@@clintonthe4th245 I turned 50 last September!!!! My Daughters 33. Now thanks to your wonderful and sweet Mother I know I'm not old!!!!!! Thank her and give her super kiss and love from me!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!
Saw them at U. of Wisconsin/Madison in around '86 at a tiny bar (where I also saw 10,000 Maniacs with Tracy Chapman). They were so original and so amazing....NO ONE was like them!
I first saw them in late 87 in Seattle. I've been a huge fan of CVB since about 86 or 87. I've seen double shows of Camper Van and Cracker two or three times. I took pictures at all the shows, even the one in 87. I've also had a big crush on Jonathan
I met this band back in 2010 when I was doing reception at a Comfort Inn. Really nice guys, and I remember them making jokes about Spinal Tap and asking if the parking garage had clearance for the van that they were traveling in. Talked to David briefly alone, I forget about what, but I do remember mentioning that I was a fan and him asking if I wanted an autograph. I have never been an autograph person, and so I said no, but it was nice to talk to him.
the Camper Van-B catalog is staggering. And what's nice about it, is each song has a Beatles-esque strong melody and counterpoint (thank you Jonathan) and usually an interesting genre. David on his own in Cracker tends to go down the same road over and over.
was early 90"s when i discovered Cracker, while residing in Burbank district,San Jose,CA.Could not get enough of 'Low'. Got to see them at Slims nightclub in San Francisco.
My sister Heidi and i are exactly three years apart. On the morning of our birthday, we sing each other "Happy Birthday" by Cracker. At my wedding reception, I sang "Mr. Wrong" as a tribute to my mother-in-law. And at my 50th birthday party, I sang a duet to "Eurotrash Girl" with my buddy Matt's band Phyllis Killer. Good times
I had CVB's catalogue on viny at one happy point in my life. David Lowery's talent should have gotten him more recognition. But he is a singer/songwriter in the best rock tradition of Neil young, Bruce Cockburn, and Bob Mould (of Husker Du). The kind of songwriter who catches you off-guard with a lyric and suddenly you're...involved...in the song. It's good to hear he's still creating. May his muse never desert him. No joke, see "Sting".
Been following and buying his music since the 80's. Him and Ween my favorites. Was finally gonna get to see Cracker in March in Honolulu but it got canceled the week of. Uhg! Damn vid! I think I have everything he's produced besides the solo album. Anywho, love'm
Great bands!!!! Love Cracker and Camper as well!!! Seen um both live a ton of times as well and they put on great shows!!!! Gonna check out David's solo stuff now that I just heard of it!!!!!! Hope he gets some royalties from me!!!!!!!
I watch these vids and about 14 seconds in....my brain does the math. After 18 seconds I realize how old I am and I think about what it's going to be like to die.
Did I really miss this on television!? Wow, I just ...gosh! For me it's silly to ask if I "like" or "dislike" this video, cause I love anything David, Cracker or Camper Van Beethoven does. I do think David should of mentioned his 'partners in crime', given a 'shout out' , or something of the sort. Congradulations David for sticking with it! So many great musicians have been disallusioned and died.. Good for you! Keep rocking and see ya next gig....
Saw CVB in London - camden electric ballroom 1990, travelled to London to see them again not long after and there was a note on the venue door saying they had split up! Met David at a later gig in London when Tusk came out and had a pic taken, all broad smiles and amazing memories. Love CVB, when are you coming back to the UK?!
They were our band. If you were alienated and interested in the best of culture that had come before they were your band. I mean they were in the middle of just plastic 1980s crap and we’re one of the only good bands around. They really are as much a 1980s or late 1980s band in the 1990s.
Lowery does not get his due in the music world and I think he likes it this way, his writing is up there with Nelson, Dillon and the likes. Euro-trash will never be beaten as far as song writing goes, its an anthem of our generations time. Don't know his political ideologies, but we're all born liberal and some or most evolve.
He's pretty solidly free-thinking libertarian if you ask me. He's the son of an AF vet with a math and computer science background who fronted an alt-punk and alternative band. His lyrical content is indicative of walking in the middle. And if you've noticed of late (since your comment was posted) he is incredibly defiant in the face of the Tech Era.
He needs to be recognized as one of the greats of American Music!
I recognize him as such!
Love him, love Camper and I've never felt so f#$KING old.
you are not old till your kids turn 50
that is what my mm said
+CLINTON BIGGS, that's one wise woman! Ill take it.

Camper Van Beethoven is one of the greatest bands ever. Thank you so much, sir🙏🏻
I caught every tour these guys did in the U.K. back in the 80’s!
And recorded them too! Still have them! They were brilliant live!
one of the best American songwriters....

Camper is so amazing! Love Monks of doom too!
Saw them in Cleveland last weekend, amazing show! Reminded me of being in college, great memories. Even got to talk with Jonathan Segel for a bit
Great city for rock.
Last show I saw at the Beachland Ballroom before the virus! Opened with Skinheads.

Dying's no big deal, you won't be here for the details.
It should be noted that Pictures of Matchstick Men is a cover of a Status Quo song.
how do these geniuses write and play this stuff ?!?

2 and 3 it is just supreme. I love them all though.
Camper Van Beethoven is sooo underrated…kinda like the Pavement of the 80s. Those first three or four records are fucking great.
Camper Van Beethoven, what can I say. Interesting group. I have one album.
David lowery is the coolest guy ever.

Early 2011: ABC is producing clips for youtube by pointing a Samsung Galaxy S at an edit suite video monitor.
Wait ABC (Disney) supporting good music...never would have guessed.
Which of these guys were in Monks of Doom?
Nic Lawson bass player victor krummenacher from CVB is the founder of monks of doom
Teenage Angst!! I always thought that was by Social Distortion!!!....cool...no wonder i could never find it..lol
I wanna here social d do teen angst now...
Guitar line sounds a lot like Machine Gun Blues.
Woody Harrelson's older brother.
Nick Rekieta in 10 years
If i could have dinner with one person it would be David. Unfortunately, i think a lot of a**hole fans have made him hard to approach after shows.

Wut, i love abc news?????,??
CVB is Not from the 90s!!!!! Their first record came out in 1985. Do your fucking homework.
Yeah...how could you even..90's were late stage cvb.cracker s nineties-born...and no mention of nrt.
Great video clip, but these guys predated all that fluff "Alternative Rock" hijacked by the music studios in the 90s.
Turn down the fukkin music when people are speaking.
He reminds me of Mel Gibson with the facial expressions he has.
