My ancestor Jacob De la Gardie captured Moscow and large areas in northwestern Russia in 1610 he was responsible for introducing advanced military methods into Sweden's army and served as one of the five regents jointly ruling Sweden during the minority of Queen Christina. His son and grandson did great things as well they owned 30 castles and were the richest people in Sweden, today we have a statue of Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie in the town square, a college named De la Gardie and a castle named Läcko Slott built by Jacob it's amazing that i as a decendent still live in Lidköping 500 years after my ancestor founded this city.
