- The new Volkswagen Polo Hatchback is a different animal to what buyers are used to. It’s now aggressively designed, sports the look of a hot hatch, and is finally fun to drive.
It’s like the Polo has taken a walk on the wild side and is even a bit sexy.
With that in mind, it’s still very much a Polo. This means lots of interior space, strong build quality and a good amount of standard kit. As far as supermini’s go, it should be a must on your shortlist more than ever.
OSV takes a closer look at what it’s all about with our 2018 Volkswagen Polo Hatchback review.

Hi Jurgens! Thank You for watching our Car review and for your great feedback 🙂
Are you a fan of the Volkswagen Polo?
Looks much more like a Golf than a Polo.
I have a October 2014 3dr Polo BlueGT 1.4TSI 150ps manual.....love to replace it one day with a R-LINE or SEL 1.5TSI "Evo" 150ps manual. Sorry to steal your thunder reviewer but according to my VW main dealer we are not going to get a 1.5TSI "Evo" 150ps in UK as they can't get the Polo (or any of the Seat Ibiza's or Skoda Fabia's) through the lastest European emmisions testing test with the 1.5TSI & will be a DSG only option if we did have it. VW losing big sales to other manufacturers who still offer such a configuration as my BlueGT (4-cylinder engine/manual) - number of doors not a big issue but like 3drs (but that's a industry dead model now)....so to get the configuration of a 1.5T near to Polo size with have to probably go to a non VAG product....shame. sadly my pockets aren't big enough for a GTI Polo just stupid 1.0TSI 115ps or 2.0TSI 200ps nothing in-between & seems not remotely any interest by VW UK to have a Polo with a engine size between the two.
i have this car, but strange question to be asking lol but the bit with the radio, where it says radio 1, 2 etc, mine are just black boxes how do i get the colourful logos to come up?
Are the 65bhp and 75bhp engines suffice; adequate enough for motorway speeds, overtaking, and pulling away quickly at junctions?
Hi Robert! Thank You for watching our VW Polo car review, we appreciate your feedback 🙂
I have put this to one of our vehicle specialists that owns the same car and he is more than happy with the power of it and feels that its down to the car being lighter than some other cars.
If you have any more questions, feel free to email me on: jenny.woollett@osv.ltd.uk and i will be more than happy to help
OSV,
Thanks for your prompt reply, and added info... Much appreciated!
Very eloquent review; keep up the great work you're doing.
Robert Bold 75 bhp isn’t all that powerful, unless it has lots of torque?
I own a 95 PS version. I’ve driven a non turbo version, and it is adequate for getting you from A to B, and you can overtake, and drive on motorways without problems. But it lacks the oomph, you’ll have to drop to third to overtake and plan ahead a few weeks. Basically I’d avoid the non turbo engines unless for a new young driver.
Mark Knopfler? is that you? Is that a wig?
CHEAT...!
3:51 - driver's seat is behind B-pillar
4:27 - driver's seat has now been MOVED FORWARD...!
Not impressed THUMBS DOWN!
