They screwed up on Brady because of Coach Carr at Michigan. They had two good qb’s - Brady and Drew Henson- at Michigan and Carr couldn’t make up his minds on who to use. That uncertainly-Carr’s incompetence-caused to NFL hesitate. There were college coaches -Nick Sabin-who knew how good Tom was. Nick said he was glad Michegan didn’t useTom , because he knew Tom could beat him. No one’s ever held Carr responsible, and NFL coaches screwed up. The guys who played with Tom at Michigan knew he was going to be something special. But Tom was a star in college.

I just have a feeling if Mariucci and Brady joined forces, Brady might've helped to re-create the 49ers 21st century dynasty and I have no doubt that Steve would've loved him like a son. Say what you want about Mariucci's failures but he is a really warm hearted guy who would've treated Tom a bit differently than how Bill treated him. Tom and Bill are the best QB/Coach pair in history, but they always seemed to be coach/player. It would've been a very different dynamic with Steve. Much more family oriented, a surrogate father-son relationship I think.

I ONLY knew who Brady was at draft time because he beat my college his senior year. Even then we have to remember that EVERY team including the 49ers was looking for the next Steve Young or even Brett Favre: Thick to take abuse, cannon arm & athletic. Favre was from a small school. Finally, I have to admit that in 2001, I thought Bledsoe should get his job back when healthy & that he could’ve taken that Pats team to the SB just like he took the ‘96 Pats team there. Bledsoe came into the AFC title game against the 2001 Steelers & his play helped the Pats get to the Super Bowl. Even then we thought that the Rams would destroy the Pats. Lol. So Mariucci accepting advice from Bill Walsh in the drafting of Giovanni Carmazzi over Brady is just an example of how hard it is to evaluate a college QB for the pros.

This will haunt Mariucci for the rest of his life. He had Tom sitting right there and instead he went for the other guy because he was more mobile ect. Thank you. Likewise.
      BTW
I think Tom would have gone to his 11th SuperBowl if not for 2 things
      1. the questionable possibly corrupt Referee calling his last game who should be investigated-the one who called Brady and Suh for unsportsmanlike conduct (who not only FAILED TO CALL the Actual infractions committed by LA but then called 2 unsportsmanlike penalties against Brady and Suh)
      AND
      2. the loss of focus on the secondary giving up a deep 42 yd throw to Cupp right after Tom tied it up.
Tom Brady probably has a distinct psychological advantage over his opponents and when he tied the game, his opponents tend to panic,I am 100% sure if the game had gone to overtime Tom and Tampa would have won.

Poor Mooch. He wasn't the only team that passed on Brady. But he was right, the NFL wanted the scrambling QB and even as a pocket passer Brady was not high on that list either. The Patriots took a shot at a possible backup to Bledsoe with their last pick.
I know from the early days how the draft pissed Brady off. Even his time here in Tampa he still had that fire. The competitiveness. This last season, the team could not get it done and you see Tom straining to pull the team forward. He did manage some nice 4th Qtr comebacks this past season.

Imagine if Brady did go to the Niners!! No imagine if he does next year!! I feel confident that the Niners talent adding Brady Gronk and Edalman and another pass rusher would win another SuperBowl and maybe undefeated!!!

If they add Brady and Gronk I can guarantee Godwin will go San Fran as well.

@@Rwp019 that would be Awesome!! If Godwin hadn’t got injured I feel like the Bucs would’ve beat the Rams and then the Bengals,. Wishful armchair I know lol.
