So.. I was at my daughters grad party yesterday & I was looking for my kids (they wandered off too lol) I came across the most adorable little baby raccoon, maybe 2 month size, at most? Definitely wobbly on walking still so couldn’t have been that old. He was crying & making lots of high pitched noise. I was looking around, thinking Mama couldn’t be too far but she didn’t show. So I followed from a distance & he went into the stream, got stuck. I hesitantly touched him, careful not to get bit but he allowed me to pick him up. I placed him down & he climbed up my shoe & wanted picked back up! 🥹 So I held him for a few minutes, then got yelled at by my husband to put it down (bc rabies - it was 6pm) We found a dead baby raccoon further up in the park.. I highly doubt that he was rabid, just maybe left alone way too long & got hungry? I was wondering if I should report this scenario, bc I’m fairly certain that the mother abandoned the babies, which would explain why they were out of the nest. I’m in Northeast Ohio
Honestly, I really wanted to keep him. He was so precious 💔 I read that it’s only legal to keep if you obtain a permit & buy from a reputable seller 🤷🏼♀️ Is it illegal to keep a baby raccoon captured in the wild? (I can’t take him in anyways bc my cats & dog wouldn’t stand for it lol, just wondering so I know 😂)
Hi! So, I stumbled upon this video because The past two nights I was driving over to my boyfriends late at night after he got home from work. both nights I have seen two baby raccoons in the middle of the road huddled together. Both times I have gotten out of my car to redirect them away from the road as much as I could, still being cautious in case mom is near. Everyone that I have talked to has scolded me for getting out of my car and getting close to them. I just don’t know how to help. I have a big heart, especially when it comes to animals and wildlife. Luckily the road he just moved to is not busy at all so likely no cars drive it at night. I’m still concerned for their safety and just want to help in any way I can!! Thankyou in advance, any help is appreciated greatly
They might be alone Mama might be gone. They're trying to stay warm the baby raccoons are always with their mom and love it very warm. The roadway is warm that's why they're huddled on it I would try to get them off of it as fast as I could call your local fire department or something else

we had a nest in a grain wagon that we discovered recently. we figured we would just wait for the mom to move them before we emptied the wagon, so i checked on them daily to see if they were still there. well, today i discovered only 2 in the nest, separated from each other and appeared to be dead. it was pretty cold the night before, so we thought they froze. they were cold and stiff and not visibly breathing. after taking them out from the wagon and on my way to toss them into the back field, one of the 2 babies took a breath...so now im debating on whether or not to attempt to put them back in the area (its still 30 degrees at night) and hope mom comes back for them or attempting to raise them on my own. the other issue is that the wagon was in a different barn and we believe she moved her other 2 kits into our livestock barn where there is straw and hay and significantly warmer. ugh.
We've had a male raccoon stealing babies and dropping off in a small space under our porch to die. Knowing I've been hearing babies there over the past 2 weeks but no mother made me look up if they eat them. Which is when I found out about predator males who steal the babies belonging to another male so the females will go back into heat - basically a breeding technique. But after finding quick a sizeable pile of bones and gook, I couldn't stop myself from finding a way to get the latest little live one left behind. Thanks much for the info. We do have a local wild life sanctuary which I will check with to see if they can take it or not.
I found a 10-12 week old raccoon (used to have one as a pet years ago) idk if some of his actions are from being away from his mom idk but he is eating and drinking water but I noticed some drooling I don’t want to think it’s rabies or distemper but still nervous for it. I am aware of these diseases and other things they carry and I am taking precautions as well as I can

The babies came up to me in my back yard in the country and they're almost fully independent but they come to me sometimes for food or they've hidden behind me when one mean raccoon ( new guy) tried to attack them and so I yelled and he ran away. But my question is what exactly should I be feeding them to keep them healthy until they go off on their own? They live outside and are getting about half of their food without me but you can tell when they've had a bad hunting day and need some help.

What if they already old enough to run around and climb? Are they able to be tamed when few weeks old already?? Mother got hit by car and the babies are big enough to run from and climb tree to avoid me. But they aren't old enough to be alone and will die. I'm gonna trap them but I'm afraid I won't he able to handle them to help

So I'm in the Toledo area my buddy found a baby raccoon 🦝 and couldn't care for it so we took it in. We can't get him/her to eat. Very sweet and vocal very little teeth were guessing by shape of face teeth and eyes being open but not quite walking but close. Maybe 5weeks. Does it still need burped and stimulated.
Hi hun, I am really trying to find some information on how to take care of a baby raccoon. My brother found a baby raccoon that lives at his job site.he kept it in a box and near the area where they had found it hoping that the mother would come back for it. But she never did!It was three whole days and the baby was almost next to dead. So my brother brought it to me because he knows that I have a heart for animals. So I have been googling everything about raccoons! I have had the raccoon since July 8th and is now July 11th. I really need to speak with you please. I have no idea where to take this little guy because there is nowhere around here to take him to. I live in Cleveland Ohio.if there is any way that I could keep him and keep him in our family I would love to do that but I really don't know what I'm supposed to do I have just been nurturing him and feeding him every 2 to 3 hours about 5 to 7 ml or CC every feeding. We have named him rascal. His eyes are still closed and he is very tiny

Clark County Park District they are scattered all over the barn. There are 4, I’ve caught one. I breed and raise and show dogs and I’ve rehabbed wildlife on my own so that is what I’m doing . The Singleton is eating goats milk ebslac for now. I plan o. Releasing him on my own land (hundreds of acres) when he’s old enough but what solid food should I start him on? Hoping to catch the others. The barn owner will not listen. I e already tried. Thanks for your reply
Donna this is Terry again I definitely like to make this raccoon a part of the family I have a dog and a cat now that I saved both of them and I believe I can do the same for this raccoon I just need to know what I've got to do to get them healthy and eating he's not eating like I told you and I don't know if it's still because he's on his mother's milk he seems to be about four weeks old maybe six weeks at the oldest he's about 12 to 13 in long from tip of his nose to the tip of his tail he can be really gnarly if you wants to be I don't believe he's in shock but if you could give me some hints or pointers on what I can do for my build a big pain form for right now I've got a nice fan blowing on them with blankets I gave him shrimp and water was she won't touch cat-food he won't touch I even tried add some milk warmed I tried to give it to him with a small syringe but when eat it either

Maybe the mother smells human sen sent on that Box and now rejected the baby

I fed raccoons for about 15 years. I fed them anybody’s cheapest dry dog kibble. They liked it. All were healthy. Hope this helps. 😊😊❤️

In L.A. county the Animal control people won't do anything to remove them when you catch one that has been destructive in homes. What to do?
It's super hot next few days..worried about baby hiding in cinder block on driveway. Hoping animal control will help when opens in couple hours.
