Quite agree. His overall portrayal was generally very suave and quite tongue-in-cheek, with great delivery of the throwaway lines. There were however occasional glimpses of the cold, ruthless killer which Fleming created. RIP Sir Roger; my favorite Bond.

It’s also why after Dalton left, Goldeneye practically made more money than both TLD and LTK combined and Brosnan was heavily favored compared to his predecessor.

They were changing up the formula, some fans may say too much. LeChiffre and Greene both died not by Bond's hand, and one even off screen! So the first main villain actually killed by Craig's Bond is Silva in Skyfall. And even that was just a knife to the back.
