- HAZOP is Hazard and Operability Study. This is systematic, qualitative Hazard Identification Technique that is widely used in industry. HAZOP can be done in the initial design phase or whenever any modification takes place. HAZOP also should be reviewed periodically so that no Hazards are kept unidentified.
HAZOP is normally performed as cross functional team. Steps of conducting HAZOP is as follows:
1. Define Scope.
2. Determine Nodes and Design Intent of the Nodes
3. Determine Deviation with the help of Guide Words.
4. Identify Consequences and Safeguards.
5. Formulate recommendation and document the result.
In this video practical example of a HP separator has been provided and each step of the HAZOP process have been gone through.
