That's funny honestly this song was stuck in my head for two days I talked to my ex gf a few days ago and I was walking around the house singing the chorus maybe we can start again so I punched in start again on RUclips and here I am..
I hate to be the Stan but the greatest is Eminem. Some of Kanyes work has been brilliant but Eminem has far more consistency. He has far more technical ability and manages to create relatively simple emotive songs. Halies Song, Beautiful and When I'm gone for example.
There is a thin line between genius and insanity, very creative people will often seem irrational at times, Kanye has made some of the best music of our generation. College dropout is still my top 3 all time albums.
I danced with a girl from Whales to this song at a friends house. Just me and her in a room. We were both from out of town. She said nothing was going to happen, I said "I know." It was perfect.
You are not alone, some people can not split the persona from his music, for me he is a true Genius Álbum after album, the Best music i have heard on a long time
Joao Vitor Costa oh yeah dude, totally. Being born in a place where there are constant shootings and lots of gang violence along with extreme poverty is not bad at all
Sometimes I randomly have a Kanye verse pop into my head and have to refind a song and put it on my playlist and I’m like holy shit this is incredible how did I forget about this and that just reminds me that even Kanyes B or C tier songs are amazing and he is genuinely one of the greatest musicians of all time
Best Kanye song ever. Beat, flow, rhymes are all impeccable and Chris martins vocals add so much to the song. What makes this song so great is the wordplay and metaphor he uses of comparing a girl, Wendy, to Chicago, Windy City. The first time I understood that he was really talking about Chicago rather than a girl I came to appreciate the song so much more.
Hey Maruffi The metaphor is an homage to I Used to Love H.E.R by Common. Common was taking about the state of hip hop as a her, so Kanye flipped it to talk about Chicago. Two dope Chicago artists 💯
Opinions are like taste buds, they differ between people. Pablo is trash and this song is on many Top 10 kanye lists (I've seen it on at least 3). Homecoming is the best Kanye song ever made, and considering his last two albums, it always will be.
+Weaksauceization Aren't you contradicting yourself by saying opinions differ between people to go on and say Homecoming is the best Ye song ever made?
Weaksauceization It's not even top 10 if you're an avid Kanye listener who has listened to every album he has made. I can name 10 Kanye songs way better than this song off the top of my head. Graduation is not even Kanye's best album, it's actually his most commercial. Heard Em' Say, Late, Devil In A New Dress, Runaway, Lost In The World, Through The Wire, Gorgeous, Gone, Welcome To Heartbreak, We Major. Are all better than Homecoming lmfao. This is not a top 10 but all these songs are better than Homecoming.
I'm coming home again. Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Cause I'm coming home again I'm in home again. [Verse 1 - Kanye West] I met this girl when I was three years old And what I loved most she had so much soul She said, excuse me little homie, I know you don't know me- but, My name is Windy and, I like to blow trees and, From that point I never blow her off, They can come from outta town I like to show her off, They like to act tough, she like to tow em off, And make em straighten up their act, cause she know they soft And when I grew up she showed me how to go downtown And at nighttime my face lit up so astounding And I told her in my heart is where she always be She never mess with entertainers cause they always leave She said it felt like they walked and drove on me Knew I was gang affiliated got on TV and told on me I guess it's why last winter she got so cold on me She said, Ye keep making that, keep making that platinum and gold for me [Chorus - Chris Martin] Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Cause I'm coming home again I'm in home again Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Oh, now I'm coming home again Maybe we can start again [Verse 2 - Kanye West] But if you really care for her, then you would n-never hit the airport, To follow your dream, sometimes I still talk to her, but when I talk to her It always seems like she talking about me, She said you left your kids and they just like you They wanna rap and make show beats just like you, But they just not you and I just got through Talking bout what she can try to do just not new Now everybody got the game figured out all wrong I guess you never know what you got till its gone I guess this is why I'm here and I cant come back home And guess when I heard that when I was back home Every interview I'm representing you making you proud Reach for the stars so if you fall you land on a cloud Jump in the crowd, spark you lighters, wave em around, And if you don't know by now, I'm talking about Chi Town, [Chorus - Chris Martin] Do you think about me now and then? Do you think about me now and then? Cause I'm coming home again Maybe, do you remember when fireworks at lake Michigan Oh, now I'm coming home again I'm in home again Maybe, do you remember when fireworks at lake Michigan Oh, now I'm coming home again Maybe we can start again Loyee oyeee oh, loyee oyeee oh Coming home again Loyee oyeee oh, loyee oyeee oh Coming home again Maybe we can start again
I’m twenty now and man, Kanye has done so much for my life. Being young and hearing a rapper not afraid to be himself by talking/expressing their emotions as well as dressing however they wanted. I wish people gave Ye more credit. I know people usually talk about how Wayne raised a generation, but they forget Ye did as well.
Man this song really means a lot to me. When I was in drug rehab, my therapist and I would jam out to Kanye with her. Got outta treatment in January 2022. This is the song I blasted on my way home from rehab. Fucking brought me to tears. I used to listen to this song fucked up on fentnyal and xans, and now I’m about to hit a year clean on July 20th. Music really touches the soul, and helps me so much in my recovery. Truly blessed to be in recovery, and grateful that Kanye exists to help me through tough times
Kanye caught a lot of flak for bringing Chris Martin (British dude) on a song about Chicago, but I always thought it was a valid, deliberate stylistic choice. This song isn't just a love letter to Chicago--it's a song about Kanye's changing relationship to Chicago after he's become a famous, world-touring artist. If you've ever returned to your hometown after a long absence and a bunch of new life experiences, you do end up feeling like a foreigner in some ways. That outsider feeling is what Ye is trying to convey by having his inner voice of yearning for home be performed by a guy with a British accent. "Homecoming" is actually a pretty bittersweet song in that regard, because it acknowledges that while Chi is Ye's home, it will never fully be his home again. There will always be a part of him that feels foreign to it.
Going to Chicago for the first time ever tomorrow as a California native. Been a Chicago Bears fans since I was 14 I’m 32 now. Anytime I think of the City of Chicago this song starts playing in my head. Life long dream finally coming true tomorrow 🙏🏾💯🙌🏾🐻⬇️

I don't like the meme, but I hope many younger people find this song because of the meme. I saw a meme a while back, which led me down a rabbit hole and now I'm getting into shoegaze because of it.

That's a good thing; some of the best things in life are those that grow on you, nostalgia inducing - they get better with time like fine wine.

Kanye has a very wide variety of songs. None of them are alike
I hate to be the Stan but the greatest is Eminem. Some of Kanyes work has been brilliant but Eminem has far more consistency. He has far more technical ability and manages to create relatively simple emotive songs. Halies Song, Beautiful and When I'm gone for example.

Weaksauceization It's not even top 10 if you're an avid Kanye listener who has listened to every album he has made. I can name 10 Kanye songs way better than this song off the top of my head. Graduation is not even Kanye's best album, it's actually his most commercial.

Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
Cause I'm coming home again
I'm in home again.
[Verse 1 - Kanye West]
I met this girl when I was three years old
And what I loved most she had so much soul
She said, excuse me little homie, I know you don't know me- but,
My name is Windy and, I like to blow trees and,
From that point I never blow her off,
They can come from outta town I like to show her off,
They like to act tough, she like to tow em off,
And make em straighten up their act, cause she know they soft
And when I grew up she showed me how to go downtown
And at nighttime my face lit up so astounding
And I told her in my heart is where she always be
She never mess with entertainers cause they always leave
She said it felt like they walked and drove on me
Knew I was gang affiliated got on TV and told on me
I guess it's why last winter she got so cold on me
She said, Ye keep making that, keep making that platinum and gold for me
[Chorus - Chris Martin]
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
Cause I'm coming home again
I'm in home again
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
Oh, now I'm coming home again
Maybe we can start again
[Verse 2 - Kanye West]
But if you really care for her, then you would n-never hit the airport,
To follow your dream, sometimes I still talk to her, but when I talk to her
It always seems like she talking about me,
She said you left your kids and they just like you
They wanna rap and make show beats just like you,
But they just not you and I just got through
Talking bout what she can try to do just not new
Now everybody got the game figured out all wrong
I guess you never know what you got till its gone
I guess this is why I'm here and I cant come back home
And guess when I heard that when I was back home
Every interview I'm representing you making you proud
Reach for the stars so if you fall you land on a cloud
Jump in the crowd, spark you lighters, wave em around,
And if you don't know by now, I'm talking about Chi Town,
[Chorus - Chris Martin]
Do you think about me now and then?
Do you think about me now and then?
Cause I'm coming home again

Abdul Rahman trying hard much? They're equally talented and equally the reason why this song is so good
Kanye caught a lot of flak for bringing Chris Martin (British dude) on a song about Chicago, but I always thought it was a valid, deliberate stylistic choice.
Well said! Wonderful comment!
