It's amazing how good Devo was by 1975. Great sound production, years before UK "peers" sound. Devo had to devolve from mid 70's to enter the music industry, but it gave them a career.
I owned this years ago but can't find it. I loved that you could watch it with commentary from Gerald and Mark which gave you next level history of the band. Any chance it's still available somewhere, somehow?

I had a few Devo VHS’s when I was younger. Not sure which ones were legitimate or not. Some had duplicate footage or videos, but I loved all of them. I watched the first one with my mother after she picked me up after I had purchased it while on mushrooms with my friends. We sat together and watched it. She supported all my art and didn’t understand it, but I think she saw it as a way to understand me.
So far ahead of their time ! I would laugh at Devo fans in the 80's and call them weirdo's and here I am 40 years later finally realizing just how AMAZING they were and ARE !
I know Mick Jagger liked it, he started dancing to it. I believe at some point he said it was his favorite rendition of the song, although I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
Booji Boy is very funny in this original incarnation, Mark manages to give this ridiculous mask the illusion of expressions. Is Booji Boy assassinated for telling the truth about de-evolution? Who kills Booji Boy?
@@nakedfreak1 Always wondered how DEVO would have 'evolved' if it were just the Casale and Mothersbaugh clans. But then again, we would have missed out on Alan's awesome drumming chops.
Devo knew the power of the visual medium in music years before MTV first aired in 1981.
The secret agent man vid is like a fever dream in the middle of the night.
It is such a great version! I’d love to see more of the earlier stuff like that
We never get a clear view of the Devo sign in the background.
It is. I've had it. Whoa.

I watched this with my dad since I was really young. We still have the VHS
i had this on dvd back in the day. Grew up in the same city, same places. Like a time capsule and so freaking good. Thanks for the post. DEVO
You mean VHS, this is incredibly old......
@@waltersmetakI wouldn’t doubt that it’s been put on a DVD at some point

I see now why Gwar said their main influence has always been Devo, they even did the iron logo in the same way and had a Booji Boy they decapitated!

DEVO were so forward in time that if they looked back they would see the future. I've always loved them; of the greats. Greetings from Italy.

I actually had this on 8 track
My brother's Are We Not Men 8 track sent me on my path, lol
Saw these in a theater in original HD today
Awesome
I remember seeing Devo for the first time on SNL- everyone thought it was a comedy skit and is that Belushi wearing a stocking and sunglasses??
I remember Devo Fans would constantly get beat up by Jocks & Heavy Metal dudes. What doesn't kill you makes you Weirder.
We should make a jazz punk hybrid and call it junk 😉
In the context of the time it was made Secret Agent Man is uncomfortable both visually and sonically. Most certain subversive
❤
Omlord I love this ❤️‼️‼️
if we would have known these guys could see the future we would have been more careful about letting the corporations have to much power over us.
Proto industrial genius
Even at 33, still a little high and drunk mind you, I was thinking is that how they got together and recorded?
Salute the flag and say: Thank you DEVO!

Is that David Lynch?

This is where we are right now.
I love Boojie Boy!
Can't wait for the show at the Ryman next month. Bucket list goodness.
Damn. They delivered. What a great night!
Boogie boy's opinion is the only opinion that matters
We merely exist in Booji Boy's world, for he runs Smart Patrol.
What did the Stones think about their remake of Satisfaction??
I know Mick Jagger liked it, he started dancing to it. I believe at some point he said it was his favorite rendition of the song, although I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
dont know about the other members, but Jagger loved it, when Gerald and Mark played the song to him before releasing it

Is that Alan or Mark's brother on the drums?

It’s Jim! (Mark’s brother) the first two videos were made before Alan joined the band. But Alan is in the Satisfaction video at the end.
I make horrible weird faces in the mirror to devo music then hit myself in the face with wet fish for two hours straight!.
C'est très bon tout ça !! 😂
This does not seem like something you'd want to watch while high
whats crazy is we are literally de-evolving due to DNA damage from toxic chemical exposure..
i'm a secret asian man 🤫
