Jimmy page seems to be one of those guitar players that doesnt follow any set of rules when it comes to scales and he seems to play the song differt everytime he goes live. I get very frustrated with his technique not saying he wasnt my hero when I was a kid because for some reason if I didnt listen to Zeppelin in the morning my day went to hell.

Often times the video will automatically get taken down if the "music" is too close to the original. RUclips has an app that scans videos for audio and takes them down and can block the users account. This is often the reason for a quick chat before the music starts and small bits of the song are played.

The whole part of it is that when he is doing the rhythm during the solo he does A G F. So that note always lands on the F coming up the A pentatonic scale that's the brilliance of it all. Pretty awesome though.

I can hop right back on to my guitar and play it no issues lol..... I just started playing again for the last 2 days for the first time in almost a year, 11 months I believe to be exact, and now I’m shredding so hard, the tips of my fingers hurt, I mean they hurt so bad that doing a bend is agony 😂 I can stick to bar chords but where’s the fun in that hahaha

In that 3rd pentatonic run down from 1st string 5th fret (A), it is a whole lot easier to go back 1 step to the F on the 4th string 3rd fret instead of your pinky on the same F on the 5th string 8th fret. This way you are already in position to do the slide from 5th to 7th fret on the 4th(D) string. At 5:41 in the video.

I am really new to guitar and then making the classic move to learn the stairway to heaven solo as some thing fun other than learning chords and doing spider exercises etc. etc. so I’m just confused because when I watch covers of people playing this everyone plays it somewhat differently. Some of them sound more accurate to my ear, but then I see comments here saying that this is a really accurate version of how to play it. Does anyone know what this is about? Is it common to have multiple ways to play songs?

He does tend to simplify things a bit which if your advanced is annoying but if your a noob it's great. I’ve seen multiple tutorials and I still can’t find why my guitar sounds so weird when I play it. So my question is, is this solo in standard tuning? If yes, any tip of how to make it sound better?

Without a doubt Carl you have helped me to realize a dream. This is the most amazing lesson on You tube. I want to be a Patreon. Do you have Pay pal? I hope so and if not I will send you a lump sum US funds cheque. I owe you so much. I can't thank you enough except for by way of donation. I have seriously thought about this for a couple of months. I need to donate or be a Patreon of your site. Your lessons make me seriously happy. This song is seriously the best Christmas present to myself. Without you this wouldn't be possible.

And Marty takes forever with his videos, I recommend Marty to beginners but not people with more experience because they will get bored with his lessons. I agree with you on your statement

i agree, but lets be honest its just so fun to listen to marty lol. puts more personality in his videos, (something a beginner needs)

I've found that most of the Marty Music videos are "wrong". The end result may work with a backing track but they are more like the easy version.

Tristan sanvictores Marty’s not the bad but one thing that annoys me is when he’s giving a tutorial and he puts his own thing in the tutorial and doesn’t even show us how to do it.

If you wanted to teach the vocal harmony, that would be half step bend on the 14th fret of the B string, and then pick the 12th fret.

Jimmy and the others from that era were true architects of real rock music they had nothing to go on nothing to copy. No one to show them. Found distortion by accidentally leaving an amp out in the rain or someone got drunk and beat the hell out of an amp next day plugged it in and wow. Next thing you know there is Zak Wilde absolutely the best.

great video, clear and precice. just the kind of help which i needed. i have been practicing the 5 minute 20 second first section for years now, not fully got it but very close. i have struggled with the solo each time i tried it but never tried it much and always gave up (mental block) :) way too early this video of which i have downloaded via 4k video downloader will no doubt come in very handy indeed. thanks bro, rock on.

Thanks for the lesson. You're moving a bit fast for me though cause I'm new to solo playing. My fingers are short and fat compared to yours and not so easy to get them to hit the strings right. Oh well, just more practice, right?

I don’t know why but the solo was genuinely easier for me to learn & get right than the main riff, which took me a year on & off to learn & play while the solo took a few days or so

None. A small over driven valve amp, or get a distortion pedal such as a tube screamer.
