I’m trying to do a no buy/low buy this year for perfumes for 2025. You are one of the few fragrance channels that I continue to follow because you are not trying to “influence me” to run out and buy every new perfume. You actually have interesting content without hyping every perfume.
Thank you! ❤️ I absolutely promise you that I will never take paid promotion nor use affiliate links. I have zero interest in flogging anything to anyone. I just make content for fun and because I want to share my experiences with people and show what really goes on with fragcom, so I hope that comes across! Good luck with your no buy / low buy! 🥰
My Claire will be the Joe Rogan of fragrances one day! Always a pleasure to listen to her! Something will happen or somebody will hear this fascinating youtuber and then the real Michelin stars for fragrances on YT will come only from the best ones! Claire, when you will be famous people will ask you "Did you ever see it coming? You will say "NO, but that crazy lady from Eastern Europe did" :))))))))))))
How nice of Ormande Jane to reach out to you! Much respect to them. Yes it takes so much courage to say you don’t like something. I always wonder what people are going to say when I say I don’t like something
It's really really hard isn't it? Especially when it's not the status quo opinion. I rarely like hyped stuff so I find myself in this position a lot 🤣 Ormonde Jayne have my utmost respect. I've not had that experience from another brand who will remain nameless! I think it takes a confident brand that know they have a great product to be generous enough to say, hey try our other fragrances, there'll be one you love. I totally respect and big them up for that approach. It's refreshing! 🥰
Oh, Lush! I adore this brand! It was my "gateway drug" into indies more than a decade ago because of the indie chatter on their forum. I have Lush perfumes more than 15 years old and they smell divine, I believe because of their high quality ingredients. I trust this company, ethically and artistically. My faves are Vanillary, Rose Jam, Lust, American Cream...and of course, good baby boomer hippie that I am, Karma! Oh, you have me interested in that High Street one! Keep up your amazing work, Claire! So many of us love these videos.
Rose Jam is fab and Lust too! I could collect a few I think! I know I've tried American Cream and Vanillary but I don't remember which is which, I know one is a lemony vanilla 😂 Karma is a classic too! I'm happy you enjoyed the video, have a lovely week and thanks for watching 🥰
Yes! I was astounded by that and thought how amazing really, because they've totally turned that situation around. Of course they aren't all for me, but I know there's at least one that is now! 🥰
I definitely want to try more from Fragrance Du Bois. I really like Cavort and Sirene. I got a mental picture of you following the person around trying to smell Halfeti. I’ve done it to trying to be discreet. Great video 💜
Ooh I've not tried Cavort, I did sniff it from the nozzle last week in store but I'd already sprayed every inch of spare skin with other things! It was weird with that lady. I knew it was Halfeti yet I still wanted to just smell it more and more 🤷♀️ she honestly smelt amazing! 😍 Thanks Liz! 🥰
You could not be more right about CT❣️ All the ones I've tried are just okay. I feel the same way about their makeup line...Fancy packaging but the contents are lackluster. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your weekend ❤
I've not tried their makeup, but it's crazily expensive here in the UK. I have a dupe of Pillow Talk from Flower Beauty that I thoroughly enjoy, but I don't feel I need the original CT. The fragrances felt a bit underwhelming, and in some cases, not pleasant to me (more s*x, especially) but I can see why some people really liked Magic Energy. Thanks for watching! Have a fab week! 🥰
Yes! Lush have made perfumes for many years and they are worth trying. Their bodysprays are well regarded, I'm normally sniffly about bodysprays but I've tried a few and I really like Twilight. 🥰
Hi Claire! I definitely want to explore more from Lush and Serge Lutens. I have several samples, and my favorite is Chergui, such an interesting scent! Lord of Misrule is also on my wishlist. With Lush, it’s a hit or miss for me, some perfumes smell too synthetic. I absolutely hate being in the Lush store, though. I can only last about ten minutes in there. I'm really interested in trying Levant (what a beautiful name) from Ormonde Jayne, as well as Byzance, another mythical name. I don’t think I’ll enjoy Levant either but the name alone makes me want to try it. Let me finish watching the video now. 🧡
Yes! Serge Lutens have some really interesting fragrances and I definitely want to try more! Lord of Misrule is gorgeous, I find it a bit malty in a way, it makes me think of Horlicks in the drydown 😂 Ormonde Jayne have a very definite signature style and I think know that Geza Schoen is their main perfumer explains a lot to me. 🥰
Lovely rundown of 15 houses! Serge Lutens STILL has offerings I’d like to try-and I own 7. 🙈 Like another commenter said, Fils de Joie is worth finding a second hand bottle of. 😊 I’d love a discovery set from Ormonde Jayne, and Lush too. There a Lush store in my city but it’s an olfactive overload to test in store, especially if other guests are testing and sampling around you. Musk K from Ella K is one I think I’d really love from that brand. Happy Holidays Dr. Claire! ❤️
Ooh ok, another person saying go for Fils de Joie 😭 if only I could find a bottle... Still I have a sample coming 😊 the Ormonde Jayne sets have surprised me, absolutely not 100% for me, but one I really enjoy and some I like too. Lush is fab but yes! It's noisy, olfactory speaking. Your endorsement makes me even more curious about Ella K too! Thanks for letting me know what you think! 🥰
Good morning Claire, I recently rediscovered Fragonard and would like to wear more of their fragrances next year. Their Rose Lavender and Jasmine Pearl Tea are gorgeous. I would also like to try more of tea fragrances because I find them so refreshing and if done well, really lovely. Thank you for the video
Looking forward to this one 😊 Yes Lush is a very full on shop isn't it 🤣. Yes you do seem to have really fallen for them. I think you're spot on, they're very raw fragrances. They are such a distinctive brand. Simon does have a great mind. SMN the one I tried was a nice one. And love your honesty, we absolutely cannot connect with all them. Yes Vespa can probably carry off fragrances none of us can 🤣. CT 🙄 I agree with the overhype. 😅 We defo don't agree about them not being terrible. Yes they were similar to the Penhaligons. They were talked about alot for a month and then vanished forever 😉 as these PR ones that don't even come close to the hype. If you're a cashmeran lover, then they are probably for them. R Yes the SL is a lovely one. The ones I've tried I've really enjoyed. Again I think sadly the older ones that have probably gone. OJ do have some nice ones. What I genuinely appreciate about them is they have such a mix, there are some you'll love and some you won't. And unlike most brands they appreciate that. There are a few I absolutely love. Salt Works... From what I've seen about them they don't appeal to me. The adverts seem very actory in my own humble opinion. And yes Claire your video was fair, we can't love them all. They seem to remind me of them FM fragrances that were about a few years ago. End of p1
Lush is definitely not all for me but there are some loves, I'm definitely not always in a Lush mood but I think they perhaps are better suited to winter than summer in general. SMN just weren't my jam, absolutely nothing wrong with them though. I know there's a special place in fragrance hell for those Charlotte Tilbury fragrances for you. I'll admit they used the world's supply of cashmeran (that not already bagged by Barénia). I'm going to buy an SL sample set... Eventually. OJ seems like an on the level brand. I will work my way through the florals next, it seems that lots of people seem to enjoy Damask. Saltworks.... Oh dear.... And yes, I was gifted samples, so I reviewed them, but I don't want to lead anyone astray nor ruin anyone's business but they most certainly weren't for me.
@@dr.claire.perfume I think you are always fair and do a great job with all the samples you review Claire. I do get a good impression. Yes Lush I'd say are more winter leaning 🤣. I've loved a couple from And they are a little easier for me
Good on you, Claire, for exploring. There are so many brands out there now it makes my head spin sometimes. Ormonde Jayne seems quite popular at the moment
Yes! I agree, I remember feeling hugely overwhelmed and like I didn't know where to start to begin with but I guess you just take your opportunities and sample as much or as little as you feel like. I agree with you Ormonde Jayne are popular right now. I guess perhaps because they just released two new fragrances a few months back and perhaps people are discussing those? Have a lovely weekend 🥰
Fragrance du Bois is an interesting one! For a while I almost ignored them? But after Serene and Voyage a Paris something changed… I am there with you, need to try more!❤
I loved the Petales one. I had judged them before that based solely on Canna bis Blue but then Petales made me want to go try Sirène. It's like Kajal, if I only tried Aican or one of their other fruity bangers that are totally not for me, I'd not realise that they had Yasmina. 🥰
I absolutely love trying things from all sorts of different houses. I just ordered a bunch of 5 ml decants of different brands. I do want to check out more from Electimuss as well, I have Vanille Edesia decant on the way. I just love this! So much fun to try new things, even if you don't end up liking them.
Yes me too! I am quite happy with sampling. It scratches the itch for something new. Electimuss do have some nice ones! Just a lot with saffron 😂 what other brands did you pick up? 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume I got decants of L'eau Papier, Mon Ami, Un Air d'Apogee, Rivalite Imperiale, The Architect's Club, Vanille Antique, Lilac Love, Bottega Vendetta EDP, and Vanilla Eclat. But I also want to explore the horses of Laurent Mazzone, Ormaie Paris, Essential Parfums, Bo, and a bunch of other ones. Too much, really 😅
Wow! That's a lot! 😅 I'll be interested to know what you think. I've tried L'eau Papier, I think that's done well for them and I've tried not tried un air d'apogee but lots of my fellow RUclipsrs rate pourpre d'automne and I've tried that one. Architect's Club I thought I'd love and I didn't. Vanille Antique I tried a few years back in store and now can't remember 😅 I should go try it again! And obviously I love BV and LL. 😊 House of Bō is probably another brand for me to add to 2025's list!
@@dr.claire.perfume yeah... I went a little crazy getting decants. But it was my birthday recently, and I was justifying it 😂. And I've been enjoying getting decants recently, as opposed to full bottles. Though, I do have some that are on my wishlist. But often the decants scratch the itch, and if I fly through my decant, and still want more, then I know I want a full bottle. But it's a better way to test, than having just a ml or two. Don't feel like I can truly get my thoughts about a fragrance with less than at the very least 3 mls.
I think it’s wonderful that you are honest. Ornond Jayne sounds like a great brand. Have you reviewed Phlur? I’m interested in knowing more about that brand.
Thank you ❤️ I haven't tried Phlur, but there is a shop near me that stocks their discovery set, so maybe I will in time. I don't think they are as popular in the UK as in the US. 🥰
Hello Claire! Apart from trying just one fragrance from these houses (Ormonde Jayne's Ormonde Woman, which I quite like except that it's so fleeting), I haven't tried any of the others. I appreciate hearing about them, including whether you liked or disliked them. I believe I have a bit of a sense of your taste in fragrances, such that I can even tell if I might like something you dislike. So as always, I greatly appreciate your honesty. About Charlotte Tilbury's line, I find there's so little nuance about the packaging and marketing, I've been too put off to even try them. I hope you have a lovely holiday season. 🦋🧡🦋
Yes, I can understand that. Even when someone has quite different taste, sometimes they say things that might suggest to me that I might like it and should try it. It's useful! The CT fragrances are very dense feeling. If you are sensitive to cashmeran, then they are a lot. I heard from someone who talked with a perfumer that ambrox chemicals got more expensive and cashmeran now is relatively cheaper in comparison. Given the abundance of cashmeran based scents at the moment, I am inclined to believe the hearsay 😂 it's either that or there's a shift in style of late to a denser feel. You too! I'm looking forward to a break and a reset! One more week at work! 😉 Have a fab week. 🥰
I'm listening as I'm working around the house, just grabbing a coffee now, and I'm enjoying your company.. have you ever thought about doing a podcast? I think you'd be brilliant at that! You're just onto Electimuss right now, I'll pop back in for a comment at the end! 😊❤
Haha Tammy that's what I should have been doing... I spent the afternoon wrapping gifts. I'm still not done 🤦♀️ but my house is a tip! I would love to do a podcast but I literally have no time as it is with one video a week on YT. When I retire 😂
@@dr.claire.perfumei am💜. Loved hearing your thoughts. Lush always surprises me. There are quite a few that I'm not as familiar with on your list, but I'm tickled that you like FdB. Great video!
🤣 yes! I agree! I was quite taken with Petales de Cashmere, it really surprised me. I never thought FdB did gentle, I had the impression that they were all bangers 😂
Looking forward to the next years reviews on the brands you mentioned wanting to try more from. Personally, I haven’t tried many of these. Would love to, though. Currently keen to try out Atelier des Or (not Lune Feline as I’m not a fan of cardamom in perfumes).
Good morning Claire. Like you, I’m also trying not to buy large bottles any more. If there is a 10 or 15ml that’s perfect. Discovery sets and individual samples are the way to go. I did try Levant a couple of years ago, when people were raving about it, but it didn’t work for me. Damask is lovely, and I ended up getting a 50ml of Indus. Same with FDB Santal Complet. Had my friend over for a Sip and Sniff session. Tried it on skin and it smelled like BO on me. She agreed. Then she put it on and it was completely different. I can’t remember if you’ve tried Une Nuit Nomade yet. Their discovery set is so colourful, and they sell 25, 50 and 100ml of their fragrance. In the new year I want to try the Atelier Materi discovery set. I love the idea of you doing a podcast or how about a live RUclips session where you sample and interact with comments? 😃🇦🇺
I will move onto the florals from Ormonde Jayne over Christmas and will look out for Damask, it seems to be a favourite for a lot of people and I'm curious 🧐 😂 Gosh! Who knows how Santal Complet will be on me 😂 I've not tried Une Nuit Nomade but they are on my to sample list for sure. I've tried quite a lot of the Atelier Matieri, they are worth sampling. If I actually buy samples for those, I will make a video. I don't think I'm the type of person for lives. I've been invited on a few and always turned them down. I don't really have the time either sadly, recording and editing one video a week is about all I can cope with! It takes me a long time. Have a fab week 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume oh yes, I forgot it was him! I think Molecule is the most successful scam in the fragrance history lol. Sell ambroxan for $200 and say it’s special and smells unique on everyone 😆
🙊 I could possibly agree 😅 I remember reading that another perfumer, I can't remember which, said they only wear ambroxan, nothing else. They said it was their favourite smell. I guess at one point it was relatively expensive actually and there wasn't the diversity in derivatives and versions from different companies that there is today! 🥰
Thanks Claire! I really want to explore Lush and Welton London. I was blown away by 2 from House of Bo and they are releasing more in the summer. I'd love to try more from Guerlain Art & Material line. Remember they made neroli haters enjoy Neroli Plein Sud😂And totally cool what Ormande Jayne did! Hope you have a great weekend.
Welton and house of Bo and both on my lists for next year, they are very long 😂 Yes Guerlain is a brand that I consistently seem to appreciate. I have some to review actually, I should film that. Yes Ormonde Jayne really surprised and impressed me and clearly they aren't all for me, but I've enjoyed trying them and I do really like one so far and I've got the second set to go. I think that kind of thing probably just shows that they do actually care and that's always a reassuring thing with fragrance brands. You too! Have a fab weekend ☺️ thanks for watching 🥰
I didn't even knew Lush was doing perfumes! Also I feel like Charlotte Tilbury is overated by default, but doing perfumes just for the sake of getting into another market is just meh...Great video, Claire! x
Hi dr.Claire, another bang video, thanks 🎉 I just had the opportunity to try Charlotte's discovery set, and I have to say I understand and agree with you they different than what the market is offering...it's was a refreshing experience. But also, they're nothing to die for but Magic Energy, which I have on my wishlist. With that said, for the American market, every fragrance that the set is offering is somehow unique as we don't have easy access to Penhaligon's perfumes, and CT is sold at Sephora. Your comment made me wonder if her collection was not targeting the European market. About Ormonde Jaine, you got me even more curious bc I also had the impression they were a more natural-feeling perfume brand. I have a set from Electimuss and their fragrance smelled really alike among them 😂 maybe is the saffron. Halfetti is amazing, but I couldn't wear...I get it! Juniper sling is the love of my life, but doesn't last 30min on my skin...so sad💔 Great video🎉
Ooh that's a really interesting point. You could definitely be onto something there! I feel like Charlotte Tilbury in general might be more aimed at the US. I know absolutely no one who buys their makeup here but then perhaps I just don't meet people that do, I don't know. 🤔 There were definite vibes with the Potions range from Penhaligon's but really the most similar was Love Frequency, that's the one that really hit me. Magic Energy was definitely the one that made me the most interested. I can totally see if you've sniffed a lot of things that would be the one that would make you stop and want to sniff it again. Ormonde Jayne do use a lot of naturals, I know for sure that they do, but the perfumer for many of their fragrances is Geza Schoen, so eccentric molecule bloke, so I think that might be why Levant surprised me, because I wasn't expecting to smell molecular notes, I was expecting it to be entirely "natural smelling" florals, which it was but with quite a lot of ambroxan too, which to be fair was mega in the opening but did dissipate a bit. Yes! I also have that feeling with Electimuss! 😂 I tried two in a row and went back to the vials to check they were different 😂 they were and they did go in different directions as they dried down. Juniper Sling is fab! My friend wore that one, really zingy! I really like juniper anyway. I'm happy that you liked the video 😊 makes it all worth it. 🥰
😂 yes, I totally understand that reaction from some of the bad ones I've smelt. Oud can be lovely to me too though. I wish I knew what makes me sometimes absolutely hate it and sometimes love it. 🥰
OUD is tricky for me too! I purchased an oud oil, it only has Arabic writing on it so I don’t know what it’s called but it smells like the church pews when I was a kid and we used to clean the church as a family… Lol
I've been thinking about which of these brands I'd be the most interested in exploring more, and I think maybe it would be Ella K.. The way you were saying the K is the correct way to pronounce that letter in French (many years of having to recite the alphabet in French in my school years! 😅) so it may have been a French speaking person saying it that way.. Great video Claire! 🙏🏼🥰
Thank you! ❤️ Yes, you're right, it is! I think it was a British team who work with lots of brands to promote fragrances on Insta saying "Car", so I assume that that must be the brand's intention because I would have thought they'd be working with them, but I'm not sure 🤷♀️ maybe the brand don't care 😂 maybe they just want to be talked about 😂 I am intrigued anyway! Have a lovely weekend 🥰
I haven't tried Musc, Camellia, and Orchid but I've tried pretty much everything else from Ella K, and have recently finished my bottle of Poeme de Sagano. It's a funny brand in that half of their fragrances smell very naturalistic and the other half very perfumey. I much prefer the naturalistic ones - my favorites are Poeme (a mellow, meditative citrus-bamboo scent), Reflet sur l'Okavango (smooth acacia, heavy with pollen) and Memoire de Daisen In (a fresh tea and rose scent with a fizzy citrus opening). This year I've explored mainly Ella K, Frederic Malle (such a high quality house), and Ormaie. Top of my list for next year is sampling some of the Guerlain L'Art et la Matiere collection - I'm almost ashamed to say this but I've fallen in love with the bottle design so I'm hoping to fall in love with a scent too so I can have a reason to buy a bottle!
Cool! Ok, that makes sense from the reviews. The ones that you've described sound lovely, especially Reflet. I have lots of Guerlain samples... I need to make a video! You're the second person to mention Ormaie 🤔 have a fab week! 🥰
Penhaligon’s Is one where I do find the bottle attractive🤩… I think of the fragrances as all florals that might’ve been my ‘jam’ in my 20s. But watching Frances talk about them definitely makes me curious to experience them. ☺️
Yes! Frances loves Elisabethan Rose and also Artemisia. I've tried Elisabethan Rose, it's a peppery garden fresh rose - geranium, quite powdery too in the drydown from memory from a few years back. I'd recommend Solaris if you like bright fresh sunny florals. 🥰
Thanks,Claire! Good to hear your thoughts on these brands. I will be sampling from Papillon Artisan Perfumes (Salome/Tobacco Rose/Anubis), Parfum d'Empire (Cuir Ottoman/Musc Tonkin/Ambre Russe/Le Cri), and Histoires de Parfums (1740/1899) this week. I credit Kate Khara (love her videos!) for my recent foray into Serge Lutens;I sampled Santal Majuscule and La Fille De Berlin. Will try Chergui and a couple others next. Nothing I can't live without so far. Honestly,I'm more of a dedicated tire-kicker when it comes to fragrances.
Anubis is really evocative, I've not tried the other two, or any of the parfum d'empire or the histories de parfums. Yes Kate loves Serge Lutens, Paola Bianka did too if you remember her videos? She sent me three of the samples that I have a few years back 😊 I think in reality, I just like trying new things and sampling is usually enough unless it's absolute love! That's perfectly ok 😂 Thanks for watching 🥰
Vra Vra Vroom from Penhaligon’s is one of my favourite perfumes. It’s so unusual and I love osmanthus. I also love some of their floral perfumes like Bluebell and Lily of the Valley. I agree with lots of your other brand overviews here despite not having a huge overlap in which perfumes we both like. I do love your videos and bought Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant because of your review and I love it very much. So spicy and reminds me of Jamaican ginger beer as it dries down.
Vra vra vroom is well regarded, even if it wasn't for me, I think I struggle with their use of molecular notes, but if you aren't sensitive then they are interesting! I've not tried Bluebell nor Lily of the Valley, but in general, I do love LOTV in fragrances, so that could be a winner. I love the design on the bottle, it looks so Edwardian. I wore Jungle yesterday. It's very striking isn't it?! Today is Pomegranate Noir. Thanks for watching and have a fab week! ☺️
I’m trying to be more considered with full bottle purchases and in the process of slimming down what I’ve got. My brands to try are more Francesca Bianchi, Molinard (a couple of patchouli frags and Habanita), Jorum Studios, Eris Parfums, Malbrum, some Maison Crivelli extraits, and the Prada Olfactories collection. I want to explore more Italian brands like Laboratorio Olfattivo. There’s a Canadian brand called Persons of Interest which I’m waiting to be available in the UK. And one day, I will hopefully find the Amouage for me🙂 Personally, slow sampling is the way forward I think! Intrigued to try the new releases from Lush (so many of them) but agree that the shop experience is already overwhelming for further sampling and a few of their old fragrances stains the skin. A brand that’s definitely not for me is Kerosene- lots of money spent on samples and a full bottle of Followed and I just passed them on as they just don’t work on my skin.
I've not tried Kerosene but they prompt strong reactions, positive and negative and they were massively hyped so I imagine they are crazily strong! Eris I had a sample set of, I didn't review it before gifting it away, perhaps I should have done. I do want to try some Francesca Bianchi, those have been on my list for a good year or more. Molinard is underrated I think. I don't know why it's not more talked about. Affordable and good. Slow sampling is absolutely the best. I am currently feeling very overwhelmed by the number of samples that I have and I want to make a lot of review videos in 2025 and record my thoughts as if I don't do that, I feel like I just forget what I thought about things. Have a fab weekend 🥰
You are speaking my language here Claire! Lush and Serge Lutens dominate my collection: I own the most bottles of each of these houses in my collection. I’d think you should be able to find a second hand bottle of Fils de Joie. It’s an almost indolic jasmine bomb. Quite heady, and not an easy reach but I love it so. Ella K is a fantastic house IMHO. Ghibli is a recent find; a sultry, almost gourmand leather. I have my first decant from Ormaie coming this week and excited to try it. Looking forward to your thoughts on these brands in 2025 Claire 🌸 TFS 😘
I've been looking Jill 😭 I've not spotted one. Em said she has a sample she will send me so I will try it at least! Ghibli sounds right up my street. I have seen the Ormaie bottles online, they are very striking! Good luck! 🥰
I remember serge lutens as the first niche company I could try many years ago. These were times when I didn't know about the existence of "non-designer" perfumes 😂. Their fragrances were very unique back then - I have no idea about their newer perfumes but the older ones are really great.
@@dr.claire.perfume I liked L'orpheline, which is like a delicate churchy incense. I also apreciated Chergui and Ambre Sultan but they were too dense for me. I really would like to try De Profundis but there is only one online store selling it in my country and there are no samples
@izaj yes l'orpheline is really nice! I have a sample. 😊 I want to try Ambre Sultan and Chergui. That's a shame that you can't find samples for De Profundis. 🥰
Vivienne Westwood fragrances seem sort after now, people seem to especially love Naughty Alice. I've ever not seen the one you like, I imagine it's rare now. 🥰
I only tested three of these brands. Mizensir I perceived as boring, I did not come across a bad fragrance but they are just too simple for me. Ormonde Jayne I appreciate more. I have a bottle of Montabaco Verano, which is my office scent. Their range is nice and above average but I didn't find another 10 out of 10 scent so far. Fragrance du Bois are a bit of a wild card and indeed peaked my interest. Because I perceive their perfumes as more eclectic and unique. I have come close to buy from them but never pulled the trigger. Funny enough I tend to only ever fall in love with one perfume per brand, although I can clearly smell a signature in almost every fragrance range. So it would be logically to opt for several frags per brand. But so far that did not happen except for Thomas de Monaco, of which I have the Raw Gold (first batch) and Sol Solgado. The brands I'm planning to test more of in the new year are: Fragrance du Bois, Stéphane Humbert Lucas, Parfums d'Elmar, Widian and more Amouage (especially their Opus range, I have the Opus XIV Royal Tabacco)
Yes I agree with you on Miszensir, nothing bad, just not me and nothing stood out. Ormonde Jayne there is at least one for me and I totally see that they have a house style but also distinctive individual fragrances, I will be happy to test 24 of them! Fragrance Du Bois I initially dismissed, until I tested Petales de Cashmere and then I was very interested! I want to try more. I agree to they seem eclectic. I've not tried Widian and I'm curious about SHL. I have one of the Amouage Opus line (III) so far but I want more Amouage in my life Thanks for watching 🥰
Levant is essentially an inspiration of fleur narcotique by ex nihilo and there are already many on the market that came out earlier. It’s beautiful but redundant
I’m longing to try Zoologist they just sound so interesting! Elephant, Cow and Rabbit in particular. Please try to review some samples in 2025 and let us know what you think
Ooh! I have Nightingale and one other I think. I know the discovery set is £175 😂 which is a bit steep but if I can find more affordable samples, I will! Thanks for watching 🥰
Fils de Joie is amazing. I scored a second hand bottle for an excellent price last year. If you love a good punchy Jasmine, try Lust from Lush (if you haven’t already). They are not the same but they have a similar feel to me.
Ooh yes! I've tried Lust, also Savage Jasmine from Sana Jardin. I've been looking out for a bottle secondhand of Fils de Joie as I was giving up on the opportunity to sample it, but I've not seen one. Now Em has said she has a sample, so I will try it in the new year hopefully 🥰
I had a sample of Datura Noir, loved it, then thought it had been discontinued. However, another reviewer, Cherie from The Top Note here in Australia, said it was only available in their store in Paris. Might have to make a trip over😬 That might be the case for the other SL you were looking for. 😃🇦🇺
Serge Lutens I feel these could be tricky 🪄🔮 and not a safe blind buy when choosing one of these fragrances. But I watch a couple of RUclipsrs’ Livestream shows on fragrances and this brand/house seems to come up a lot as a favorite.😍
Oh really?! I thought it had just changed bottles but I did wonder cos I was looking for it on the website and it wasn't listed so I didn't know what was going on! That makes a lot of sense! 🥰
Yes! I think the ones I've tried have been quite unusual. I've liked all of them, but none have made me want to buy one. I can see how they might be a dislike for sure though. 🥰
I think it was the UK Fragrance Foundation that pronounced it as a French K sound rather than an English one, since it's a French brand, I assume that is the intention, but I would think the brand don't especially care 😂 as long as people are talking about their fragrances! Ormonde Jayne and Lush have some good ones I think 😊 they are worth trying. Have a lovely week! 🥰
Halfeti is potent isnt it? I got a 1ml sample recently and I think it'll last me quite a while 😂 Half a spray is enough. Thank you for the Christmas card you enclosed with the samples. Very thoughtful of you 🥰
Yes it is! If you want to be smelt 10m away, it's a good choice 😂 No worries! Thanks for the samples! I tried Rêve yesterday 😊 I will probably talk about it in a video. 🥰
Claire, you must hunt down a bottle of Fils de Joie. The most gorgeous honeyed jasmine! Kudos to Ormonde Jayne...that is the way to do public relations. Cleaning products at a crematorium? Only our Jon would come up with that. 🤣 Brands I'd like to try this year include L'Orchestre Parfums and Ella K, as well. Loved the video and look forward to your reviews on some of these.
Gosh another person saying how amazing Fils de Joie is! 😂 I need to find it! Ormonde Jayne were amazing! I was truly mortified 😂 because I can smell under the ambrox, Levant is nice, it's just buried. Understanding that Geza Schoen is the perfumer makes a lot of sense to me and my feelings on it. Anyway, I'm working my way through the second sample set so hopefully there's another hit lurking there! I think Jon says it makes him think of when his mum was a nurse and morgues. I totally get the death association. It just makes me think of the smell of a crematorium, I can't unthink it. GGA pour Homme is a classic and a well regarded fragrance and I can see it's inventive but it just makes me shudder 🤣 I wonder how many other people feel that? Clearly not many given its success! L'orchestre Parfums I'm really sorry looking forward to trying! I will definitely make a video! And I will try to get to Ella K because they seem loved! Have a lovely week! 🥰
Karma was my first Lush perfume. I had a partial but I sold it right when I started to get more into perfume. I don't know why I didn't keep it! 🙈Lush need to sort out their lids though. The bottles and the sprayers are good, but those thin metal lids that get quickly misshapen need to go.
Yes! I completely agree, they bend out of shape so easily and then you have to reshape them. I don't know what is the best option environmentally but those lids aren't functional.
I don't think I've tried many of these houses at all. I tend to gravitate to fragrances I don't have to seek out. I did get my first Lush perfume recently (because it was a travel size in a set), but the only one I have any full size fragrances from is Penhaligon's.
P2 So yes it's true I'd not heard much at all about Jo Loves. Mango Thai Lime did sound nice. Yes Samples can be absolutely insanely priced can't they. Electimuss does have some really nice ones, I have a handful of loves. Yes saffron is certainly a theme. I'll have to send u the other half of them. Penhaligons, the old ones were rather good. The more modern ones are just absolutely not for me. The brand has lost its essence and style to me. Halfeti is lovely but it wore so flat on me sadly. I love my Luna. I can imagine when you see them in a shop and someone pulls u away from them it's frustrating 😉. Sana Jardin the ones I tried, they weren't too bad. It's been a while though. Ah yes Ella K. I don't think I've ever sniffed anything from them. But yes they do get quite high praise. Mizensir have been a struggle for me too. GGA yes it has a very similar feel too Golden Oud and I struggled alot with. I've had a a few lines that nothing interests me about 🤣. Ah these Carine ones. Forgive Me was nice but the more molecular side of it really grated on me but it was a nice fragrance. I don't trust brands that don't let u sample, why not? What are they hiding. If it's indie fair enough cos of the cost. L'Orchestre do have some rather lovely ones. I'm a huge fan of Bouquet Encore. FDB are a good brand to try. I've not tried CB. Petales de Cashmere is gorgeous 😍. The Serene is lovely. I adore some of their older ones. The prices tho 😱. Well Dr Smith, I'll be moving even more indie next year so probably some more videos there from me. But I'd love to see you cover some fab jndie brands. Great video as ever, I love it when one of you big guys cover some of the brands never spoken about
I don't think trying a sample set has ever disappointed me more than when I started with the Favourite and Empressa with the Penhaligon's fragrances. I remember that really was my first taste of disappointment with higher pricepoint perfumes. I'm sure they have some good perfumes, but in general they must be fragrances that I've not tried... Miszensir is just lacking any joy for me. I'm sure they are someone's bag, I'm just not sure who that someone is. I know you didn't like Forgive me. Hey if they priced their fragrances sensibly for different volumes, I might get 10ml but I'm not buying 90ml. It's ridiculous. I can't wait to test L'orchestre Parfums! I'm very excited for those! I've been enjoying Sirène, I'm happy they sent that one and not Canna*is blue 😂 Indeed! I would be happy to cover some indie in 2025. Thanks Jon 🥰
@dr.claire.perfume yes it's weird the FDB blue I heard someone rave about that one then they sold it 🤣. Yea sometimes the hype makes no sense on the surface for things does it
Jo Malone I don’t have much interest in this brand… I think it’s the bottles….Lol….they’re very plain and I’m visually drawn to fragrances through the attractiveness of the bottle. 😜 Not always the best way to get the best smelling fragrance. Marketers really got me wrapped around their finger. 😅
I went to try Hinoki and Cedarwood the other day from Jo Malone and I liked it but didn't feel excited by it. I only have one from them, it's Pomegranate Noir and my scent of the day. It's something I would never have chosen a few years back but I really love it now. It's a dry, fruity, woody, slightly spiced fragrance with a slight hint of smoke. It's very Christmassy! Jo loves I don't own any from though. 🥰
I have stopped buying perfumes.... firstly, because I have accumulated too many already, secondly, because the pricing is prohibitive and forcing people to buy full bottles instead of smaller versions also prohibitively expensive.... it's no fun anymore!!
Yes, it does feel very expensive right now. I've even noticed the price increases with secondhand. I guess this is the beauty of sampling, there's the hit of something new without too much expenditure. Thanks for watching 🥰
@@c16621 I don't think it's responsible to put out a general statement like that without further information, which specific ingredients are you referring to?
So you might be interested to know that Diary of a CEO has recently been investigated by the BBC for spreading false health information. I'll leave the link here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gpz163vg2o I'm a scientist so I was just interested to know which chemicals you were referring to. I think dose and exposure levels and also how people are exposed makes a huge difference to whether something can be harmful or not, but I can't investigate without specifics. I'm sorry you are so offended by me asking you questions. I don't doubt that there are environmental endocrine disruptors but the exposure paths and amounts are likely to be far more significant for other sources, for example foods, plastics, cleaning products. Also I am British. Thanks for watching 🥰
@@c16621 I don't think I understand what you mean, I don't deny the existence of vaccines, they most definitely exist, I'm vaccinated as I would expect are the majority of the population of the world for at least one disease. TSS also exists, I don't doubt that. I don't doubt that environmental endocrine disruptors exist either, nor that they are a significant concern, but I do think you need to find better information sources for health information than RUclips. Pubmed is a great resource for example. It's free to use too. I am afraid I can't investigate your statement because I don't know which specific chemicals you are referring to, as I have already said. Personal attacks and assumptions about political allegiances specific to a country that a person isn't even living in, are not something scientists tend to do when discussing topics so I can't comment on those.
Hi Claire! I think my initial experience with Serge Lutens Fleur D’Oranger absolutely ruined my desire to try anything else.. cumin overload 💀!! Lush has piqued my interest, seeing some good reviews. I’m just not a super gourmand girlie so I’m a little hesitant. So GLAD you mentioned the saffron in Electimus, that’s a huge no for my taste. I would like to try Damask and Sakura from Ormonde Jayne. Haven’t had a chance to sample anything from them yet. I’ve only sampled Changing Constance from Penhaligon; while it’s really lovely it’s an extremely expensive skin scent. On a side note, I love your jumpers.. always look so incredibly cozy! Love today’s video ❤
Oh!!! Yes cumin can be a bit sweaty can't it? I haven't tried that one. Lush definitely have some florals (dirty and clean) and spicy led ones. They are worth trying. Electimuss even have a specific saffron lovers discovery set so I assume it's been a conscious choice. It's strange to me, but ok 😂 I think maybe it's something to be aware of if you do decide to sample any anyway. You can prescreen 😂 I've tried the Ambre and spicy discovery set so far from OJ and now I'm moving onto the floral one so I will see what I think. Changing Constance is one that gets talked about a lot isn't it or it did, I wondered whether to make a video of the portraits collection but I figured there were so many reviews out there that it might not add much. I am a bit interested to see what they are like though. Haha! Thanks! I have my ancient collection of winter jumpers from many years passed that come out every winter. I love them. I love retro and vintage so they are perfect for me. 🥰
@ I just wanted to say Thank You..I don’t think I’ve ever left a comment you haven’t replied to and you’re kind to do so! Especially given how much your channel has grown, I know it must be time consuming. You gave me valuable insight and I always appreciate your feedback! Hope you have a lovely Christmas, Claire. @@dr.claire.perfume That's totally understandable! 😊 I'm glad to hear you're doing this for the love of it. If you ever change your mind or need any help in the future, feel free to reach out. Wishing you all the best with your fun projects! 🌟
🤣 haha, you are funny! But thank you! 🥰
I’m so impressed by ORMONDE JAYNE ,reaching out and sending you more fragrances and not getting offended ! That gets a big 👍 from me
Yes! I was astounded by that and thought how amazing really, because they've totally turned that situation around. Of course they aren't all for me, but I know there's at least one that is now! 🥰
Ormande Jayne
I almost purchased one of these, but it would’ve been a blind by so I chickened out 🐔😳
They are very pricey to blind buy, I'd recommend sampling if you can.
Thanks Liz! 🥰
Carine Roitfeld is definitely a brand I would like to try. If her fragrances are anything like her sartorial style, then count me in!
Forgive me is incredibly sassy in feel. I love it, it's very confident.
Hey Claire! You are so right about the Lush Store. It can be so overwhelming in terms of smell and sales associates
It's a crazy experience. I usually walk out after spraying a few fragrances, I find that works best for me. If I love something, I go back later on 🤣
you have such great insight! i didnt realize that lush made fragrances these days. I have heard great things about Jo Loves though!
I love Serge Lutens. I have 4 by now. Chergui and Ecrin de fume are my current favourites!
Thanks for the tips! 🥰
Lovely rundown of 15 houses! Serge Lutens STILL has offerings I’d like to try-and I own 7. 🙈 Like another commenter said, Fils de Joie is worth finding a second hand bottle of. 😊
I’d love a discovery set from Ormonde Jayne, and Lush too.
Thank you ❤️ Fragonard have some real stunners! I totally agree! I love the Belle /Beau range and I've tried the Jasmine Pearl Tea. Have a fab week! 🥰
Looking forward to this one 😊
Yes Lush is a very full on shop isn't it 🤣.
Yes the SL is a lovely one.
Afternoon coffee time. . Perfect timing 👌 👀 looking forward to seeing which brands are getting a roast or a rave 😅
Definitely some roasting here, but hopefully only fairly. 🥰
She is the smartest of them all!
Haha Tammy that's what I should have been doing... I spent the afternoon wrapping gifts. I'm still not done 🤦♀️ but my house is a tip!
I would love to do a podcast but I literally have no time as it is with one video a week on YT. When I retire 😂
Haha I'll take that and run 🤣
Ella K. and Orchestre parfum are two brands that I want to explore!
Ooh let me know if you try any of their fragrances and what you think! 🥰
Hi Claire! Tuned in to see what you're interested in💜
Hi Kia! 👋 Hope you are well 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfumei am💜.
Thank you! Ooh yes! The Atelier des Ors bottles are very pretty and make me curious to try their fragrances! 🥰
I am looking forward to your upcoming reviews . I hope you get an opportunity to sample more of Serge Lutens.
Me too! I'm so interested in sampling some more Serge Lutens 🥰
I will move onto the florals from Ormonde Jayne over Christmas and will look out for Damask, it seems to be a favourite for a lot of people and I'm curious 🧐
😂 Gosh! Who knows how Santal Complet will be on me 😂
I've not tried Une Nuit Nomade but they are on my to sample list for sure.
Very interesting about Ormonde Jayne! Thanks for sharing that story. I have kind of similar thoughts on the brand 🤔
Yes, I think the style only makes sense when you notice who the perfumer is for a lot of the fragrances: Geza Schoen.
Omg, i totally forgot about that L' Orchestra sample set. . Will you be doing a video on your thoughts?
Yes for sure! I can't wait to try them and review them. Thanks for sending them!
Welton and house of Bo and both on my lists for next year, they are very long 😂
Yes Guerlain is a brand that I consistently seem to appreciate.
Also I feel like Charlotte Tilbury is overated by default, but doing perfumes just for the sake of getting into another market is just meh...Great video, Claire! x
Lush are worth trying, they have some interesting fragrances. Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi dr.Claire, another bang video, thanks 🎉
I just had the opportunity to try Charlotte's discovery set, and I have to say I understand and agree with you they different than what the market is offering...it's was a refreshing experience.
Juniper sling is the love of my life, but doesn't last 30min on my skin...so sad💔
Great video🎉
Ormande Woman is one of my favourite fragrances of all time, and my husband wears Ormande Man and it smells amazing on him.
Ormonde Woman is lovely, I really love the opening! 🥰
If I get a whiff of OUD I run a mile now LOL
This was such an interesting review Claire
Thanks for sharing ❤
😂 yes, I totally understand that reaction from some of the bad ones I've smelt. Oud can be lovely to me too though. I wish I knew what makes me sometimes absolutely hate it and sometimes love it. 🥰
OUD is tricky for me too!
I purchased an oud oil, it only has Arabic writing on it so I don’t know what it’s called but it smells like the church pews when I was a kid and we used to clean the church as a family… Lol
Interesting! I wonder what it says! I had the same scent memory with SJP Covet, the lavender and lemon there made me think of furniture polish. 🤷♀️
@@dr.claire.perfume I remember your video when you said that 😆😂
1:41 agree so hard in lush to test 😅
It's a challenge in there 🤣
I've been thinking about which of these brands I'd be the most interested in exploring more, and I think maybe it would be Ella K..
Penhaligon’s
Is one where I do find the bottle attractive🤩… I think of the fragrances as all florals that might’ve been my ‘jam’ in my 20s.
@ thank you 😊
Thanks,Claire!
@@dr.claire.perfumeyes love the Edwardian bottles. I picked up LOTV on eBay and it’s beautifully photorealistic. Have a great week too 👍
@@rebeccadippyegg thank you! Ooh that's cool, I hope it was a bargain! I love eBay! 🙂
@@dr.claire.perfumeyes, me too. I always go there first and have found some treasures.
I am intrigued to try more from them. I do think they were bigger than they are now actually. Did you have any favourites? 🥰
If you ever come across a reasonable priced Vivienne Westwood L’Ibertine, I’d love to get another bottle but it’s discontinued
I have one of the Amouage Opus line (III) so far but I want more Amouage in my life
Thanks for watching 🥰
Levant is essentially an inspiration of fleur narcotique by ex nihilo and there are already many on the market that came out earlier. It’s beautiful but redundant
I've not tried Fleur Narcotique, but I've seen Levant compared with it. It's very long lasting at least. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.
@@breannacarels6479 👍 ok! 🥰
Hey Claire! Just started watching. Noticed a couple of interesting brands that I want to hear your thoughts about 🍿🥤
Hi Kate! Hope you are cosy. 🥰
I don’t own any lush and I have one surge LUTENS datura noir
That's been rebottled I think 🤔 I was trying to find a discovery set with it in and failing. 🥰
I had a sample of Datura Noir, loved it, then thought it had been discontinued. However, another reviewer, Cherie from The Top Note here in Australia, said it was only available in their store in Paris. Might have to make a trip over😬 That might be the case for the other SL you were looking for. 😃🇦🇺
Serge Lutens
I feel these could be tricky 🪄🔮 and not a safe blind buy when choosing one of these fragrances.
I have always heard it pronounced Ella K by all that review them, I am a fan of Ormonde Jayne and would like to try more from Lush.
Very thoughtful of you 🥰
Yes it is! If you want to be smelt 10m away, it's a good choice 😂
No worries! Thanks for the samples! I tried Rêve yesterday 😊 I will probably talk about it in a video. 🥰
I used to find Carine Roitfeld cheap on Net a Porter. Maybe it's gone now but watch out for their sales.
Good tip! Thank you! Cos the main website is crazily priced. 🥰
Good morning darling ☕️🥰
Hey Frances 🥰
Ooh, I'm happy OJ sent you ths sample sets
Santal Complet is like Jazz Club and Gris Charnel had a baby
Yes! I completely agree, they bend out of shape so easily and then you have to reshape them. I don't know what is the best option environmentally but those lids aren't functional.
Yes! I am enjoying working my way through them and I was shocked to get so many. It was nice of them. 🥰
Ok! I will go sniff Santal complet if they have it in Harvey Nichols, I noticed Tryst and Cavort last time I was in. 🥰
In Soho in London there is a perfume only Lush boutique. No bath bombs. Pleasure to shop. It's near Liberty, Carnaby Street.
Gosh! Yes please! 😂 I don't think I've been to London except for work since 2011 though 😂
I'm hoping for Chelse Morning for Xmas. Now, to watch the rest of the video...
Aah I hope you enjoy it 🥰
I don't think I've tried many of these houses at all. I tend to gravitate to fragrances I don't have to seek out. I did get my first Lush perfume recently (because it was a travel size in a set), but the only one I have any full size fragrances from is Penhaligon's.
I wana try charlotte tilbury
I hope you find a love! If you like sunny happy florals then Joyphoria is worth a sniff. 🥰

So yes it's true I'd not heard much at all about Jo Loves.
I've been enjoying Sirène, I'm happy they sent that one and not Canna*is blue 😂
Indeed! I would be happy to cover some indie in 2025. Thanks Jon 🥰
@dr.claire.perfume yes it's weird the FDB blue I heard someone rave about that one then they sold it 🤣.
Yea sometimes the hype makes no sense on the surface for things does it
Jo Malone
I don’t have much interest in this brand… I think it’s the bottles….Lol….they’re very plain and I’m visually drawn to fragrances through the attractiveness of the bottle.
I'll leave the link here: www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gpz163vg2o
I'm a scientist so I was just interested to know which chemicals you were referring to.

You can prescreen 😂
I've tried the Ambre and spicy discovery set so far from OJ and now I'm moving onto the floral one so I will see what I think.
