This is what my instructor teach me... sometime i mix up V & P parking pattern...... remember to lower down the mirror to the lowest
This tricks are what we learnt to pass the driving test but in real life you don’t have such lines. So this trick doesn’t work in real life
When moving out can move forward first then full left reverse then move out? That's what I was taught but it takes a bit longer than your method.
It is risky if you move forward and hit the kerb as you may get points and fail.
So do be safe.

Hello, when you mention the front door handle is in line with the kerb, is it the end part of the handle (pointing towards the back door) or the front part of the handle (pointing towards the front of the car direction) or halfway point of the handle? I'm assuming it is the end part of the handle?

Maybe you can try this. When you feel like you need to adjust your mirrors, try saying this.
You: Sir may I adjust my mirrors.
Tester: Yes
You : Thank you sir.
Once you are done and leaving, you should say:
You : Sir may I adjust my mirrors before exiting.
Tester: Yes.
