Fact: The reason Lego Star Wars II is so different to Complete Saga is because they were made by different developers. LSWII was the only Lego game on the DS made by Amaze Entertainment (the same devs who made Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 on GBA).
I can remember as a kid sinking hours into Lego Batman DS and I even revisited it a few years ago for nostalgia sake and was pleasantly surprised how well it held up. The DS version even had exclusive characters to that version which I always appreciated as a comic nerd
The cutscenes for the DS versions of these games are either PowerPoint presentations, compressed fmv that's slightly different from the console versions, or compressed fmv from the console versions
Lego Batman DS was and still is one of my favorite ds games. I have played it for probably around 100 hours since I got the game when I was six. I enjoyed just playing through the game, using the different characters to solve puzzles. I got Lego Batman 2 for my eighth birthday, and even though it had so many new characters and mechanics, I still liked the first one more simply because it was just way more fun.
The villain mode would be a lot of fun in a Marvel game, a chance to play as the villains in their own campaigns. Flying around as Green Goblin pumpkin bombing New York City, smashing around as Kingpin, a million stud map with an Infinity powered Thanos.
Hey man, just wanted to say, I really loved watching this. You've done an amazing job and I really appreciate you covering these underappreciated handheld versions in depth. Can't wait for the next one!
Thanks dude! I'm glad you enjoyed the video, next one I plan covering a lot more then three games, so it'll take a bit longer to release! But thank you so much for all the kinds words! :)
Before I cover them all, what's your favourite Lego game on the Nintendo DS/3DS? Edit: unfortunately, when I show the cutscene for Lego Indiana Jones I had to change the audio due to copyright. So enjoy the creepy music that plays over it now!
I've only ever played the phone ports of these games, but both Lego Harry Potters, Lego Batman 2, Lego Star Wars the Force Awakens, and Lego Jurassic World are all excellent.
This is an excellent analysis of the DS versions of those classic LEGO games! I never got into these back when they were new, so it's cool seeing how they compare to their home console counterparts. Great video!
Thank you! :) yes these versions were what I played growing up. And they’re so interesting, they get even more impressive down the line. The avengers and force awakens games are so great on the 3ds!
I've been wanting to re-buy LEGO Batman and Star Wars: The Complete Saga for a while now, and after watching this I finally ordered them online, along with Indiana Jones The Orignal Adventures. I can't wait to play them again on my 3DS over a decade later. These games (especially Batman) were my childhood.
My favorite thing about the original Lego Star wars 2 on DS was that if your friends didn't have a cartridge, you could actually host a game and do 4 person free for all with you being the only one with a cartridge
I was obsessed with lego indiana jokes as a kid and i have still yet to watch a single movie from that franchise but i always find it weird how marion only has brown hair on the ds version but all the others she has black

Notice how the sound in the cutscenes from the first two games was made up by recycling the sound effects and tracks from in-game? I believe it's because of space limitations in the cartridge, but I'm not sure.
One thing that really irritating in LSWTCS on DS was that to win the gold brick for the Podracing mini game, you had to beat your best for all segments- so if you were struggling with any segments and good at others over time it would make them impossible to beat all bests in one sitting, terrible design
first ds game was lego starwars, id played both it and mario in the wii, so when asked which i wanted in my room, in the car, at school, anywhere i want, i figured Mario could wait well i roam the galaxy, could never figure out the snow speeder lvl tho, id seen the movie 1000 times and knew what i had to do, but the hook always detached and i had to leave an entire 1/6th of the game unfinished before i had the internet, and it took me longer than id like to admit to realize the ds had a mic and indiana actually wanted me to blow on the thing, lego batman in ds felt like a drug trip cus id never seen any of the movies
Lego Indiana Jones for the DS was my childhood, alongside Lego Batman and Lego PotC for the Wii. Seriously tempted to see if i can find my old DS and play Indiana again...
i remember playing the ds lego indiana jones endlessly as a kid, getting the cheat codes in little books from magazines and i loved it, but i remember only thinking that lego games were exclusively ds games, being excited when i found out that the 2nd game had an xbox 360 release and as someone who didnt have a console, begged my friends to let me play it whenever i came round to theirs
Really fun watch again, funny the psp/ pa vita has a close to identical copy of the 360/ps3 versions of Indiana Jones, Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars 2
Dude that Jar jar glitch brought back some memories I didn’t know I had. I have no clue how I figured it out either! Did some hilarious out of bounds stuff though
These games were my childhood. The first two I ever played were Batman and Indy but then I moved on to the complete saga. Which I replayed so many times.
I remember playing LEGO Batman DS A TON back when I was a kid. Always sneakily played when I should've been asleep and I believe my cartridge still has my original savegame on it with 150 hours or something like that on the ingame timer. I enjoyed this gem so damn much dude🙂
Stumbled across this video and I'm so glad I did. Lego Indians Jones on DS was one of the first videogames I ever got, which is odd as I didn't know the series well at all. If anything, I should've had the batman one (since I had the quadrilogy on video). But not knowing it definitely didn't stop me from loving the game. I liked it all, from the various characters with different abilities, to the touchscreen minigames. And due to my age at the time I didn't mind about the compression because I didn't know it was a compressed version of the game from another console. I've played a few other Lego games since, but never bothered to check out the Indians Jones series, but I've still got my 3DS to play my og DS game on.
I had Lego starwars for the ds growing up and when I played on the console and I had to to go somewhere I would just grab the ds and play it on the go ! Never stopped playing it man. Also I didn’t play orginal lego battles but the ninjago lego battles and it was so fun anyone else played that ?
I remember sinking hours into these 3, I played the TCS the most while also playing Indiana Jones and Batman, I remember in elementry school trying to get past the hoth vehicle level and one day? I DID I was blown away that i finally figured it out xD, watching this video makes me want to start some new saves and play through them again!, even after I got a 3DS and moved onto some of the other lego games for it, I still played the TCS, and Jones once i found the cartridge >->, and Batman aswell. It was a wild ride. 🎉
lego indiana jones was both my first ever game, specifically for the Wii, and my first ds game, been replaying the ds one again recently and couldnt recommend it more
The best “glitch” for Lego Star Wars TCS on the ds was the debug screen. Where on the main menu you put in the button combo “⬇️➡️⤵️➡️” three times, then quickly press “R,L, START. SELECT”
0:02 i'd say Sonic 1 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles- okay sorry, i realized it's not really a trilogy, moreso 4 games, because Sonic CD exists (i love that game btw), so i guess Rayman 1 - Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc are kind of iconic, and maybe Worms too, i guess
Lego Star Wars TCS on DS was the first game I myself owned and I cannot begin to express my love for this version of the game and the amount of hours I sunk into it as a kid
I've just found my R4 card micro SD, that still has my old games on. right at the top is the trilogy, with all my old save data. I've ordered a DS lite to explore those old saves, I'm so excited
These games are great fun and if you have a small, portable handheld such as a ds, 3ds, or one of the new android based emulator handhelds that have been coming out recently, they're awesome ways to play lego games on those handhelds.
I had forgotten about the DS version of Indiana Jones. I’m glad it holds up. I remember it being fun, but I played it around the time it released so it’s been a while.
I have a soft spot for these 3 games as a kid but I used to be in a phase where if I were to play 1 version it would be the console version while the handheld ones are inferior and I do agree with that but now after FINALLY 100%ing LEGO Star Wars TCS on DS last year honestly these 3 games are actually surprisingly really good ports while sure it's nowhere near the same level of quality as the console version but for a DS damn I'm impressed how TT Fusion did a really good job adapting the console versions to a weaker handheld system
Yes. I've never wanted to take up coding and modding before, but then I had this same thought a little while ago. I'm still thinking about it, it's just that life is busy.
Lego Batman 1 On The DS Was My Childhood Litteraly Used To Play It All The Time, Then I Also Got Lego Batman 2 & 3 On The 3DS When They Launched! Good Times
Lego star wars 2: the original trilogy was the first game i ever owned on my DS. I actually have really nostalgic memories of this game but a also didn't really like it due to all the bugs. Here in Belgium we had the EU version which didn't even include the final level "jedi destiny" except in story mode. It was also the first time i realized a game could be really bad lol.
Fun fact, Indy doesn’t teach at Barnett college. The university he teaches in is actually called Marshall college, a fake institution that is named after Frank Marshall, a friend of Spielberg and one of the producers of Raiders
Hi could you make a video about ben 10 DS and PSP/Wii/PS2/PS3/XBOX360 games? I really like your channel and I want your review about these games. (Im gonna put this on your other videos so you would notice)
Yeah, I got The complete saga along with my dsi for like my 4th Birthday, played the heck out of it, but I agree, the minigames were practically impossible and outside of a few key areas like naboo & kamino none of the levels were really memorable to me, then again its been ages since I played it
Lego star wars 2 on psp is also a direct port of the ps2 version, with small changes, instead of the bounty hunter levels it has 3 extra levels from lego star wars 1, the last levels of each chapters which lets you unlock lego star wars 1 characters
I'm not sure if you consider it "not counting", but you're missing Bionicle Heroes DS from that lineup! Bionicle games rarely get covered to begin with, let ALONE the handheld versions, but I understand if you're not interested ^^;
I feel like it would be unfair to series if I talked about it because I never owned a single bionicle in my life. I know nothing about the series or the games. :(( sorry
@@CamReviews Ahhh that's fair enough! I just felt that it's an interesting topic because Heroes, (unlike the 5 or so other Bionicle games) was developed by TT directly after Lego Star Wars 1 alongside 2, and is actively an adaptation of the formula into a 3rd person shooter, making handheld adaptations of THAT even more curious. (Also Heroes kind of assumes you know nothing about Bionicle anyway, it has very little to do with the actual series, more just, taking sets and doing it's own thing with them).
i played this alot when i was a kid and recently ive been playing it on my pc but i remember they was this wayne manor hub area its not the bonus level but you showed it at the very end of the video howd you get there?
I'm sure it's nostalgia talking, but I actually prefer the cutscenes being fully uploaded into the ds version of the games. There's some level of charm seeing them on a far less powerful device, it just was always really cool to me as a kid to see those cutscenes and I remember watching them sometimes since I wasn't allowed to watch the real indiana jones as a kid.
The only lego game I have ever played is a Lego DS game. It is called, just simply: "Lego Battles"... And I love it. I really really love it. I wish it got a proper sequel instead of some weird lego ninjago version.
when i was a kid, video games definitely kept different franchises relevant for me. Lego star wars and batman were literally the main reasons i got into batman and star wars. And my brother and i would make up our own stories after beating the main story lol. We would take our create a character and pretend we were playing them in battlefront or in arkham xD because of the games, i watch the movies and shows of anything. kingdom hearts, toy story games, the lion king and aladdin games. the mickey mouse games. Literally creating my own stories and continuing to adventure as my favorite video game character in these games is what kept them alive for me. sorry for the long message. im only 47 seconds into the vid and totally agree with ur statement 😂 oh lego harry potter and harry potter on ps1 and gba as well. Huge fan of harry potter and pirates of the caribbean because of video games xD oh and lord of the rings. ahhh srry srry OH AND MARVEL. ahhh okay srry srry
No for real, I’m the same exact way! I don’t think I would be a fan of any of these franchises or at least as big of a fan if it wasn’t for TT making them into Lego games when I was a kid!
i played a lot of the ds complete saga, i would put on the cheats and just play through my favorite star wars movies. it never felt like a “DS version” of the game. (which is fs bc i was a kid) i feel like it held up really well and was awesome on road trips.
I really wish that we'll get a remaster of lego batman 1 that ports some of the ds content like the characters and villain hunt. That would be the best lego game experience ever.
I actually like the cutscenes from ds Indiana jones better then the console version simply because it gives the game for me an old movie vibe. Like an old western, especially the fade ins and outs.
something that should be mentioned is how unbearably long the cutscenes in lego batman are, this wouldnt be a problem, if you could skip them, whoch you cant
i know you said you wouldn't include the psp in this one but man the psp was a way better console than the ds could ever be. the psp literally had the console game on the go meaning you have the full love that Tt put into their games put into the console ports. i never had a ds and never wanted one anyways since my childhood was ps2, psp, ps3, ps vita and then i moved to pc gaming whilst we still got a ps5 i still love my psp and vita. they had amazing games and were amazing at the time
I don’t think I was ever able to complete the ds version of the complete saga. I remember having a problem with the Hoth battle in episode 5 but I did eventually grind the ps3 version of the game to finish about 80% of everything. It’s interesting that they gave jar jar a gun in this version but not the console versions.
i played all the lego star wars and Indiana jones ones on the ds. i hated the switch lego game cuz there was no character customization which is the whole point of the game, you play the boring story mode, unlock characters, and make your own cool character to replay it as. the whole point of lego is make your own ideas, but anyways that's my opinion of some lego games lol.
Fact: The reason Lego Star Wars II is so different to Complete Saga is because they were made by different developers. LSWII was the only Lego game on the DS made by Amaze Entertainment (the same devs who made Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 on GBA).

BROOOO THE MINIGAMES IN TCS, i completely forgot until i saw all the gameplay but i absolutely loved them as a kid 🤣
I gave my copy of complete saga to a friend way back when, but not the case, i still have the case
Lego star wars 2 on psp is also a direct port of the ps2 version, with small changes, instead of the bounty hunter levels it has 3 extra levels from lego star wars 1, the last levels of each chapters which lets you unlock lego star wars 1 characters
I'm not sure if you consider it "not counting", but you're missing Bionicle Heroes DS from that lineup! Bionicle games rarely get covered to begin with, let ALONE the handheld versions, but I understand if you're not interested ^^;
@@Pinkanator I'll have a look into them, so we'll see!
i played this alot when i was a kid and recently ive been playing it on my pc but i remember they was this wayne manor hub area its not the bonus level but you showed it at the very end of the video howd you get there?
It's up the elevator in the batcave
I remember watching my brother play Lego Batman on his DS.
Oh I definitely agree!
We would take our create a character and pretend we were playing them in battlefront or in arkham xD
because of the games, i watch the movies and shows of anything. kingdom hearts, toy story games, the lion king and aladdin games. the mickey mouse games. Literally creating my own stories and continuing to adventure as my favorite video game character in these games is what kept them alive for me.
sorry for the long message. im only 47 seconds into the vid and totally agree with ur statement 😂
oh lego harry potter and harry potter on ps1 and gba as well. Huge fan of harry potter and pirates of the caribbean because of video games xD oh and lord of the rings. ahhh srry srry
OH AND MARVEL. ahhh okay srry srry
No for real, I’m the same exact way! I don’t think I would be a fan of any of these franchises or at least as big of a fan if it wasn’t for TT making them into Lego games when I was a kid!
@@CamReviews yup, and knowing every characters names lolol. literally because of the lego games
i played a lot of the ds complete saga, i would put on the cheats and just play through my favorite star wars movies. it never felt like a “DS version” of the game. (which is fs bc i was a kid) i feel like it held up really well and was awesome on road trips.
I loved Batman and Indiana Jones for DS. I actually loved Batman’s DS port over the Console port. A rarity for me.
:( I loved the mini games. I used to replay them all of the time
THE TOP 3 OG LEGO GAMES 2007
LEGO STAR WARS
LEGO BATMAN
LEGO INDIANA JONES
I really wish that we'll get a remaster of lego batman 1 that ports some of the ds content like the characters and villain hunt. That would be the best lego game experience ever.
Those cutscenes look so weird! XD
I actually like the cutscenes from ds Indiana jones better then the console version simply because it gives the game for me an old movie vibe. Like an old western, especially the fade ins and outs.
I had all these games on an R4 but I can’t find it 😢
I'm hoping your point about relevancy is true since killer klowns from outer space is getting a game fingers crossed
I really dont remember having any problems with the minigames in ds complete saga except for the deflection challenge as stage 5 was very difficult
something that should be mentioned is how unbearably long the cutscenes in lego batman are, this wouldnt be a problem, if you could skip them, whoch you cant
Yeh the comic book sequences can be long at times!
i know you said you wouldn't include the psp in this one but man the psp was a way better console than the ds could ever be. the psp literally had the console game on the go meaning you have the full love that Tt put into their games put into the console ports. i never had a ds and never wanted one anyways since my childhood was ps2, psp, ps3, ps vita and then i moved to pc gaming whilst we still got a ps5 i still love my psp and vita. they had amazing games and were amazing at the time
I'm including the PSP games in another video :)
The ds had some pretty good games, too, though. Don't sleep on it.
You should review the Lego Island series
I’ll take a look!
People speak fondly of indiana jones but they just don't have much to say about it
Are you gonna review the lego star wars gba duelogy
I'll take a look! Lots of requests!
Lego star wars and batman for the ds were my favourite games ever lol
Lego Indian jones was my jam
You’re underrated fr
Just found ur youtube account , and this channel fits my perfect niche . Thank you for making these ❤
Glad you enjoy it! :)
Lego SW TCS and Indiana Jones were when portable lego games were at their peak. Everything went downwards after that.
What about Batman?
i played all the lego star wars and Indiana jones ones on the ds. i hated the switch lego game cuz there was no character customization which is the whole point of the game, you play the boring story mode, unlock characters, and make your own cool character to replay it as. the whole point of lego is make your own ideas, but anyways that's my opinion of some lego games lol.
Clone wars was a fun game to play in ds
19:30 does that cop have a fuckin _shotgun?_ 😂
Can you please do all of the game boy ones
