I was born in Sweden in the 1980s and i used to watch the Popeye cartoons (you know, the ones from 1933 to 1952) when i was young.

Now all of these look even more beautiful with the stereoptical backgrounds.
All the ones that are being restored in HD or 4K will make you aw.

Thank you. For the record, I made documentaries in the Navy during the 1980s, and have worked in film and animation for many years.

@@RayPointerChannel Yes. I noted your expertise in this field years ago from your corrective comments on my Betty Boop channel. I was very pleased that you started your own channel and have been a subscriber since first noticing it. You deserve a lot more attention from the animation fan community on RUclips.

@@hulakan Thank you for recognizing my value. I do not hear that expressed very often, and it needs to be stated. One does not become an "animation expert" by sitting on the couch and "watching cartoons." One becomes an expert by being involved with the medium, as I have been for many years. THAT is how I have been one of the few knows what he is looking at and who can explain how the cartoons were made since I have done a lot more than give lip service to the subject. Mark Kausler is another, perhaps more qualified in other areas than me, but certainly most credible in this. Please spread the word.

Incredible rare stereoptical film footage you compiled, and how many ways it was used, thanks for sharing as I teach History of Animation and love to show this to my students! I was hoping for some film footage showing them operate the 3D background and process, but I guess they never made a behind the scenes film only just publicity stills. Thanks for sharing this wonderful documentary topic.

Popular Science did a segment in 1939 touring the Fleischer Miami Studio, a year after their move. There is a clip showing Charlie Schettler in a staged scene operating the Setback Camera. There was no such scene ever used in a cartoon, and the cels of the vulture appear to be left over from THE LITTLE STRANGER (1936). I also have been teaching Animation History for several years, and am the Author of THE ART AND INVENTIONS OF MAX FLEISCHER: AMERICAN ANIMATION PIONEER. You can see the promo video on RUclips. I have been making several promotional appearances, and am available for speaking engagements as I have done for various film festivals and schools.
