is that type of tune that makes you slow down (if you are rushing through life) and somehow begin to ponder more of the reasons you are really here on earth.
Thank God for his capabilities, it is in such sounds I find peace and healing as an individual born free according to terms but still facing racial prejudice. May we never forget where we come from and may God's peace be upon us. ✊🏿
This great tune from some of our finest musicians gave me company to write one difficult assignment the whole night through. That thembela eNkosini line kept me going until I finished the next morning. Thanks Bra Mankunku
going through the past comments about this song after listening to it almost every night for the past seven days, i just wonder how frequent do we get in touch with "our inner-selves" if we only comment after every one year.
I’m not one who usually comments under RUclips videos, but I just came across this masterpiece (completely unintentional) and I must say… it’s a beauty. This one is definitely being added to the Sunday afternoon playlist 🤍
wao!! this takes me back home in those days jazz was the folklore in New Brighton. When the SoulJazzmen with my Dearest Uncle Caster fashioned the township with souljazzy...2nd time I heared this hym live it was by Dudu Phokwane and his Brilliant Band with Penise Saul in Swaziland.Thank you all and may those gone rest in peace.
Had the privilege of listening to bra Tshawe as a kid at some of the most nondescript venues and shebeens and as an adult at some of the most sophisticated venues and stages. He remained Mankunku. It was a turning point in my life.Had I become petty yet Tshawe satisfied the most snobbish jazz palates without deviating from his sound. This helped me improve my listening ear.
And we get called pagans? mercy, grace, love, power, strength, Higher Being...etc without uttering a single word!! If thats paganism then i'm the Chief Pagan.
Reading the sleeve notes, he played horns and piano on this one. I asked him at a live performance launching the album. And he confirmed that he'd never played it with a full band. It was studio song.
