Thing I always remember with Pillman being way ahead of his time was how he dressed, like the guy carried himself like a star, he looked like he could be the lead singer for a band back then, he was the fucking man
It was glorious, those superfans in the front row who went to every ECE show with that “don’t work us” sign... “ok... smart marks... what’s a smart mark... a mark with a high IQ... I don’t think so!”
Brian Pillman will forever be my number 1 "WHAT IF" guy. Had he not passed away, I could picture him being linked up with DX or doing some really incredible stuff during the Attitude era.
I hope not. Pillman in DX would be TERRIBLE. He should have been a weird mirror of Stone Cold - where SCSA was that rural DTA tweener/ face, Pillman coulda been the up north DTA tweener - heel Both loners, both ass kickers. I would’ve loved THAT
He wouldnt be linked with DX he hates shawn Michaels in real life he was a Bret hitman guy only thing I can wish if Pillman was alive can you image him and shawn both stone that would be very hardcore and I bet one of them would of gotten to fight or Pillman wouldnt let shawn do his crazy stuff
I think the “WHAT IF” should have been if he didn’t get into that accident. The accident definitely took a toll on his in ring ability and probably led to his addiction.
There was an angle in wwe with pilman that I will never forget. There was this angle that Brian was commenting during shotgun Saturday night and in throughout the show there was a guy hackling him behind him and he ended up three fourths into that show he turned around and beat the shit out of the fan. Now I know it's a Work but you got a remember I was 12 years old when I saw that and I just thought to myself that guy is nuts
Normally, the fan might get arena security called on him for fighting back against Pillman. But, if it is a Planted Fan, then, the fan wouldn't get thrown out the building...
Spoiler: The pimp in the story was actually The Godfather. You should have Mark Madden on to tell some of his Pillman stories. He tells one on his radio show every now and then about Pillman trying to track down his wife at various drug houses in the middle of the night, while Madden is on the phone with him. Just epic stuff. Guy really was a Loose Cannon!
Saw Pillman for the first time wrestle on tv in 1989 when I was 8 years old. Instantly he became my favorite wrestler. He was instantly over, he had the charisma, the look and was incredible in the ring, very high intensity. Jim Cornette knew these things then too, but the higher ups in WCW wouldn't let him but get so far, should've been a champ by 92 at least.
Hogan wanted him in that doomsday cage at uncensored 96 and Pillman used a doctors excuse to get out the match as there was a chance it would be him Hogan got his win over ...rumour and innuendo of course.
Flying Brian was one of the first wrestlers I seen in WCW. I think he won the Super Jrs ?? He was Awesome. Him joining the Hart Foundation was really cool too. I hope his Son does well in the business.
Brian Pillman is in my Top 10... Guy was too smart for his own good in the business... One of the most interesting characters/people in Wrestling of all time. 15 years ahead of his time
and you know the craziest thing? that Austin vs Pillman angle went to a TV match. Why wouldn't they do it on PPV? Look at King Of The Ring 97: why would Austin wrestle his own tag team partner but not Brian Pillman?
Brian was one of my favorites. I remember when he was having a series of matches with Jushin Thunder Liger for the Lightweight title and they were doing stuff that hadn't been seen in the big promotions at that time. The match they had at SuperBrawl 2 is an all time classic. I remember just before Brian had the car accident there were already rumors he was going to the WWF and they had him and Shawn Michaels of the cover of an issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated with the tag: is The Loose Cannon Too much for HBK? It really got my attention of how good of a match they would of had and that Brian definitely could've been a main event player and champion if he didn't have the accident. I Lovef the Brian Pillmsn XXX Files segments they were hilarious and was always looking forward to what was going to happen next especially when he had Marlene for 30 days and 30 long nights lol as his personal assistant and then when I ordered In Your House Badd Blood and Vince was on announcing that Brian had Passed. I couldn't believe it. I thought this must be an angle but at the same time I was like I don't know because they haven't done something like this where they said someone has passed and on live TV just before the event. As the night when on I realized this must be real and it devastating. The next night on Raw when they had all the wrestlers come out for the 10 Bell count was the first time I ever remember seeing that. It was realer than real now and was so sad. That angle with Brian was one of the hottest things happening at that time and as I said I was always looking forward to what was going to happen next. Brian was hilarious! ❤🙏
In my opinion(or is this a fact?) Pullman was one of the greatest Wrestlers from the 90’s. His “Loose Cannon” gimmick was cutting edge and I believe he started the Attitude era. Raven says in many interview that he used to ride with Austin and Pullman and were called the “Comedy Trio”. I wish I could have rode in that car one time to hear their conversations about your business!

there's a match WWE did, it was Pillman & Neidhart vs Legion Of Doom. I think it was Pillman's first match for WWE, he clearly wasn't in good health because he was limping so badly. He never should have come back to wrestling.
That pimp story is crazy. Man the things he could've accomplished if he never had that car accident, my gosh it was amazing he survived that.
