Wait... these lock together WITHOUT GLUE? Every set of instructions I've seen for a thread book calls for gluing the layers together. Ok, it's official. I LOVE THIS VERSION. Thanks!
@@KiranCraftandCreations Just tried it with scrapbook paper. Unfortunately that stuff is very thick and difficult to fold. My model wouldn't close like a book. I ended up with a large multi-level piece that's nice, but not compact. What kind of paper do you recommend for this model?
Love the clear instructions, but I see some comments about the completed project not folding flat very well. I think this may be because there is no spine accounted for in the instructions of the larger final piece. The instructions also jump from no spine to having a spine between 21:24 and 21:26. At least a 3cm spine needs to be included if you want the final project to fold like the completed project shown in the video. 🙌
This is the best and most detailed instructions I've seen for a thread book! I appreciate that you showed how it can fold together rather than using glue - it's very true to the art of origami! I mean no shade to those who use some adhesive, but I appreciate seeing how it's done with this modular construction for when I don't have glue available. Thanks for making this video!
This is so great, I love it! I just made one and I have a comment on the spine thing: Yes, it needs one, otherwise you cannot fold in in the middle. 4 cm is good, and for this you just add 4 cm to the width of part E and leave these 4 cm out in the middle when you fold, meaning you do not fold the edge to the middle line, but to the 4 cm line...I hope this is comprehensible.
@@kabaymm I started mine last night and the cutting took a good few hours with converting it to a smaller size, doing the measuring carefully, and cutting. But I also made inserts for the bottom of each compartment, so that’s on me
@@antoniaparish7415 Hi, what type of papers did you use? I have scrapbook paper which is single sided and I have cardstock both are 12" x 12" which is only 30 cm square. And did you use a thicker piece for Type E since it is the base?
Suddenly i see this on shorts n so much frickingly want to make it then find this n im running to make it when i realized my mother will kill me for wasting paper lol 😂
I like the way you do the tiny triangle bits at 8:00 it's easier to do it this way. I've seen other ytbers do it differently and makes it confusing. Thank you for your instructions!
I love it how its a long, yet simple tutorial.Unlike the other origami tutorial videos, they always speed up the video making it short and "time saving",which makes it even harder to observe what you need to fold so you need to pause every 2 seconds, but this video, instead, is so simple and easy to follow!
I've spent 12 hours doing it, and there is impossible to buy 40x40, the biggest is 30x30, so i used some tape. I'm really surprised, that i spent so much time, cuz tbh i hate origami. But this is so amazing, that i enjoyed the process. And the instruction is so understandable! I've read the comments about spine in the end, so i haven't problems... But it's still not flat enough, so i put two big books on it. Hope I'll be able to close it in the morning, ahah
love the video and the steps were so clearly shown and so easy to follow😊❤❤ but i think you could have told us that we are not supposed to assemble type a, b and c together as in the last step we need to assemble everything again😢 so i had to reassemble everything which took a lot of time😕
It would be so MUCH easier to learn if the demo sheets were, for example, white on one side and some color on the other. I have some vision loss, and contrasting colors would really have helped
Oh no I cannot do this, I've been all over town but absolutely none of the shops sold any paper of that kinda olive green or whatever green that is, all of them had all the other colors, just not that one, and my dream of making this magnificent craft with my own hands is now shattered!
@@NehaSharma-yg3sl ahhh the tutorial never said so. Hmmm... If I do that then it'll not be the same as what the tutorial tells us, that's cheating! But thanks for replying
Hello, thank you so much this is awesome! But where do you by the paper? Especially the 40 x 40cm? That is 16 by 16 inches right? What kind of paper is needed? Hopefully you can respond :)

@@KiranCraftandCreations thank you so much for answering my questions. A4 size is 21.0 x 29.7 so does that mean I can tape the paper together to make it 40 x 40 cm?
Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial. Just made one myself. 😊 I'm wondering how you manage to fold it over in the end to make it look like a book. Mine is so tight that I have to keep it open. And it doesn't wanna lay flat 🤭 Will put some weight on it and see if that changes things.
I've noticed there is no spine accounted for in the final sheet that is the cover of the book. If you redo this sheet as 43m/40cm you can use the extra 3cm down the middle as a spine so it'll close properly. 🙌
