The TMNT gba game is really all about juggle combos.
Think of it like a side scrolling DMC.
It was developed by people that worked on Scott Pilgrim.

I do get some very strong Scott pilgrim vibes playing it so I did kinda assume it was probably from the same devs!

Seeing the GB carrying case almost brings me to my knees. One of my earliest memories of my dad leaving the Army was getting that from me back when I was old enough to be in my single digits. I still have the Gameboy and some games (Even the original GB Tetris, and GB Pac Man. In all of their smelly plastic glory).
I that carrier is long gone though and dad is too. Thanks for the memories.

I never got to play the Game Boy TMNT games as a kid, though I distinctly remember seeing them in Nintendo Power, so I was really happy to see them included in the Cowabunga Collection, especially Radical Rescue.
I'd love to try the 2003 beat-em-up on GBA sometime, too. It looks really fun

I love the drawings made for this video and how they approximate the sprite designs of some of the games. I got a kick out of the lineup of turtles that intentionally looked like palette swaps. I quite enjoyed TMNT 2007 but you make a good point about the lack of enemy types and how stupid long they take to defeat so that does get monotonous. Did you know that people worked on Scott Pilgrim and TMNT 2007 at Ubisoft later worked on Shredder's Revenge?
Radical Rescue is such a gem so I'm glad you highlighted it. I'm gonna have to look into Zen, that does look fun.

Thank you for mentioning the art, i did genuinely enjoy drawing the turtles again (something i haven’t done since as a youngster) and i was hoping the next long format video could also incorporate some illustrations. I still liked TMNT 2007 but i did wonder if perhaps after playing every tmnt game in quick succession I had finally become burnt out- it felt very much like the Scott pilgrim brawler so that doesn’t surprise me!

@@VideoGameBear as an artist myself ( have many different channels but this is my anon account where I just comment and no one knows who I am) I was really wondering about this. So you drew it all by yourself? I was wondering if AI could just do the trick but the effort is great like I thought about drawing stuff myself for my videos but would it be really worth it and pay off? like i am often so frustrated when I see people talk about ANY topic and the background is just someone else playing Mine Craft or subway surfers or whatever and I am like :WHAT DOES that even have to do with the video and why does nobody even care? and here you are drawing your own art and I am wondering if it is even worth it. just like people stealing photos from the internet , breaking copyright laws and getting away with it as well.

@@VideoGameBear Unless it was the Pokémon anime or Nicktoons like SpongeBob most of the 2000s era cartoons they wanted to have on GBA Video never made it past a single volumed release. 2003 TMNT was one of those, along with Sonic X and Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Obviously because the GBA Video line never lasted to its full potential for any further releases, and probably wasn't all that popular to begin with even as just a curious novelty in retrospect.

Really liked the art-work you intermingled here with the video clips- always nice to see a handmade touch, doubly so if it involves the TMNT (OR TMHT, fellow Euro-censorship experiencer).
It's a shame that Konami didn't go all the way with the collection and include the GBA games and the 6th-gen console games... but 1987-Turtles are ever the favorites and perhaps the most marketable if you aim at the nostalgia market. I also hear the 02-turtles games were a bit so-so, so maybe they just weren't considered worth including for all the space those bigger 3D-games might've included. Also also, Digital Eclipse's emulators might not be built to emulate PS2 / GC / XBOX yet... so as an OG-enjoyer I simply say 'sorry 02-fans, maybe next time.'
