@Dexter Lee I think it's the roughness of it. 80's metal usually was a bit cleaner, except for maybe the thrash bands. Meanwhile, punk was usually more untrained, unfiltered, more rough and unrefined.
@Dexter Lee Oh, no, I completely agree, I'm just reasoning why the op (original poster) might've thought this. Also, I'm not sure Lydon is the best example, his vocals were much cleaner than these. Actually, they're still much cleaner. I'd go more Joe Strummer, or early Motorhead Lemmy (because I still believe they were punk on those early albums).

Other than the Dr. Rockso vocals these guy shred. There are some spots he does clean vocals and should stick to those for every song. But it's still a badass record.
great melodies, great instrumental work, very old school, with a little bit of glam metal touch. Only vocals needs some improvements to be absolutely perfect...
