Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge: Black Screen / Display Not Coming On / Black Display - Quick Fix

- If your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge (Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus) is experiencing a black screen and you know its on as you can see some lights ( LED notifications light, menu, and back button) light up or hear text messages or phone calls or feel it vibrating then try these easy 4 possible solutions. One of these 4 steps should get most of you up and running. I just had this issue when i tried to factory reset my S7 but have had these issues with all my previous Galaxy phones. If these steps don't work then there are other steps that may get it up and running but I only posted the easiest and fastest possible methods. Comment if it doesn't work for you and I will make another video with the other steps.
While the phone is on-
1- hold down volume down rocker and power button simultaneously for at least 20 seconds until your screen comes back on.
2- hold down volume UP rocker and power button simultaneously for at least 20 seconds until your screen comes back on.
3- hold down volume UP rocker, power button, & home button simultaneously for at least 20 seconds until your screen comes back on.
4- hold down volume Down rocker, power button, & home button simultaneously for at least 20 seconds until your screen comes back on.

These tips worked to an extent! A small portion of my left side of the screen flashed blue, and my phone turned on where I could hear notifications and whatnot, however it stayed showing nothing on the display screen.

My phone just started doing this in the past month. It is so SMART it only goes into this mode when I absolutely need to make call or need access to my Calendar. If it happens before you go into a meeting you can't silence your phone and it dings and rings during meetings and you have no control. However, the fundamental question is WHY does this happen in the first place? It seems to me a software glitch and why doesn't SAMSUNG address it? It almost like pushing out an upgrade that slows down your phone to force you to buy a new one... Oh, that was Apple. Is there any manufacturer that can maybe use spell check to look up the definition of customer service? I would but my screen is black.

Guys it’s a motherboard problem. The thing u have to do is replace the motherboard and it will work. I bought a motherboard from eBay for 35 bucks and replace it myself.

still not working, tried all combos, same time, 20 secs (sometimes longer) and still nothing. Should i let the battery go low? It is an unresponsive black screen with a blue light in the top left that just stays there.

My S7 Edge went crazy yesterday, I had purple line's down the right hand side of the edge, I've tried everything more than once of what you've mentioned in your video but nothing seems to work, I've got the led cover which show's all the notification's, shows the battery being full but the bloody phone just won't reboot.

@@izzafatima1069 i'm sorry to hear that.. in my case, the screen was blacked out but i'd still get notification rings and phone calls.. they're just not showing anything, so i couldn't answer since touching the screen randomly wasn't working too. Maybe it only works if that's what happening..?
@@izzafatima1069What happens if/when you were to plug it into a computer?? I'd be interested to see if the PC recognizes it & shows up under devices or if nothing happens at all because that would be a big game changer I'm also dealing with the same problem. 💯🤝🫡

just tried this and i guess it confirms it for me that i just need a new screen. And sadly I dont want to have to have my phone entirely factory reset because i dont have backups of everything
and most apps or fixes i find require some form of actual screen interaction which i cant get.

Mine is doing the same, didn't drop it or anything, I was using it one second, next second it refused to work at all.
Guess i'll have to take it back to the phone company to fix it.
Tried all suggested restarts...none worked. When I hold the power and down volume button, I can feel it vibrate every five or so seconds, but nothing comes on. Any other suggestions? The notification light and the two lights by the home button will both come on when I touch the power button for a second or so, and the notification light blinks every ten seconds or so.
It didn’t work also my phone powers on then it went black it had the green button for showing 100% all my hard gone :/ /(

***** Do you have a SD card in the phone? Try to remove it and see if you still have the problem. I had the same problem and i fixed mine because it was a bad sd card that triggerd the freeze/black screen and now that i bought a new samsung evo+ card i dont have this problem no more.
Yo, i did more research and think i have found the problem! the Problem is create by the App power saving mode which puts app to sleep when not used and some app cant handle it so it will freeze your screen.

hi there, could you help?! Basically my Samsung s7 edge screen keeps flickering on and off with a green line down the side? all the buttons light up but when i press the home button the same thing happens again. The phone was very hot but has cooled down a bit now but no luck so far.

the issue i have is that it only shows around 5% of my screen and the rest is either black or a really dark purple, dark enough where i cant see anything. its the top portion of my screen that i can see, no matter how i rotate it. was wondering how this could be fixed
