I have a daily reminder on my phone calendar that repeats daily. "PREP something!"
Good idea. Thanks.
I love that idea! Makes it easier instead of overwhelming
Great idea!
I have a list and have specific tasks for specific days. Using my phone would help.❤
@@grandmaprepper3212 Uneducation is an Issue-spawning issue. Its a problem-creating problem.
Do i need to say more?
Its an issue-spawning issue to be uneducated, but theres ways against it.... what are you waiting for?
Not just for yourself, but you can recommend stuff. I could recommend you youtubers
that entertain with science or fuse Fun and Education together,
like 'Oversimplified' as a random example. So?
You could literally make a business where you go to peoples houses and organize their preps lol, kind of like a hoarders prepping version. Hire a crew train em up and let em rip!
Hi, Canadian Prepper. Hope your day goes well. Cant wait for your next video. This man needs to come to Missouri. I have no idea what im doing & i keep buying the same simple stuff. I have 5 bags to fill & have no idea where to start.
LOL! That is hilarious. Maybe call it "Pimp My Preps?". :)
SO NEEDED! I assisted people with disabilities in making and checking their kits and plans as a part of my support job. Great idea Canadian Prepper!
I was so just thinking that. I'd pay for that in a heart beat.
Yes! Sounds like a great idea. Every location is slightly different. Florida and Hawai’i needs more hurricane preps. Other states need Cold weather preps, earthquake preps. You guys could write off your trips. Urban prepper could probably take his whole family since they have names like baby prepper. Living On an island, government warns the public to have a few weeks of preparation but it is not enough if we get hit by a major storm. Plus now they used up the hurricane fund for the pandemic 😢.
If any of you prepper gurus come though we are in lockdown and the restaurants are closing down. Also, probably best to focus on urban and multigenerational prepping
I love the module method. Builds at your pace and is visually appealing. Really really loved this video. Thank you for participating 💖
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for having me be a part of this collaboration!
I look at prepping as a financial elephant, in that there's "no way" I can afford to prep for that maybe someday, when today and tomorrow are so expensive. The module approach and the dollar store storage tote is a great way to make that elephant bite size. I *can* afford to fill a little tote each month, and each little tote is progress!
Yep! That's the trick. Thanks for watching, Darryl. It's all about eating the elephant, one bite at a time. The Dollar Store is a great place to get items too.
You can always put a little bit of money away each paycheck into the bigger items as well. You just have to look at what you need and come up with a financial plan to get there. Good luck Darryl!
Most of the things you are looking at were a third to half as expensive as they are today. Think about what it might cost next year.
There are strategies for this situation, and the main things are 'focus on the priorities' (this would be mainly be food & water), and exchange time for money ... A great and useful project for something like this would be a rotating pantry (if you want me to provide a step by step process let me know). OR another way to look at it sometimes helps as well: 'Having some things ready but incomplete is better then to not have anything at the ready at all'. This can apply to anything, but at least gives you an incentive to start, instead of waiting until you are sure you can get every item you want. F/e in the area of a bug-out bag, just having a dedicated bag with extra clothing, general hygiene items (toothbrush & soap) and a copy of important documents, can probably be put together from the things you have now... Does it mean you can survive for weeks out in the bush? no... but in case of fires, flooding, terrible storms, you can at least 'grab the bag' and move out to somewhere else in the civilized world where those problems are not. And thinking ahead about such a bag, and actually having it at the ready, will obviously result in a better put together bag and the option to leave at a moments notice... And sure, it won't be the Urban Prepper BOB with all the gear and items he collected over 10+ years, but it will surely be better then the things you scrounged together in a couple of hours or even worse, nothing !
Exactly! That’s how I have to do it too. Each shopping trip I add at least one item to my list for prepping, more if affordable at the time. Organization is the key!
As I build my food storage, I’m also building a “recipe book”. I print off anything I think I’ll need and put it in the notebook. One section is “how to” and the other is recipes I want to try. Then as I try it I’ll either throw it away because it did turn out the way I wanted or move it to the keeper section of the notebook. I keep each sheet in a sheet protector and will take the sheet out only to make notes. Notes could be who like it, any changes I might have made, doing WW I write the points on it, etc. The one thing I’m sure I do is find recipes that will work with the food I’m storing. That way if we don’t have electricity (but can cook) I’ll be able to make things that everyone likes and not just open and serve. Just a suggestion.
That's a GREAT idea, Vickie! I'd love to hear more about your Prepping Recipe Book. Maybe we could collaborate on a future video regarding it?
TheUrbanPrepper, that would be fun. I have worked in the IT world and we used the Scrum process when staring a project. Never thought about using it for prepping, your idea made so much sense to me. I’m going to set up my Scrum board in the next few days and one of the first items is updating my notebook(s), along with finding my gaps. I’m new to prepping and still trying to get it together. Have a blessed day.
Good for you Vickie. I did the same thing. This way if I have to bug out I have my binder. :-)
Can you send me an email, Vickie? It would be fun to collaborate on a Prepping Binder!
I love this idea...thanks.
I love ❤❤ that you mention starting a channel because the people in your life will think you're a little wacko. I mentioned some preparedness on a family Zoom call and the blank stares I got back was hilarious! Spot on!
Haha. Thanks Jennifer! As I mentioned, being a Prepper can be a lonely life, especially when your closest friends and family think it's crazy. Having an outlet is so important to stay motivated.
How do i convince my family to prep? I feel the great need to at least do some level of this for my peace of mind. I live in one of the largest cities in the country, we dont have big storage areas, gardens, garages, attics, etc. we do however have a little better security for what its worth. I really dislike the people who dismiss city dwellers as burdens on society who will just die off in the first instance. That we’re weak and stupid, etc. What’s my best strategy here?
LOL, my mother just keeps telling me not to panic. I said its not panicking it's preparing. I barely had to go out during the shutdown and nothing really felt like it changed for us. I don't talk about prepping to almost anyone. I'm just assembling. One thing I would mention is prepping for a garden with seeds etc.
@@dianeblue130 I'm in one of those cities that Trump seems to focus on and I worry that we could be a target. So I hear your concern! While I'm not right downtown - if something happens I don't have that many ways out of town. I'm planning on having some of my own supplies AND I've been talking to my parents who live over an hour away that they should be the families bug out location. But it's taken four or five conversations and being in the national news to have them start thinking about what we'll do I would keep doing what you need to do, maybe think about where you could bug out to if that is needed and keep bringing it up! Don't stop bringing it up and one day something will click.
@@dianeblue130 Making space. Everything must earn it's spot functionally. Storage ottomans. Bed risers to create under storage. Can the hall closet be emptied? Triage what is there for usefulness. Get wall hooks or a coat tree, or disburse items to the users' closet. Fit the hall closet with shelves for preps. Super high shelves in closets or above laundry? Clear and dedicate for preps. Deep kitchen cabinets? Use the back portion for preps and the front for kitchen items. Side tables can be stacked preps or boxes with preps and covered with a drape.
Even if you know you won't 'bug-out' like a special ops soldier, you might need to stay in a disaster shelter, or go someplace for assistance that involves long waits. Consider backpacks for those purposes, multi-day stay or just a long day away.
Any amount you can do is worth doing.
Organization, redundancy is key. Having supplies stored/hidden in various locations is important in case of fire, flood, seizure, theft, etc.. But, also having premade kits with various items in case some are lost. Don't have all of a specific need in one container. Like all of your fire making items, or all of your ammo, medical, food... Have kits with various supplies. This is especially helpful to use to hand out to family, friends, neighbors that are in need. These could be a 72 hour type kit... reusable container, food, water, hygiene, fire starter, space blanket, flashlight, med kit, instructions, etc.. They should be age or need specific to include foods, entertainment, Bible/inspirational material, meds, multi tool. Being able to quickly grab a container and hand it to someone lessens the exposure of what you have stocked up.
And if you don't have to hand out items, having them organized, ready to go makes bugging out quickly much easier, safer.
It doesn't have to be super expensive. It's definitely better to help out where you can, rather than try and fend off people that you know. Build a relationship with them, so that they may help you.
Urban Prepper - "I am not organized by nature"
...
Urban Prepper: "Come, let's review my scrum board where I analyze progress toward my color-coded, modular, preps storage."
Great video. You went from 'not organized' to 'anal as a mo fo' in about 30 seconds, but its a great design and layout and one I desperately need to go through. Thanks!
...just thinking the same, lol!
LOL!!! This comment his HILARIOUS. Thank you so much, Seth! I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. :)
People who aren't organized by nature HAVE to have a serious system in place...because otherwise, left to our own devices, everything would be in random piles and shoved in corners.

And electrical tape to make lines on the board! Lmao

Collaboration, cooperation...this month-long group of preparedness RUclipsrs videos was a great idea and really shows the lifestyle of a “prepper” in a positive and community-minded way. I’m very much enjoying the month-long journey. Thanks for your video. I always learn from you and the others.
Thank you so much for this comment! Love it!
I am thankful for this post. It helps people break down the overwhelming tasks of prepping into edible bites. It's one of the things that first attracted me to your channel. Logical, rational, REALISTIC, steps to feel more confident in being able to weather a multitude of emergencies. Here I am years later, still taking notes, but now living in a National Forest, in a global pandemic, with unprecedented fires and hazardous air quality and thinking "How can I prepare for Winter here?". Thank you for everything you post and the logic you bring!
Dang. SO much practical advice without all of the silly, typical “prepper” lingo and talk that is so common on other channels. Really great video, and my OCD likes the idea of modules. I’m going to use this. Thanks!
You better get rid off that OCD

mine too! I really need to organize much better than I do.
Very nice and well organized video. As for me, I'm a bit old fashion and believe in the KISS Method. A pen and note book is all I needed. I learned that a lot of the items needed for my prepping fell into other categories and can be used as such. With this being the case I had to either double the item needed or keep that item where it could be accessible quickly. Part of prepping is keeping your items from prying eyes and those that may wish to take it away from you; so when making your container(s) be sure you can remove the label or if it is part of your BOB, Bug Out Bag, have it marked family photographs/photos. No one wants to dig through your family photographs. :-)
Finding that balance between minimalism and prepping. Ugh
Yesssss
Bit of a oxymoron isn't it aha
@@w3bb0y exactly!! Hence, my problem. Any suggestions?
@NPC 1337 that's a great idea. It actually helps with another issue i have which is storage and keeping it in large bins would work! Thank you
Owning nothing but the 3 Bs. 🤣
This is great. I just started gathering enough to need to start the large storage. Great idea to have things spread out. Hidden walls are also great for hiding storage!!
Ooo.... I'd LOVE to have a hidden wall someday! Thanks for watching, Jay!

I keep my small boxes in the big boxes
I use the sterilite latch boxes. My home has a “pantry” in the finished basement, I put a secure door on it and turned it into a prep closet. I used commercial wire shelves and those boxes to organize my gear for medical, survival, radios, etc.
That a Useful video. Having the set up like that kind of relieves mental stress. Least you know where everything is. Instead like me scattered all over the flat.
I have been prepping for two years. I also have been living with my daughter for those 2 years and have had to just store my preps here and there. Yesterday I was finally able to move into my own place. A tiny 2 bedroom apartment. One room will be for preps. Now I'm still wondering how to get organized. This video is a beginning. Thanks!
My biggest issue right now is space! I am trying to find creative storage solutions.Thank you for the great ideas!
Well, besides helping with my preps, this will do wonders for organizing my story ideas and tasks for the graphic novel I'm working on! The idea of a scrum board will be of great value in tracking my progress. Thank you much!
Awesome! Yes, I use different Scrum boards for different projects. A graphic novel would be perfect for this type of strategy!
Solid basic information for preparedness awareness! I've always admired your organization :D Something I severely lack
I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
I live far from urban areas, in a very safe place. My prepping is food, firewood, and medicine. So I collect tools, skills, seeds and useful perennial plants.
Wow! Wow! Wow! This was GREAT! I am an organized person by nature, but I was really having a hard time visualizing how to organize this mass project and the items as they came together. Thank you!!!
I NEEDED to see this video, today! Organization is a must for me to function, so when I saw the board at 2:13 my heart felt so much peace. I've been in my first home for a few months. I'm working feverishly to balance many projects to get my prep area built in basement and my homestead ready for animals and a garden in the spring, AND needing to work as much as possible (I'm the mostly stay at home parent) to pay for it all + more for my stash. #overwhelmed Thank you for this video.
Colour coordination is brilliant. So easy to identify what you need, especially for kids that don't read!
Love the SCRUM idea. Thanks so much for participating in the Collab.
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks for including me in this collaboration!
Ooh, this is good! I really like the shoe box idea, and the color thing is great! I'm going to learn more about how to do the board thing, too; Seems like something like that could help me stay on top of everyday life, as well.
I live in a camper right now, and even though I'm just a beginner to prepping, space is already starting to become an issue with just a few bags of dry goods and a couple stacks of canning jars. I do have a storage unit for my furniture and appliances; Idk why it never occurred to me to keep my preps there. That place is locked up like Fort Knox. Makes me less of a target, too, not having a bunch of food and resources here while I'm crammed in this parking lot with a hundred other struggling folks.
Getting things out of these tiny cabinets and into their own containers and moving the larger items out will make such a difference to smoothify my daily life! I feel like all that spray paint will add up quickly, though, so maybe I'll do the colors with construction paper for now.
I'm excited to get those shoe boxes and get to sorting!
Thanks so much for this info. It seems like most folks who are into this tend to be the more organized type, and this topic doesn't get as much attention as it could. For those of us who want to be organized but need some guidance, this is incredibly valuable. I'm already feeling relieved.
Great organizational methods and devices. You are a wealth of knowledge. Thanks you for your time.
just a side note I wouldn't use tape and paper to label stuff, it's extremely vulnerable to sun or water damage. spray paint old fashion label makers is what I would recommend
also labeling them in multiply places, top, side, rear so the can be omnidirectional
Having preps in a storage unit would be a good idea with all these fires here in Washington. I’ve lived here all my life and never seen so many on the west side!
Yep! I've never seen this many either. I like having my storage unit as a backup cache for some of my Preps.
True. Mines climate controlled, too.
First video I've seen of yours, I'm not disappointed! Thank you for great tips! Subbed.
Thank you so much for dropping by and subscribing, Steph! Welcome aboard!
Just Fabulous! I will take your software developer organizational routes and the laundry bin into my prepping steps! These are much-needed keys to success! Thank you and stay safe!😷
I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
So many great ideas. You may want to consider putting your communication items and electronics in a metal trashcan or something as a makeshift Faraday cage- just in case. Otherwise, bravo! I know what ill be doing in the coming weeks, lol.
Thanks a bunch, Jaime! Good thinking on the faraday cage! I have many of them wrapped in tin foil or in faraday bags, but converting the module to a faraday cage itself would be pretty sweet too.
Thank you! I have been prepping for 3 months by myself, my husband and adult daughter think I am crazy 😜. And I have worked to keep, everything organized. I am going to,use your color coded containers! Again, Thank you!!!!
I was a bit of an odd ball until our Texas winter last year. I gave away lots of water to friends just so they can flush toilets, not to mention coming over for hot showers or to warm up. It's amazing how attitudes change.

Awesome!!! I've been working on this 🤣 for Sooo long! I finally gave in..I needed professional help & I had to hire a Mormon!👍
Haha! People in the Church of LDS are some of the best preppers on the planet! Definitely hire them for professional consultation. Whenever they come to my door I chat their ears off about their #10 canning. I think they get annoyed by me. I love going to their warehouses for wheat. Again, they are AWESOME Preppers!
I hope pretty soon I can buy some of their #10 cans. My others were stolen from a storage several years ago when I had the wrong lock on it.
@@TheUrbanPrepper I had no idea.😂 Many thanks for this great resource. I’m still relatively new to prepping so I love getting new ideas and resources that can help me figure it out. I have so many #10 cans right now I had to get some even larger boxes (with wheels) to corral them (and I’m not even done with my list of things to get)
Thank you for your great video. As a senior, now living in an efficiency apartment, I thought a storage unit would be a safe place to keep things that would not fit in the apartment. This is a warning to y’all. Yesterday, two thugs broke into my 10 x 10 unit and were caught on camera carrying bins and boxes out of my unit. I can kiss it all goodbye. Police can’t get my things back. We are all on our own. Unless a person has an itemized list of each item and its replacement value with back up photos, you can’t even file a claim against your insurance. Learn from my mistake. Itemize each item in each bin in your storage unit and make a video of your items. I feel victimized but I’m also at fault for not taking the time to inventory my storage locker. People who are out of work and hungry will do desperate things. Don’t let anyone know you have your preps in a storage unit.
Vicky, This is one of the things I wanted to mention in my comments above. When SHTF one of the first things to be broken into is the self storage centers. Crooks, thugs, and buttheads all know that there are valuables stored in those units. Things that can be sold for a profit with no questions asked. If I was to put my stuff into storage I would be certain to get it insured and have an inventory list with photographs. Next, I would make certain that the items and stuff that I stored in my unit is something that I can afford to lose. Meaning that the items are not that valuable that they can not be replaced.
Vicky, I'm sorry that this happened to you. I wish you all the best. :-)
Jumpoff A Yep, I take full responsibility for my stupidity. I’m fully insured but can’t submit a claim without proof of loss. I don’t know how many times I reminded myself I needed to go over and inventory everything, but it’s just been such a hot summer here in Texas. Lesson learned. I just wanted to insert my 2 cents here to warn others. Break ins are everywhere now. No neighborhood is safe. Now I’m trying to figure how to move what’s left in my storage into my 500sq ft apt. 😜
@@vickyoftexas You poor thing. I wish I was in Texas to help you out. Your comments are words to be heed. Blessings on you. :-)
Vicky Sheets - How upsetting. I’m sorry that happened to you. It happened to my brother several years ago but he had pictures and receipts and was able to get reimbursed. Are there pictures of some of your things that you’ve taken in the past on your phone? Do you have family members that may have taken pictures from a get together with the items in the picture? I would also check out the local pawn shops and alert them and also online yard sales. You never know.
SJ Mullen yes, I have a few photos but it’s just not worth the effort at this point with my deductible. Lesson learned. I just don’t have the energy at this point. I still have to clean up the major mess they made tearing into boxes & bins. I’m waiting till the weekend to try to settle down. Sorry your brother went through this too. Our world is not what it once was. I just wanted everyone to be aware that this happens, somewhere, everyday. And it will be our homes, soon enough. Stay safe.
Thanks! This is the ultimate prepping system I found at RUclips so far. Very organize, clear and precise. 👍👍👍
Thank you very much, Yang! I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
Everyday. I can 4 days a week plus work in my garden and greenhouse, planting and harvesting constantly.
Never took any of this stuff to seriously, until covid 19. HELLOW!! Slapped together a quick kit, now refining it, getting stuff I originally didn't think of. Well on my way to having a good kit together. These videos are a great source of information, every time I watch one I get information on how to improve what I have.

I am not well organized. I have "things" all over the house. My BOBs are semi-packed with extra items that won't fit inside. I like using the clear plastic containers to hold like items.
I didn't realize I use so many of your prep organization ideas till I saw this vid today. (I was looking for your Bug-in vid and stumbled across this one.) I love your color coordination method and just received my zip ties in the mail yesterday for my BOB. I like your small modules too. Fishing gear for my family BOB is in one though it makes so much sense to use it for so many other preps. Thanks hun! Always love your vids!
This video is so well done and informative. Thank you for sharing all this information. I'm only starting to develop a prepping system, so I'm definitely on a learning curve. I wasn't expecting you to reference Do It On A Dime and other home organizing channels/videos. That was a pleasant surprise.
I wish you well Sir. You have a beautiful family. I don't have the funds to have a setup like yours but I have a basic prep for immediate response. It provided me peace of mind where I feel prepared enough for light-heavy SHTF scenario. Thank you for this info it will help me improve my plans and storage. Keep posting. Many blessings to you. Take care and be well.
Thank you very much. Having peace of mind through your preps is what it's all about.
I have all my Preps in boxes that I have labeled..1 is medical & Lighting aka flash light type products and batteries..another is cooking & Fuel tabs and matches and Pharaoh Rods..one with Drinks & Drink mixes..one box is Hormel complete Meals.. etc...etc
I've been a prepper for nearly 15 years now, but NOTHING motivates you like a deadline. Sadly, it took this year's coming election to provide me with such a thing. But it's a great motivator.
While watching this video I realised that the way I plan, prepare and then do the projects I need or want to do is alot like the cycle of sprints that you show. You have inspired me! Now I'm off to do some more research and planning. I'm preparing to Declutter, clean and rearrange my house so I can see the benefit of working in "sprints". Thank you, blessings, Dot
I just love Urban Prepper. Down to earth and intelligent. Thanks so much.
Hi I'm Prepper Zan I currently live here in Houston Texas & I'm documenting the challenges we're now facing due to the Texas Winter Storm. There is contaminated water, thousands who are now homeless, and so many people still without lights even after a week and a half after the Storm. I have many videos on my Channel of what we're experiencing as Texans!
A fantastic outlook and methodology for preparedness.
Thinking that I may well re-evaluate some of my methods and storage systems.
Many thanks for your efforts and research..
Great stuff.
Just finding this video 2 years later. Excellent coverage of supply organization and superb production-value of your video. One "happy-to-glad" change would be the term Personal, which may infer family photos to you, but tampons to someone else. I use the military acronym MWR, for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, which appears to encompass your items in this module. Definitely checking out the rest of your videos! Stay safe & God bless.
Scrub Board! Brilliant. I like having a binder just for food storage recipes.
I keep a binder as well. It has a guide to 52 weeks towards a 1 year supply of food. I found it on Pinterest from Food Storage Moms. I also have pantry lists, freezer lists, refrigerator lists, and a list for cleaning and personal supplies. I use my receipts to record anything new. If anything is consumed or used it gets an “X” and I know how much I’ve used and when to resupply. My binder also includes car and home emergency lists as well as favorite recipes. Hope this helps someone. Happy prepping everyone! ❤️

Excellent video! Prepping and organizing our 1 car garage right now. A simple hack to beef up privacy: Hang two no-see-thru shower curtains double wide at the front so when the door goes up half the neighborhood doesn't see inside. Don't you love it when nosy drivers slow down to scan your garage?

I'm not a computer person so would never have heard of their task resolution system in a thousand years. My system has different kinds of boxes in different areas for different items but again, that's different perspectives and slightly different situations. If I were to attempt to give the box wizard advice, metal bins, boxes ect. There were already rodent changes of behaviour during lock down. Their usual food sources went with closing fast food, bars, restaurants and they were going into people's homes in some places. What would happen if sewers backed up and then stopped with waste and dead things on the surface might not be pretty, some metal bins or even new trash cans for dry goods might be useful.
Thank you so much for the comment! I would love to be able to get metal bins. I have a hard time finding them in large sizes. Some rodents can go right through the plastic ones, but fortunately I haven't had that problem yet.

Great video! I’ve been working at cataloging and organizing all of the various preps that we have. It seems to be a monumental task just to find out where I stand so far 😩 collecting just a little bit at a time over the course of years really adds up. I am also paralyzed at all the categories I have really filled in over the years too. Though I am seeing where the gaps are just writing down and looking at my lists which is great! Prepping ain’t just food and water! I’ve also prepped for shelter, fire, defense, gardening, canning (metal and glass), reloading, and so much more. I realize now I need to color code and break it down into core categories to make it more manageable one at a time. Of course I have started with food and water and have yet to move on to the other categories. I’m going to take a page from your book and color code everything for ease of use. I may also invest in a different organizing method such as shelving, rolling totes, or heck, even a shed of some sort! Preps take up room.
Genius. As a coder I greatly appreciate the incorporation of modules and the kanban board. Extremely useful tools in every aspect of life.
This is an incredibly simple way to get started. As someone with mountains of gear/materials, this is exactly what I needed to see.
Also an excellent idea on using social accountability. Truly works.
Deserves a lot more views.
Thank you very much, Amber! I'm glad that you enjoyed this video topic. It's always great to meet a fellow Techie Prepper!
Saw you have the Kelly Kettle on the board. Just an FYI, you cant used it to cook food with the grill topper unless you have water in it. It will melt...yes, I learned the hard way after using it for the first time last month...
Thanks for the heads up! I'm just starting with the research on this one.
I just dug into a 7 year old bag of Knoor noodles, smashed from moving, holes in the bag
DELICIOUS! Buying out the store next week. GEAT STUFF FOR PENNIES!!!
I am alone on this and i'm so glad that this is going to help me prepper smart not hard! for myself and my 6 year old! Thanks!
Sir, you're the most prepared person I've ever seen. Congratulations. 👏👏👏
Wow! Thank you so much! I'm still working on it though!
so we had a major loss of power several months ago, and we thought we were good on candles and light because we had like 2 dozen tea candles...ya...tea candles are really shitty for light. might want to replace those with traditional candle sticks. in my experience you'll need 3-5 tea candles to get the same amount of illumination as a single candle stick.
I agree. The tea light candles don't compete with regular candles. I have those too.
@@TheUrbanPrepper we also had about half a dozen scented candles, so we figured we'd be pretty good on light for at least a little bit lol...
If you can cut the crappy LED flame covers off them they do a lot better, but it is fairly annoying in my experience. Good for tabletop gaming projects though!
@@nine1690 the tea candles i have never had any sort of cover on them
You may want to look into some small battery operated LED lanterns. Candlesticks can be a fire hazard unto themselves. And a few extra batteries take up no more room than the candlesticks would have.
Great video. Very informative
Thanks a bunch, Damion!
Please do a video about items that can safely be stored in a garage (especially southern states).
So glad I found your channel! As a fellow Seattle area resident, these last few months have really got me thinking about doing more for emergency preparedness. I appreciate all your thoughtful videos to help guide me on my preparedness journey. Thanks!
Welcome aboard, Frank! It's nice to meet a fellow Seattle area Prepper!
TheUrbanPrepper well just starting the journey. But thanks for the inspiration!
I love how you have mentioned the Scrum board and Sprints terminology. I personally am studying for the Agile practitioner exam.
I'm glad that you liked it! It think it works well with emergency preparedness planning. We use it every day at work, so why not at home? Thanks for watching!
The idea of using a Kanban board to get organised for prepping is great. I'm going to set one up in Notion. Fabulous idea!. Tx.
That was really thought of them and you for contributing this massive collection! Thank you all. We owe you
Great video, I liked the part about connectedness with others. That's what we'll need in the end. Cheers
Some great information
A questions I had you already addressed.. well done brother
Thanks for the video
Great job on this video I've been a prepper since the late 1970's so I don't even remember how I got started it was something that "just happened" we didn't have all the available help back then as people have today. Thanks to guys like you less expensive mistakes will be made. We can't afford to make any mistakes right now. I hope a lot of newbies are watching and learning.
Thank you so much, Janet! I really appreciate the kind words.
Omg this is awesome! I sooo needed this. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video. I've only started prepping about 5 months ago, but this will bring me into a whole new level. I love the modules and the scrum board!
Awesome! I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
Great video! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
I have a pantry that's the size of a small bedroom, so I keep all my food preps there. The rest of my preps are in my garage. Being a Vet I have several bags ready to go and I have all kinds of medical gear that I'm proficient with since that was my job in the navy. I'm pretty ocd with organization. I trained my junior guys that we all had our medical bags laid out the same so if I grabbed someone's bag I didn't have to look for what I needed because we all had the same.
@10:38, we actually bugged out from a natural disaster, on foot, with everything important in a laundry basket. Couldn’t find a bag. 🙂
As an ENTP prepper, , I needed something like this in my life!!! This organization stuff is amazing sorcery to me
ENTP (beginner) prepper here as well. I am actually amazing at cleaning and organizing (to the point that I was side-hustling for awhile doing this), but can't seem to do it for myself. It's such a joke. In my own life I am kind of lazy and my stuff is not interesting, but other people's stuff is. That all went to the wayside because coming back to service the same places and people bored the crap out of me after awhile. I was also dx'd with ADHD at age 40+ which doesn't help. Lol When I hyper-focus I can accomplish an insane amount of things though. All my preps right now are chucked into some bins and in a closet until they can be broken out and fine-tuned. They were previously all over the floor in one section of my living room. The struggle is real. 😄
Being organized is my weak point 😣
It is mine too. I have to try really hard to stay organized. Having your folks watching my videos really does help me stay accountable. Naturally, I am prone to just put stuff away randomly, causing my office to be a huge mess. :)
I agree, my stuff is all over the place...getting ready to start fixing all that though as one of my storage sheds is being torn down and everything will be now stored in 1 location...its about time LOL.
I just started getting everything I have organized and counting what I have!

Very good advice for those urban side especially:) My daughter is an executive and uses project boards all the time. Something like what you are suggesting I think takes city prepping to a new psychological level.
I was a farmer for many years so keeping inventory of canned food, what I needed to can that food (down to the seeds) was second nature to complete a job.
When I moved to San Diego where I didn’t farm I found myself in an earthquake zone. I had a small condo so I went out and rented a small temp controlled storage area. There I began putting water filtration systems, freeze dried foods, water, and all of my camping gear which was more than adequate for creating a bug out or inch bag.
Returning home to Michigan, where I know where the blackberries are wild, which fields has asparagus, where the roads or trails go, gives me just that much of an edge because planning for the worst was a result of creating the best in the first place.
It isn’t hoarding when you are responsibly gathering those items to survive or thrive. When the corn gets too wet to get off the fields you have a backup plan… you make silage.
Good job! I enjoyed listening to your podcast. The scenes in the Ukraine will be repeated in our own Country, like during Katrina, if we don’t do what we can, learn what we can, just because we ARE/ CAN BE self reliant.
I 💘 that color coded system. Ive never seen bins with all those colors though locally.
I had to custom make the lids using spray paint. Pretty easy to do though.
He had the spray paint cans by the totes to show us he painted the lids. 😊
I love the scrum board method.. I'm a facilities director and I need a way to get my guys on task and this will work awesome.
Thank you for the upload. The tips you shared are doable, and I have no excuse to not to execute. Time to get up off of my butt and get to work!
This helped me figure out out to get it done. My spouse isn't the SHTF type but she does like me getting stuff ready for storms. Gonna show her this video and maybe I'll get her on board. Even with ballin on a budget..
Thank you so much from France, you made an amazing work with this channel.
Take Care
This video makes my Type A personality very happy! Your organizational skills are top notch!!
That's great to hear. Thank you very much!
This is so awesome! And so true! I struggle with organizing my preps all the time and it really does come close to hoarding, which is explicitly not my goal
New to prepping, didnt think I made enough money to get ready, thanks to a few preppers on u tube im well on my way that was 3 months ago thank you for the tips
Great video. Thanks for all the info. We have been adding to our food storage and preparedness items over the years. This is helpful too.
Thank you. I have a 72 hour kit, and extra food, especially now that winter is coming, and the election.
Thank you, Well Done and Full of Great ideas!
Excellent video! I wish I saw this when I was neck deep in home prep items. Bless my husband for being patient with all the mess we had around the living room for weeks! And for turning a blind eye to all the money I spent 😅
This is exactly what I was looking for to start prepping too. Thanks 🙏!
