The host is right because in this informal area everyone can state what they think is true. You could even say "Levan beat Devon and is the belt holder, but I just think he isnt #1 because xyz". Formally he is #1 with the belt. Informally ("expert rankings", public opinion") you can assert whatever you want. So for the host "Alex is #2". For you "Devon is #2".
