Love this and am excited to try. My biggest issue is I am a casual player so I don't always have all the time to go to the practice area and hit DMs before going into games.
I think this games settings are very different than other games. Generally I dont disagree for most FPSs going with what feels best to you is generally the way to go. I think in this game with micro adjustments being so heavily emphasized on a controller having that low range of senses are so important for consistency but you also need to maneuver around the map quickly in moments and with just a low sense I think that's near impossible
the thing is with focus mode rotational aim assist stop at around 15 meter compared to focus mode where doesn’t stop at any range, keep that in mind when deciding if you aren’t gonna uses focus mode
You're not wrong, however there are many disadvantages as well. Like I said, it's not bad, however there are definitely many advantages to not using it. In the case you can be as consistent with hip firing as you can in focus mode it's definitely optimal, but the average player wont be able to accomplish that generally
@@PestVALFocus mode is left trigger to be the same button map as all other FPS games for a reason, because it's pseudo-ads for controller, normal valorant ADS doesn't have aim assist because it's coded for use for both console and PC which is why they had to introduce a new "Focus" mode for console only. Furthermore, You can't "simulate" aim assist with sensitivity, valorant aim assist makes your cross hair stick to targets so you don't have to make micro adjustments to your aim that are only possible with a mouse, no amount of sensitivity adjustment can replicate that behaviour.
Ill definitely try heavier aim curves again but ive been sticking to "Light" I get that ur supposed to do micro adgustments but also fast flicks. But focus mode seems to do enough for me for microadjustments. 3:47 it kinda feels like second nature to un-focus then re-focus Edit: i will probably change my base sensitivity aim curve higher

I personally use a sens of 20 base with a 9 on focus with smooth curve for base and llight for the rest and its so i can still flick fast and be precise but it might change
Generally I think the way I'm doing it, or exactly, having a high sens base and lower focus. I think long term not using focus is gonna be the move but right now with mechanics being almost the only skill gap it's not too bad
I’ve ran into you and your duo a lot in comp, though I find it hard to believe that we haven’t ever queued on the same team. My duo and I would like to queue with the two of you sometime. The both of us placed within the top 20 last act and if you’re interested let me know.
Im having a lot of trouble in dm with this sensitivity. Trying to resist tinkering with it but ive had to quit about three games now to avoid breaking controllers.
Dampen Shooting I have off and I play .5 .5 movement deadzones with a hold to walk button bound. I have a settings guide that explains it more in depth on my channel if you wanna check that out :)
Actually good question, I use .11 and 1 and I like it. Normally I'd use the lowest deadzone without stick drift but this game feels better with a higher deadzone. I think because aim is very precise with little tracking so the lower deadzone feels too fidgety
Hey man I’m still on edge about if I should switch to left trigger to walk and unbound focus mode. I have been playing for Val for a few weeks now and I have had a 7.1 (base) extreme curve. I’m just wondering how much it affected your aim when u turned it off. (Also I don’t use focus mode much but when I do I usually do good).
I dont recommend completely unbinding your left trigger, ADS/Focus is still usefull and things like the classic or scoped weapons youre kind screwed. I only recommend that if you have paddles generally
In general I only use ADS for longer range fights (20-30m+) you generally only use focus/ADS for when you know you'll only have to make a micro adjustment
How are your buttons bound? I can't find a good walk button, because I either have to sacrifice my ability to scope completely or bind it to a very unintuitive button. Scoping may not be necessary on every gun but having it completely unbound makes many guns useless like the op, classic, etc.
The best advice was to stop focusing on the crosshairs for sure. Only problem that I’ve come across is trying to unbind focus/ads (I know it’s not 100% necessary) but it seems I can’t do it without also unbinding the ability to use certain util like clove smokes or add bounces to recon dart
Yea binds are a little wonky sometimes, unfortunately the controller is just so limited comparatively. I do think having one or the other bound for long range is good though. Hitting long range headshots consistently is definitely tough on controller
How did you bind your controller? I tried to play without focus but then how do I aim down sights? And the other thing without the focus the base pistol isn’t able to shoot one bullets
i think you are wrong about focus mode, having rotational AA at all ranges is good. i play on 11.4 H 8.5 V with extreme curve and 19.8 H and 15.4 V focus with light curve and my aim feels insane and i am able to tap heads consistently, but maybe that's just me.
Rotational aim assist is not nearly as important in this game. In other FPS's youre constantly moving and making larger adjustments, when played correctly, you're literally micro adjusting to still or counter strafing targets. Every one freaks out as soon as they hear rotational aim assist and think they have to use it. In other FPS's, not a bad philosophy generally, this game is MUCH different
I mean, I'll be honest there isn't really much of a "counter" to that unfortunately, that's something that definitely is a little too accurate in this game for a tac shooter
Hi asking..is 9 jorizontal and 4 vertical on both its ok? Whit the heavy ir extreme curve? I think having a low vertical helps ypu not accidentally.moving the stick out of head level
In my opinion having different vertical and horizontal sens's is okay but 4 is definitely pretty low. There are still many angles you need to adjust vertically as well as adjust to people crouching. Not 100% sure what those settings feel like but going up a little on the vertical might not be a bad idea
ty for the vid! when you use a sniper/want to use ads for a long angle with a vandal/guardian do you just switch bindings on the fly or do you have a separate one?
also, just tried playing clove while i had walk bound to L2 instead of focus, and for some reason it wouldnt let me place any smokes, couldnt find any separate binding for placement
I play on 18.1 and idk if should lower it a bit or not bc my aim is amazing sometimes and i feel great and it feels slow but other times it feels to fast so idk
@@PestVAL ah ok thanks for elaborating having that extra slot for a different key bind like a walk key bind will be really helpful because it still feels scuffed to walk without it, i always run by accident lol
If I unbind focus mode, I can't ADS anymore (especially with the operator). I saw a reply you posted about unbinding Activate/Use and prioritizing ADS but it doesn't seem to work for me. Still can't ADS with any weapon. Any suggestions? I use the Valorant preset I think that's why...
Do you have Focus/Sniper Scope bound still? If you have Focus/Sniper Scope bound to your controller and prioritize ADS and unbind activate use it should work
@@PestVAL I see what you are saying and yeah that works. My goal was to unbind focus mode so that I could bind walk to L2 but still have the ability to ADS when needed. I can make this work though. Thanks for the reply!
I recently changed my button layout cause I’m left handed because I can’t response instantly with my right finger so I tried left handed it’s fine but I can’t change aim layout to L so the aiming is bit slow will these settings help me able to maintain steady aim
So would you recommend to have your focus/ads sens not too low compared to your standard sens? I'm a noob and I followed another guide and I have 11 general sens and 7 for focus/ads, is that bad? Also, again, what sens type would you recommend for focus/ads? Extreme is not good for those? Thanks for the good video, very useful informations
Gotchu goat, no that's fine. I think focus/ads sens is very personal. I don't think people realize base sens is much faster than the others (ex. 10-10 base is at least twice as fast as 10-10 focus/ads, even with the same aim curve) so you can play around with it for sure. I do however think less intense curves feel good with focus/ads and since youre only using it for micro adjustments there's no real disadvantage to it
If ADS isnt an option for that weapon it will auto go into focus mode for you yes. When to use it, you should generally only be using it when you know you'll only have to make a small adjustment
Try changing the preset and then redoing your binds to what they were, sometimes they overlap weirdly. Thats what my dev told me and so far its fixed my issues with that
@@PestVAL I changed the preset back to the original and just changed my binds back to how I like them but it’s still not working so for now I just don’t have walk bounded
Yes, I have a scuf so my binds are a little weird with the paddles but you can in my stream and type !settings I have a full clip of every setting in the game
Whenever I disable focus mode it makes it to where I can't zoom in with snipers and if i'm playing Pheonix I can't curve my blind left. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I think ultimately it's up to you, but objectively extreme is the best aim curve given you're able to very accurate with micro adjustments as well as abuse a higher sens. This game is 80-90% crosshair placement and micro adjustments. People are WAY too worried about being able to flick and the reality is, once people get better, my point on if you dont have general crosshair placement for the enemy you will die, will be true in most ranks
I play on 3-3 sens with standard aim curves and it feels the best to me after trying a bunch of different sens values and aim curves. I don't think a high sens is really necessary in this game because it is all about holding angles, crosshair placement, and just overall being as precise as possible with your aim. With my playstyle, I very rarely find myself in situations where I would need a sens higher than 3.
Fair enough, I think right now the game is essentially TDM with one life so I agree, mechanics are the main skill gap. I just know it's not gonna stay that way, at least at a high level
Everyones different for sure, the way the games played right now it's not a big deal. As people start to learn the game and use util better, it may be more of an issue but right now this game is essentially team death match with one life so I dont blame you
I recently changed it to .08 instead of .11 but most games i have it as low as possible but since youre holding angles a lot in the this game are making smaller adjustments typically I dont think higher than "normal" deadzones will be uncommon
So if aim assist is better on extreme and heavy, why not use it on ADS mode? There is one gentleman, whom i cant remember at the moment, that does statistical analysis of the aim assist in valorant and he said that smooth has the most AA followed by extreme.
Focus mode and ads are meant solely for micro adjustments, you shouldn't ever be trying to make large adjustments in either in my opinion. The more "standard" aim curve does feel WAY more natural, the advantage in my eyes of extreme is I can be very accurate with micro adjustments while still having the flexibility to abuse the higher sens as well
But you got extra aim assist in focus mode tho. Hipfire only has a strong aim assit up to 14 meters and the focus one is limitless. Hcpeful did a video on this its quite informational
My entire point in the video isnt that focus mode is bad, it's that turning flashes, shooting util, larger flicks, etc are all negatively impacted by focus mode. At a low level where the game is essentially tdm with one life, focus mode will likely get you more kills than get you killed. At a high level I believe it's the opposite
@@PestVALI completely agree with you, focus mode isn’t bad at all but has some limitations. I think the way you worded it sounded like it was bad. Because theres so many ways to make micro adjusting easier, both are about equal and it’s all up to preferences.🤷♂️

Gotchu goat, no that's fine. I think focus/ads sens is very personal. I don't think people realize base sens is much faster than the others (ex. 10-10 base is at least twice as fast as 10-10 focus/ads, even with the same aim curve) so you can play around with it for sure. I do however think less intense curves feel good with focus/ads and since youre only using it for micro adjustments there's no real disadvantage to it
If you don’t have focus then how do you use the classic?
Or scopes
So with pistols i have to use focus mode? Or when? Im a littel confused when im supposed to use it or not
If ADS isnt an option for that weapon it will auto go into focus mode for you yes. When to use it, you should generally only be using it when you know you'll only have to make a small adjustment
Bro switch focus mode on run. It changes everything, trust me.
how much did you put in movement
I have a settings guide I posted that's still all the settings I use today
How do you ads if you unbind focus mode
Unbind Activate/Use and prioritize ADS
How do you ads if focus is unbound
Great video
Thanks goat ❤
helpful tip
i was searching up tips yesterday then this was posted like 10 minutes ago 😭 ima try these
W
when you say “have focus unbound” how do you do that???
Prioritize ADS and unbind Activate/Use
What rank are you?
Good stuff
Appreciate it goat
Um I bounded lt to walk like you said and I play Astra a lot and I can’t use my ult bc that was Gould to lt do yk how I fix that?
Try changing the preset and then redoing your binds to what they were, sometimes they overlap weirdly. Thats what my dev told me and so far its fixed my issues with that
@@PestVAL I changed the preset back to the original and just changed my binds back to how I like them but it’s still not working so for now I just don’t have walk bounded
Do u have walk on button on hold?
Yes, I have a scuf so my binds are a little weird with the paddles but you can in my stream and type !settings I have a full clip of every setting in the game
@@PestVAL appreciate it
@@PestVAL Of course lol. Every Tutorial video on any game they always have some kind of paddles.... Imma need to invest 😂
Whenever I disable focus mode it makes it to where I can't zoom in with snipers and if i'm playing Pheonix I can't curve my blind left. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Prioritize ADS in aim settings and unbind Activate/Use
Did great
Appreciate it goat
What do you think of standard curve?
I think ultimately it's up to you, but objectively extreme is the best aim curve given you're able to very accurate with micro adjustments as well as abuse a higher sens. This game is 80-90% crosshair placement and micro adjustments. People are WAY too worried about being able to flick and the reality is, once people get better, my point on if you dont have general crosshair placement for the enemy you will die, will be true in most ranks
Aim sensitivity 12 and horizontal sense 10 shows not 10.1 is it right sensitivity?
I play on 3-3 sens with standard aim curves and it feels the best to me after trying a bunch of different sens values and aim curves. I don't think a high sens is really necessary in this game because it is all about holding angles, crosshair placement, and just overall being as precise as possible with your aim. With my playstyle, I very rarely find myself in situations where I would need a sens higher than 3.
Fair enough, I think right now the game is essentially TDM with one life so I agree, mechanics are the main skill gap. I just know it's not gonna stay that way, at least at a high level
plz best sens
I tried heavy / extreme with high sens, it just feels impossible to aim. Rn i’m doing heavy 6.4
Everyones different for sure, the way the games played right now it's not a big deal. As people start to learn the game and use util better, it may be more of an issue but right now this game is essentially team death match with one life so I dont blame you
bruh i dont even have a console and im still watching 😭
LMAOAOAOAOA I love you
Just use focus mode 24/7 with high sense cuz u get more aim assist
This guy knows
Not wrong, aim assist isn't everything though 🤔
I dont understand ? So he doesnt play the classic pistol at all ? If he doesnt aim it does shoot 3 times
Any weapon that doesnt have ADS (Pistols, shotguns, scoped weapons) will auto go into focus/scope
Wait what’s the sens
Currently playing on 8.1-8.1 everything with Extreme for base and medium for everything else
Do you use controlfreaks?
I used to, I do really like the CQC's but my old man hands hurt when I use them now
Are you actually using 11 deadzones?
The more "standard" aim curve does feel WAY more natural, the advantage in my eyes of extreme is I can be very accurate with micro adjustments while still having the flexibility to abuse the higher sens as well
Smooth is well
Whats the crosshair bro
Everything off other than inner lines, 4,4,2,0
soooo.. new settings vid soon??
We can do an updated settings video soon! I also have an !settings command in stream of my updated settings if youre ever curious
Because theres so many ways to make micro adjusting easier, both are about equal and it’s all up to preferences.🤷♂️
is linear aim assist good to use?
no its so bad on valorant for some reason
@@wrr577 linear is objectively the worst one, aim curves are a huge help in this game
