Another beautiful manicure for your mum. The colour is perfect for the festive season. One of the very last things I did for my mum before she passed away, was give her a manicure which she loved. Happy New Year Anna, MSL and your dear mum. 💕
Light bulb moment!! Yet again, you solved a problem I have had and couldn’t figure out and couldn’t find the answer to. I have problems with my right thumb and have gotten a wave in it every once in a while. The wave would grow out and be gone, but then be back. That thumb nail also has a stubborn Proximal Nail Fold. I try to be gentle and have ever since I was forced to only have natural nails. Still, I know I’ve pressed down too much. I never put the pressing too hard with the resulting wave, though. Thank you, Anna! You really are a genius and a nail expert!

You have done so much to help my nails. My nails have been peeling, the skin on top of the cuticle was splitting and peeling. And they improved so much, using jojoba oil and I started to do regular manicures at home. I unfortunately then came down with covid and was so sick, that I did not even have the energy to maintain my nail care and everything went backwards. Since my recovery from that, I added some vitamin E oil (a small capsule at night before bed), along with jojoba oil throughout the day again, and there is a lot of improvement. I had started to use Kerasal, but it seems to dry my nails out quite a bit, so now I do the jojoba oil and a little bit of vitamin E, and then use the Kerasal and once that is rubbed in and the skin pushed back, I add a couple more drops of Vitamin E from the capsule before bed. My nails still peel if they get too long, so I keep them on the short side. it's just about keeping the whole thing healthy now again. But your advice has been fantastic over these past few months.
Doing my dazzle dry manicure for new year’s. First time trying to do my own. Following all your great tips. My nails are very short because I am working on rehabilitating them after a lifetime of nail biting. Your great advice has been so helpful. Thank you! Happy new year…feliz año nuevo!
So pretty! I've been putting Stardust or Cupid's Arrow over just about every DD cream polish lately and it does cover any nail imperfections plus seems to make the polish last even better. Stardust is the one I use most -- it's the perfect amount of sparkle!
That is so beautiful! I have a New Year's mani planned already, but this one will definitely be in my future! I recently used Endearment and really loved it more than I thought I would. Happy, healthy, New Year to you, MSL, and your family, Anna! Thank you for this, and I look forward to more videos!
Ok. If the husband walked in right now, it would look pretty strange. Kind of Picture in Picture mode because I am watching this and shaping my own nails with an identical file. I’m loving these Soft touch tools, Anna. Hope your new year is fabulous!
Anna, you and your mom have beautiful healthy nails! Love this combination! Thank you for all your videos and nail advice. I’m trying to improve my very damaged nails from DIY builder gels and gels at home the past year… however with warm oil soaks and daily oils and all of your tips, I anticipate improvement over the next several months!! I must admit, I do see beautiful gel nails on others and I feel jealous of the perfect and long appearance.. Very slow process, it’s been three weeks, however, I’m confident they will get better over the next few months… Happy New Year to you and yours!! Can you explain the difference between CND shellac gel formula versus regular gel polish? Is CND shellac gel meant to be less removal time? Or less hard, compared to regular gel?
It took me one year to stop cuttung my cuticle and skin around my nails. This was such a strong need. I do not know how I got this habit. But I do know that without your teachings I would not have quit doing it. You should write a book so young people could get in touch with it and learn it. Because in my case I was not thought. No one around me cut their nail skin intuitively. Somewhere and somehow I startet doing it and no one thought me better, until Anna came 🙌🏻🩷
Sometimes I cap my DD manis (and sometimes I don’t) to my short, flexible, peel prone nails. Perhaps it is more psychological than anything, but those first couple days a cap holds up, my nails feel stronger and less likely to accumulate damage. Once the cap is gone, I feel like my nails experience a great deal more expansion and contraction following water exposure. I also use my DD manis to protect my nails when I dremel my dogs nails! 😂 Perfect for paw sensitive pups.
I used to buff my nails a lot, thinking that by smoothing them out I was helping them to get healthier and more beautiful. I so much regret it, but I didn’t know better. Thank goodness my nails were really healthy and resilient and they kind of endured the damage. My nail technician in Spain highly recommended me to stop, I guess she was from Anna’s school 😉☺️
I’m from Barcelona and I used to live in Girona. Ten years ago I moved to the US and now I live in sunny Cali. Wonderful place but I miss my nail gal, she is truly awesome 😊 Thank you for all you do Anna, you saved my nails!
Something I learned from a nail tek who had her own salon, was to use hydrogen peroxide under the nail, also because it's a disinfectant. This helps people like me who wish the white part was whiter. You take hydrogen peroxide and put it in a small amber dropper bottle, and once a day put a drop under each nail. You don't put it on top. It does make the white part whiter and does not damage anything; you just put a drop and don't rub anything.
Hydrogen peroxide is not as great as people think. It’s maybe great for disinfecting but it can definitely damage the skin and nails. Reference: www.researchgate.net/publication/336239119_Keratin_oxidation_carbonylation_as_an_early_marker_of_nail_plate_damage
@@TheSalonLife yikes! It does make the white part whiter - so you mean I should stop using it even though it's never on the nail plate? I'll watch that now....
@@TheSalonLife well I just read it and it says the main culprit is constant wearing of nail polish. It doesn't say anything about a drop of hydrogen peroxide under the nails.
Can you do a manicure as in file your nails push your proximal nail fold back remove the cuticle wash your hands then add oil & lotion but not polish your nails?
Beautiful as always. I had peeling nails for years but thanks to following your channel and advice, I got them in great condition. However, I bought the OPI Repair Mode thinking it would prevent the peeling coming back. I used it as recommended, twice a day for 6 days, then used it on day 1 followed by Nail Envy. My nails started peeling very badly again after a few weeks. Could I have been over using the repair mode ? (although once a week doesnt seem excessive). I'm currently just using oil several times a day on short, bare nails and they appear to be improving.
I have exactly the same issue. I used OPI Repair Mode as directed and grew out my formerly badly bitten and over filed soft nails. I had the best nails ever after 9 months but immediately I stopped using OPI Repair Mode for a few weeks my nails started to peel really badly. I’m now back to really, really short peeling nails and trying OPI again twice a day plus oil treatments.
@TheSalonLife Thank you for your response Anna. I've used Nail Envy on and off for over 20 years. It could be part of the problem, despite claims that its good for poor nails. Even the option for weak, peeling nails didn't help! I think water gets into the nail layers because I get irregular white shapes from the tip down and that's the area that peels. I'll continue to use oil and gently file until the damage is gone. And no more polish! Sadly that seems the way forward for me 😭
Beautiful! Question: so many hand creams have some kind of alcohol in them. Is there a difference in alcohol and the wording Cetyl Alcohol. What is the best option when using DD polish?
Question: when you're letting damage grow out, what is good to use? I used a Probiotic treatment one time and my nails got rough and white and look totally dried out, but I know it isn't dry, it's damaged. I've been using Ella & Mila First Aid Kiss because I had it at home and don't know the best thing to use. I have to put something on them because the surface is now so rough, and at least that makes them more smooth so they don't catch on things. I use Cucchio Oil or Jojoba after washing my hands and also Kerasal at night. Thanks in advance.
... because all these "treatments" are just clear polishes that can still cause damage to the nails. The nails are also dead so I don't know if pro-biotics would be helpful.
