learn but to use commercially you will have to pay for either a subscription or a perpetual license
@@DevGods how exactly can I play w Houdini for free??
@@swait239 grab the apprentice version. Truth be told to play with the tools like the ones I showed in this video you don’t need Houdini just the plug-in and there are a ton of tools out there. The plug in is free for both commercial and non commercial
Yo, I've been trying to install this all day. Even following your guide, I get 2 errors when I attempt to run the solutions with Houdini in the runtime folder:

Fresh install of Houdini Engine and Visual Studio 2019.
Any help?
Someone else had this same error. Where are you getting Houdini plug-in from?
@@DevGods It was Houdini 19.0.622, and I tried several versions. Finally after 10+ hours of trying, I just got it to work by uninstalling UE5EA and installing UE5.0.3.
