I love to see your videos. The nature every season. We are living in Gothenburg's archipelago. But I was born in Rovaniemi Finland. There are no sunlight at winter, but lots of snow⛷️🏂😂
Thanks so much! Yeah nature gives something beautiful in every season I think. All have it’s own unique moments. Let’s see what winter will bring! For sure a lot of snow here too haha
Hi Guy, Nice images again! One tip…be careful flying the drone trough the clouds in fall/winter…there might accumulate some ice on the propellers due to the moisture even with temperatures above zero. The drone can then fall out of the sky. Keep on going 😊
Wow.. it was maybe a better idea not to go expecting sun! I am moving to Sweden next year and would follow your experience, if you allow me. I am looking forward to life in Sweden! I am over 50, but I see investing in strong legs would be a good asset to enjoy and explore Sweden. I would like to go to Sweden being conscious (or at least as conscious as possible) how great a privilege is just to experience the human life on those places, so close to the rhythyms of nature. Tack så mycket och jag ska följia dig.
Haha there is sun, actually more then I am used to during the year. But now it’s a little less and yeah the days get shorter. That’s super cool! Do you already know where you want to move to? It’s a beautiful country with lots of beautiful nature were you can connect with 🙏🏼😊
I am Swedish, I used to live in Åre for a few years which is barely "northern Sweden" but its north of Sweden... its to dark, I got to much depression and whenever it was sunny I worked indoors. I maybe saw sunlight or any natural light at all two or three hours a month. it's only doable if you have great working conditions or do not work at all and actually have time to go outside when its light outside. never again in my life. summers tho is amazing light 24/7 I love it.
Ahh yeah I can understand what you say! I just have to experience it all to say how i actually feel about it. For now it’s new and that’s maybe why it’s (still) exciting. I hope in some way it will not be as hard as you describe it 🙈
I,m born in the lowlands came to Sweden in '84 and lived for 37 years in the southeast (Österlen) 3.5 years ago I bought a moped with a carrier bed and drove to Jokkmokk. I love the winter and it's not all that dark when there is snow but then again, before the snow comes and when it's cloudy it gets really dark when you go into the forest. I know many people hate it but I love to go into the forest at night when it's that dark and quiet.
I live in Seattle, WA, USA, and while it is not quite as far north as Sollefteå is, we often have long dark cold winters, but more with rain than snow. I get through the winters by still continuing to go outside even in the cold and wet. The nature is still beautiful and the air is fresh, and getting out in nature is good for my mental health. I love the rain and the cold, so I still love hiking in the winter, maybe even more than in the summer. I also spend a lot of time inside, with candles, faerie lights, warm drinks and food, and honestly, enjoying hygge. Extra vitamin D helps too. I really love meal planning on the weekend, so I can ensure lots of cozy food throughout the week.
Seattle is far north compared to the contiguous 48 states but it is in fact quite a bit further south from the "far south" of Sweden. Sollefteå is more like the latitude of Mt McKinley (Denali). At the winter solstice, the sun will rise around 9.40 am and set around 2:20 pm. I live in the far south and our winters are mostly grey, heavy overcast most of the time and rather wet - probably a lot like yours. Sollefteå will be something very different in winter.
I let my mum do the meal planning hahaha 😛 We try to eat with the 3 of us. And as we work and mum is free she cooks most of the days in the week 👌🏼😊 I had years and years of cold, rainy darker days… i didn’t like those, but here in general it feels more dry/sunny. Much more fun than the rain… I love real winter so I guess I’ll be having fun haha. Cold fresh air is so nice to breath 🤩
@@lifeof_guy In fact, you may find it not quite as dark as people do further south. The snow helps, so it is not completely pitch black. Sure, you won't see much daylight but you do in the summer. Now it is payback time! 😉
@@lifeof_guy That's true. Some days are harder than others, I'll admit. I don't love days when it's just grey with no rain. The rain is at least soothing to me. I do love snow more, but I've not lived in a place with as much snow as Sollefteå. I'm still curious to see what that's like!
Your videos are visually extremely gorgeous. I know the nature in that part of Sweden really helps but I love your choices of how to film them. Even the bokeh effect for the intro is stunning. Keep up the great work my dude! ❤
My thoughts on "Sweden's dark days": I'm originally from Germany. Where I lived, the days were longer in winter than here in Sweden, but they were grey-brown (so no nice coat of glistening snow) and cold and wet. This wet cold drew you everywhere, no matter how warm you dressed. I spend a lot of time outdoors for work and therefore experience this more intensely than most other people who tend to spend their time indoors in winter. In Sweden, the days are shorter in winter than back in Germany, but firstly, the sun shines much more often on these short days than where I lived in Germany. And secondly, the snow wraps everything in a magical cloak. The ugly grey-brown is covered up. What's more, the "dry cold" is much more pleasant to endure than the disgusting "wet cold". I'm happy to put up with shorter days in winter if 1. everything is covered in a white blanket, 2. the dry cold doesn't get on my skin, 3. the sun shines every now and then during the few hours of daylight and, finally, I can see the Northern Lights in the starry (soooo many stars!!!) night sky. All this is worth enduring the Swedish darkness in winter. It's worth it because it reveals so much beauty. ❤For me anyway. 😉 (And then I would also like to say that darkness feels different to me here in Sweden than it did in my old home country.)
Oh I totally agree on this, Swedish winter is so much different from the one we are used to! The world turns in to a magical white darkness with occasionally green/purple/red colours in the sky!! Really an amazing experience, I love it! The dry cold is really nice actually, better than the wet cold back in the Netherlands/Germany. I hope you will have a great winter ahead :)
Guy, I'm in Colorado on the Front Range of the Rockies. I really liked your video. Certainly, we aren't close to having darkness as your location does. Still the lack of sunlight affects everyone here too. We do have a good deal of clear night skies which showcases the Moon but not even close to the number of stars you have. There are days when I go to work in morning darkness and get to view the full moon over the mountains. It's life-affirming. And the aurora is quite a sight for you. We have had wisps of it this far south this year. I get through the lessening of light intensity by using natural light bulbs. Yet it is the lack of color in my surroundings that does me in. I highly recommend bright color along with the natural light. Best wishes on your channel. Looking forward to your postings.
Oh that sounds like a great location! Never been there, must be a beautiful area 🤩 Yes I can imagine that in general less light affects many people. Darkness with a starry sky, I love it! The moon always gives a beautiful sight isn't it? Aurora is the best of them all! But it's cold and soon colder to capture it haha. But will keep going out for sure! 😍 Thanks for the tip, someone else gave me that tip aswel. Definitely I will have a look at that! Thanks a lot 🙏
