I am an 8V92TA expert. That is amazing work! You need to turn the buffer screw in slightly so that it will only lope 3 times at start up then smooth off. Yes it will lope more cold but not like that. If you adjust the buffer screw when it is hot then it will lope a few more seconds then smooth off. The guy that set it (balanced the racks) should have set the buffer screw then adjusted the idle for you.
I'm not a fan of the rat rod theme but I'm beginning to appreciate it. This is an unusual build and I'd like to see another walk around that showed more and better details.
Yep, how many car shows have you been to and everyone seems to have basically the same car, but with a different badge?....this is truly unique and the fact its a supercharged, diesel two stroke is the real wow factor for me....shame theres no indication on size, torque and HP of the engine
badass truck dude. That's the first time I've heard a diesel lope that actually sounded good. All the others I've heard sounded like they were gonna blow a rod threw the block.
I have been thinking of doing the same thing with one of my 60's Chevy Classic trucks, but put a 5th wheel and use it as a camper hauler with air ride.
That droning diesel sound at 1:58 sold it for me haha REALLY NICE! Looks Great! And You got it to burn rubber!?!?! My Gosh!! Yes I Get to drive it at 3:49 Yes! haha
I agree. Dont get me wrong, I luv the whole Detroit in a old truck idea....... I just dont like trying to make it look like a bro dozer. loose the chrome and get that front end back in.
not sure if you noticed but there is a engine not supposed to fit in the middle, and he needs space so the turning circle won't be around the moon and back... if you ask me the fenders should have been widened and rather put a wider grill in the front to space it out.
dude adjust the buffer screw on the side of the governor and it won't idle hunt so bad.the guys that know how to tune these engines, adjusting the rack, setting injector hieghts, adjusting the exhaust valves are a dying breed.my father was a Detroit diesel mechanic for fourth years.
very nice and my style of liking, just don't like 1 thing, The low hanging trans pan, 1 good speed bump and it will be very high dollar fix, maybe a skid shield of some sort
What causes that loping? I know some people like it but I'm not a huge fan of it in diesels. Big cam gassers absolutely but for some reason it rubs me wrong on a diesel. Makes me want to fix it.
I consulted my doctor about this 4 hour erection, he asked me what caused it. I showed him this video, and now he has an erection too and now this doctor's office is kinda awkward.
You guys may be over thinking this a bit. It's a RAT ROD. It's not supposed to be pretty or correct. It is unique. By the way, it's not idling, it's BREATHING. That's the scariest idle I've ever heard. Probably why they let it breath for so long in the video. It's the builders rolling art work. Not everyone likes all art.
No, it would looked retarded, like every other "stanced" vehicle. removing functionality for the sake of misguided "style" is the stupidest mod you can make to anything with wheels.
Growing up on the docks and being around charter boats and sportfishing boats that often run the marine version of this motor or other brand diesel motors, I have always wondered what causes the bouncing idle. Can anybody explain that for me?
Because it sounds so much better with the governor buffer screw a bit loose! Even properly tuned they will lope a bit with cold oil at idle, this one has been left lumpy for effect, sounds nice.
Blower surge is a phenomenon of the engine alternating between lean and rich conditions in a carbuerated or mechanically injected gas engine. RPM drops, fuel pressure drops, engine goes lean and speeds up. RPM comes up, fuel pressure comes up, engine runs rich and it slows back down. EFI cars control the A/F ratio better and do not surge. On supercharged diesel engines, the rpm is not dependent on air fuel ratio and they do not surge. As mentioned above, it is of the out-of-adjustment mechanical engine speed governor causing the 'problem'.
As stated, this isn't blower surge, this is called "hunting". normally with a properly adjusted buffer screw on the mechanical governor, the engine would return to a normal idle speed after the engine starts to warm up. Seems like the governor was set this way on purpose for dramatic effect.
I was wondering if someone would hit on the buffer screw. I'd say it's backed off for the 'lope'. Good old Bus Motors. Ran rigs from the 2's up to the 12-V's. Can't be beat!
This is such a cool build. And yet such a shame that the whole video was shot with an assortment of potatoes. Idaho, Yukon Gold, Fingerlings, etc. Please make another video of this truck with an actual camera. A GoPro would be perfect!
Pretty much any old big diesel is a 2 stroke diesel. Their more simple and fairly reliable. All that to say they are simply more available, and cheaper.
In the works: Quad turbo; twin compounds each side, 12v92, twin blowers, 13 speed, air ride, custom tubular chassis
no more potato cameras
Holy fuck!
lmao I was just about to say how did we suddenly switch to potato cameras
Trent Balin how long left I'm not getting any younger lol
Trent Balin how much longer?
Trent Balin wow. That's going to be insane.
Nice sound and performance, way better than any 4 stroke.
I had something just like this chasing me in a nightmare.
Keith Petersen Why can't I just have sweet dreams like yours 😳
Jeepers creepers

Ugly as sin and ready to blow smoke! I love it. My only gripe is the choice of front axel.
To each his own but......what's the point of having front fenders if the wheels aren't under them? lol
Military Chevy good point cuz it's legal over there
A E S T H E T IC K S
Ibraheem Al hadede *A E S T H E T I C S
So you think it would look better without them ? ? ? Egad man!
It’s not illegal it’s just he has his wheels wider for some reason go ask ur mum about it
1:48 IT'S ALIVE!!!! That is fucking Awesome!! This is a total zombie apocalypse/Mad Max type stuff! Awesome build!
Everyone moved out of your way except for the baby in the stroller. Brave baby!
2-х тактный дизель - это в наше время большая редкость. Уникальный проект.
Mazda is making functional and durable supercharged 2-stroke gasoline engines.
Idles like it got a cam in it, love it!
I love the last clip of everybody just stopping and staring with their jaws on the ground
The best part of that video is the end. Rolling into the show everybody turned to look at this monster.
Great beast, looks like it's breathing when running idle. Threatning sound!!!
Saw this in the cruise last summer. Loved it. Hope your in the car show and cruise again this summer.
He made everyone at that car show look like a fool lol he's for sure had the BEST car there! AMAZING BUILD BRO! Love it!!!!!
Yep, how many car shows have you been to and everyone seems to have basically the same car, but with a different badge?....this is truly unique and the fact its a supercharged, diesel two stroke is the real wow factor for me....shame theres no indication on size, torque and HP of the engine
spent alot of money on the truck but no money on camera
WILNEL priorities bro
Priorities first.
Driving through those crowds... instant anxiety. lol
Simple, clean, and elegant! Nicely done!
The looks it was getting at the car show is priceless. Like WTF is that! 👍👍👍
I'm glad he was smart enough to use an Allison automatic. no shifting just push on the throttle it knows what to do.
just listening to it idle makes me think of maximum overdrive
badass truck dude. That's the first time I've heard a diesel lope that actually sounded good. All the others I've heard sounded like they were gonna blow a rod threw the block.
Well the effort paid off. That was super cool. The picture looked best with the last camera.
This truck is bad to the bone. And talk about an intimidating presence. The idle alone is mean as hell. Nice build.
I have been thinking of doing the same thing with one of my 60's Chevy Classic trucks, but put a 5th wheel and use it as a camper hauler with air ride.
I am a Ford guy but this truck looks and sounds awesome!! love the long chassi!! looks better than that cut in half stuff!!
That droning diesel sound at 1:58 sold it for me haha REALLY NICE! Looks Great! And You got it to burn rubber!?!?! My Gosh!! Yes I Get to drive it at 3:49 Yes! haha
Dayuum, looks like someone had some spare trailer parts hanging around
Damn, that thing is awesome! That's about all I can think of lol.
Not SUPERCHARGED, they're EXHAUST SCAVENGING UNITS, 2 stroke diesels need these to run.
Smart comment
Thank you for not lowering it, those rat rods look idiotic
look cool to me, but I also prefer trucks with some ride height.
not the 30s fords but other than that yeah I agree
Theres a few models I love lowered but for newer (1940-present) trucks they need to be at least stock ride height.
Wow some people walk their own path ...very cool
And that is how you Troll a car show with an 8V92!
Damn, that thing is fugly. Tuck those front wheels back in.
I agree. Dont get me wrong, I luv the whole Detroit in a old truck idea....... I just dont like trying to make it look like a bro dozer. loose the chrome and get that front end back in.
It looks like it has a different axel under the front than stock and if you had ever built anything you wouldn't insult someones work.
Yup, the front end looks terrible. Fix the front end and loose the cheesy barb wire plate bracket.
not sure if you noticed but there is a engine not supposed to fit in the middle, and he needs space so the turning circle won't be around the moon and back... if you ask me the fenders should have been widened and rather put a wider grill in the front to space it out.
you guys should try building something half this Badass and then you can talk shit. I'm pretty sure he loves it just the way it is
Lecker Sound. I Love It.Erst ein Sägender Motor, dann der Bums, beim drauf latschen auf das rechte Pedal. Grins. Alter, ich will das Gerät Fahren.
dude adjust the buffer screw on the side of the governor and it won't idle hunt so bad.the guys that know how to tune these engines, adjusting the rack, setting injector hieghts, adjusting the exhaust valves are a dying breed.my father was a Detroit diesel mechanic for fourth years.
Somebody asked what are you doing special, he said "yes"
sounds like you need to ajust the governor and run the rack.
Buffer screw.
Chainsaws and generators or the idle spring...
Muffler bearings
It sounds pretty good
The air filters need to be cleaned
It sounds like a bear sleepiiing…and then it roars
Ya need a big old blower on that sucker for those turbos to feed into and give your low end a big boost!
That should be the new Jeepers Creepers ride!
awesome truck can't wait to built one of my own
Amazing incredible, love to put one in my 2500hd,
thanks for the red dot in the beginning
Adjust the buffer screw on the back of the governor to take out that surging. Takes about 30 seconds to accomplish.
An old diesel mechanic.
Nice place nice sunset
this is the best i have seen. love it . you did a
fantastic job. 10 outa 10.
I'm building a twin turbo 8v71 for my bus and was wondering what is the part number for the turbos you chose for your truck
Now that is what I call a weapon.
It breathes like some sort of diesel dragon
▀That's a bad bitch!! When you get that kinda reaction from Everybody just cruising by you know you have a nice ride▀
Diesel is for making power Taskline is for cleaning Parts💪💪💪💪💪
Haha it has a Heartbeat!
Do not adjust the buffer screw to smooth out the idle. Just leave it that way! That thing is alive!
I think it'd look pretty sick without the front fenders, Nice truck. I look forward to seeing more videos of it
1:59 sounds evil... i love it!
and it was all made with 3d printer. incredible
The way how every one look at the truck in the parking lot car show , wow
very nice and my style of liking, just don't like 1 thing, The low hanging trans pan, 1 good speed bump and it will be very high dollar fix, maybe a skid shield of some sort
What causes that loping? I know some people like it but I'm not a huge fan of it in diesels. Big cam gassers absolutely but for some reason it rubs me wrong on a diesel. Makes me want to fix it.
In gear and idling you probably need to pump the brake when rolling around so the surge doesn't lurch the truck too
Seriously run the rack
Adjust the buffer screw.
Maybe even time the injectors.
It will make the old Detroit happier
is this the truck with the runnaway diesel video from a few years back?
Awe some truck Trent !
Why is the idle the way it is? Is that normal, or does it have to be tuned? Awesome Ratrod btw.
excuse my ignorance about 2 stroke diesels but how do they work?.. are they similar or the same as gas 2 strokes?
Drew L similar. Usually there’s an intake valve and the exhaust “valve” is a cylinder port.
In one word awesome
certainly a show stopper :)
Nice one. Would have gone for an oil rag look myself. Keep the "original" rusty look. :)
That thing is way cool!!!
AWESOME...COME TO MICHIGAN DREAM CRUISE!!!! IT'S IN AUGUST
A little confused because the title says supercharged but it's turbo charged?
it's turbo and super charged
I consulted my doctor about this 4 hour erection, he asked me what caused it. I showed him this video, and now he has an erection too and now this doctor's office is kinda awkward.
Great truck!!
What camera is this? The 1981 mark III special!?
I'm jealous, you should paint some green and name her Envy ...LOL!! thanks alot
Very cool sound, but why is the rpm oscillating?
You guys may be over thinking this a bit. It's a RAT ROD. It's not supposed to be pretty or correct. It is unique. By the way, it's not idling, it's BREATHING. That's the scariest idle I've ever heard. Probably why they let it breath for so long in the video. It's the builders rolling art work. Not everyone likes all art.
thats a sweet ride
nice build
Does a two stroke diesel require oiled fuel or is it self oiling?
fucking sick man! would be an honor to ride it
why do the front wheels stick out so far tho?
fastfew2 Because he forgot how to cut something in two and weld it back together again!!!! Like the axle?
Why is it reving like that?
A 2 stroke diesel sounds like it's revving twice as fast as a 4 stroke diesel. Likely not much higher than 3200 rpm
Also Detroit diesels tend to "hunt" at idle. I don't know why
+Dave Belyea its idle surge from the blower that makes them hunt
+Andy wtrtyyttyftuy Its a worn buffer screw in the governor. It needs adjusted.
poorly set rack also makes them hunt but probably set like that for the cool factor.
now that is a screaming jimmy
that thing sounds alll kinds of mean. NICE
rear wheel powered? is there enough weight at the back for enough grip?
What'd you think it would be fwd
stance would look awesome
No, it would looked retarded, like every other "stanced" vehicle.
removing functionality for the sake of misguided "style" is the stupidest mod you can make to anything with wheels.
Growing up on the docks and being around charter boats and sportfishing boats that often run the marine version of this motor or other brand diesel motors, I have always wondered what causes the bouncing idle. Can anybody explain that for me?
Who gave the camera to the guy with parkinsons?
What wheels and tires are you running?
snapping necks at the car show!
How do you cope with auto transmission and such a fluctuation in revs from the hunting ?
I know its a two-stroke, but why doesn't the engine stay somewhat around it's idling RPM? Seems a little bit jumpy
*blower surge*

Wicked surge supercharger

Please make another video of this truck with an actual camera. A GoPro would be perfect!
I don't really know diesels that much so what is the advantages of a 2 stroke diesel over a 4 stroke ?
I know the difference for gas but not diesel
Piss poor fuel mileage and lots of noise!
+rod builder So what is it good for ? 😄
Pretty much any old big diesel is a 2 stroke diesel. Their more simple and fairly reliable. All that to say they are simply more available, and cheaper.
+Eric B that and there terrible on emissions thats why your not seeing them on the road in commercial use anymore
Simplicity and reliability
That's about it
Same for any other 2 stroke
Great work 😱😱😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😋
When I walk the streets, kings and queens step aside.....
