That moment when James Brown comes on and Ynot goes to another level and kills it. If I can use a Dragonball Z reference, it's like he turns into a super saiyan when James Brown plays.
Love Ynot's flava for sure, he's a master. If I was a judge the only negative thing I would say will be the arched back, he always seems looking to the floor and it doesn't look nice, maybe he keeps his shoulders too stiff because he's focusing so much on doing intrincate pattens of footwork? peace.
The contestants don't get the songs in advance from Juste Debout or whatever. But essentially the contestants, especially if they're very well drenched in the culture, most likely and probably know a lot and most of the good tracks or basically all of the tracks. Thats why even if the DJ spins random tracks of his choice, more likely than not, unless its an unreleased fresh track by the dj, the contestants and most of the people who are into the culture will know the music :D. Peace!
Do the contestants get the songs in advance? Cause ynot is essentially listening to each track on full battle before each of his starts, I think that's a fair advantage. Still they both performed really well, I especially liked ynot's performance on the last song, very on-point with the rhythm.
Yeah that's mighty impressive. That being said, having hanged around with bboy's I've noticed they listen to so much funk they ain't up getting the songs they practice to in battles haha.
This just isn't fair. When Ynot enters a toprock battle it almost becomes an exhibition, because we know who's going to win. Maybe Keebz could give him a battle, but I've yet to see him lose when it's about the tops. The other bboy was dope too, but Ynot is to toprock what Cico is to 90s.
Sorry 4 me...basically no can Top Rock..u need STYLE first, there were a lot of fillers (moves that just fill music) Watch Ken Swift..Style and Moves... Sorry.

One of my go-to inspiration videos - both dancers on point, but Y-not just RIDICULOUSLY funky!
1. Johnny Frigo Sextet - Scorpio
2. Irakere - Bacalo Con Pan
3. James Brown - It's A New Day
thanks bro!!
Thanks!
Watched this so many times! Love Ynot's style.
A lot of haters = two dislikes? What exactly are you saying? Most of the negative comments are about the crowd not the dancers.
Doesn't seem to matter if you post baby lullabies, people are always going to ask for the songs :)
I’ve been up rocking since the 70s so do the math
Ynot is translating James Brown to steps...incredible
Sabian todos que YNOT iba a reaccionar asi con un tema de James Brown!!!
That’s the way we do it in Brooklyn

they're all classic breaks. he knew them inside out and back to front.
Yeah that's mighty impressive. That being said, having hanged around with bboy's I've noticed they listen to so much funk they ain't up getting the songs they practice to in battles haha.
@Ravoroll no it's another version
Are you kidding? I Had the pleasure and privilege of being taught by why not and he is anything but robotic.

Theres 2 things not right about this battle.
1. impossible to beat Ynot when theres James Brown
2. The hell is wrong with the crowd?

Pa pa that ain’t up rockin
@a1onarap There is no such thing as whooping a pioneer like Ynot. Keeping it original.
haha i thought ynot made that flash with his hands at 1:56
They don't get the songs in advance. This is all freestyle.
You have to know the technical side of what they're doing to appreciate it
U wanna earn look at 7 gems footage
No need to practice the song... just go with the flow.. listen to the beat
try power battles then.
*****
prob cuz you can't feel the beat bro, no rhythm!
I find all of this music doesn't inspire me to dance at all. Not sure how these guys can manage it.
than you don't have funk in your sould, I guess. I would allways step up for a dance by that music :)
The music is a challenge, the point of a battle is not to dance perfectly, it's to dance better than your opponent.
Sorry 4 me...basically no can Top Rock..u need STYLE first, there were a lot of fillers (moves that just fill music)
Watch Ken Swift..Style and Moves...
Sorry.
sorry y not is too robotic the other guy had better flow ..
lol no. what a dumb comment.
I must admit I agree with you after rewatching the video. Ynot's upper body stiff as hell, despite being cleaner.
