الاسم العلميّ : Althaea Officinalis
نبتةٌ عُشبيّةٌ طبيّة مُعمّرة تنتمي إلى الفصيلة الخبازية ، موطنها الاصليّ إقليم حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط و هي معروفة في معظم أرجاء العالم و تحظى باهتمام بالغ في الصين ، كما تستخدم في بلاد الشام على نطاق واسع ضمن ما يسمى بشاي الزهورات الشهير .
نبتةُ الخطميّة ذات ساقٍ منتصبةٍ ترتفع نحو متر ونصف يغطيها زغبٌ خشن الملمس ، و أوراق قلبيّة التشكيل كبيرة الحجم حوافّها مسننة ، اما أزهارها متعددة الألوان بين الأحمر و الأبيض و البنفسجيّ و القرمزيّ و الأصفر فهي بوقيّة الشكل كبيرة الحجم تبدأ بالظهور مع إطلالة الربيع و تستمر إلى أواخر فصل الصيف ، بذورها تشبه شكل الكِلية .
تتميز الختمية بصلاحية كامل أجزاء النبتة - باستثناء الساق - للاستخدام سواء الغذائي أو الطبيّ من جهة وكونها قابلة للتجفيف دون أن تفقد خواصها من جهة أخرى ، إضافة إلى أنها من النباتات الطبيّة مأمونة الاستخدام إلى حد كبير حيث لم يعرف عن أي من أجزاءها المستخدمة أية آثار جانبية ، كما تعتبر نبتة الخطميّة إحدى نباتات الزينة المنزلية ذات المظهر الجميل و التي تتميز بموسم تزهير طويل .
زراعة الخطمية :
تتكاثر الخطمية بالبذور بحيث تُزرع بذورها خلال فصل الشتاء و هي من النباتات التي تحب الرطوبة و الأجواء المشمسة في آن معاً .
للختمية تسميات متعددة نذكر منها : شحم المروج ، الخبازي البرية ، ورد الزواني ، غسل ، الخطمي الوردي ، الخطمية ، العاسول ، ورد الجمال ، الخبيزة المخزنية .

Scientific name: Althaea Officinalis
A perennial herbaceous medicinal plant belonging to the marshmallow, whose native origin is the Mediterranean basin region and is known in most parts of the world and has great interest in China, as it is widely used in the Levant in what is called the famous flower tea.
The marshmallow plant has an erect stem with a height of about a meter and a half covered by coarse fluff, and large-sized cardiac leaves with edged edges. Late summer, its seeds look like a kidney.
Khatmiyya is characterized by the validity of the entire parts of the plant - with the exception of the stem - for use, whether food or medicinal on the one hand, and being able to dry without losing their properties on the other hand, in addition to being from medicinal plants that are largely safe to use, as none of its used parts are known to have any side effects Also, the marshmallow is considered one of the beautiful looking home ornamental plants, which has a long flowering season.
