I think it looked like she was uncomfortable and felt like a misfit in his world just like the mint was a misfit in what should have been strawberry ice cream but looked like chocolate. I could be wrong though but it seemed initially she didn't feel welcomed in his world/life.
Because she was from a small city. Never went to any fancy place before where they would serve ice cream with mint leaf.. that was a confusing thing for her
