      @@brianwright9514 definitely my view too, if he keeps pushing them this hard, he won't have any doms left by the pyranees. Looking at the next few days, the Megeve stage is likely to be controlled by UAE again, setpiece MTF after a relatively "easy" stage, could suit a train. But the 2 days after are going to rely heavily on Pogacar himself being able to match INeos and Jumbo on the final climbs. Not sure what his team will be good for on the longer climbs. They will probably need to send someone as satellite, like Mcnulty did today, to have someone around on the final climb.

    Tadej Pogacar will probably get away with driving his team to near exhaustion because tomorrow is a rest day but it did show the limits of what they can offer. Jonas smart to stick to Pog's wheel.
    WVA had great nous to get in the break to get the intermediate sprint points & then hang around as the JV man in the breakaway just seeing if an opportunity arose for a win and when it did not backing off sensibly.
    Glad Ben O'Connor stuck with it and finished coming in at 27.35 mins - along with 5 Alpecin team members including MVDP - even though O'Connor looked terrible and about to give up mid-race.

    Tadej can handle the pace as well or better than his gc competitors. He has the luxury of thinking longer term. This kind of strategy allows the champ to keep the reserves of his most dangerous rivals stretched, so they will have difficulty drawing on them at the end of the stage and/or later in the Tour. Bora, Jumbo, and Ineos sent riders to the break and if their GC leaders attacked to join the break, they would be able to help them with less effort with their domestiques in the breakaway. By sending McNulty to break, they would be able to respond the same way if such a tactic was performed by their GC rivals. After smaller breakaways emerged and other domestiques gave up, McNulty returned to help his leader. So, it was just a precaution against possible strategies of their rivals.

    His DS or Tadej Pogacar use their team as they see fit I guess, I am not really surprised he asks them to chase. What surprises me more is that he is fighting for 2-3s at every end of each stage. I mean...is it all for the love of racing...because he can...or does he seriously think Jonas Vingegaard might take some time in the mountain and the final rankings will be close. I can't see it happening.

    • @MDP1702
      @MDP1702 2 года назад +1

      Maybe he feels Jonas isn't actually weaker than him on the climbs, but knows he (Pogacar) is more explosive, thus trying to grab more time at every finish? Though ofcourse if that is the case, he failed at that. It definitely could say something that he is using every opportunity to try and take a couple of seconds. Maybe he's afraid that if Roglic recovers not too far back Jumbo's tag team tactic might actually work in tiring him out, thus trying to gain more and more time on Roglic when he's still not recovered?

    Let me explain since it’s seams like it’s so hard for many to understand… he is wearing them off… he is also making sure Roglic continues to suffer since he is injured, hoping his recovery is slow and painful… and most importantly a little pay back for JVR dropping him last year…. all this is of-course Pogaca being a nice guy and all…. This is what I hear every day: why is he doing this, we are scratching our head etc… people this is f war, when they are down you make sure you push them just a little so you finish them…. Cheers!

Don’t let Pogaca’s smile full you, he is no better than Lance, which is why we love him… this is Mano to Mano… may the best man win, I just wish Roglic didn’t fall and we had a more competitive battle…

    If JV and INEOS can't beat tadjie straight up. Maybe his own marshalling his boys for no real reason, burning full books of matches will? going to be interesting He's very strong but they lost 1 already and Mark H isn't on prior years form. All it takes is one bad day for 1 or 2 of his guys, or a crash /mechanical at a crucial point and it can all change.
    That's the one thing I like about the reduced team size. Shite get's real quicker if you don't have another engine
