popping in to say that david goggins’ goal when doing this was not to be sustainable! he did what he needed to do to become a navy seal and that meant dropping weight quickly and acing his exam. he used grit and fortitude to get through it and prove that when our minds tell us we feel like quitting, we’re only at about 40% of what our bodies can actually do. so inspirational.
Hello Lucy 🤗 I've probably seen this video of your challenge 3-4 times now, your performance is always so great! I did this David Goggins daily routine for 30 days, or rather struggled through it with a lot of pain. You've wondered how and why eat so little and only 800 calories every day, and how is it possible! Well, since I was about the same or a bit heavier than Goggins and we were in the same league for body fat at around 35-40%, that was his and my main fuel! Goggins knew in 90 days I must be ready for the even more extreme challenge of Navy Seal selection weeks, with the crucial and dreaded hell week ending! So he calculated his weight, body fat percentage, time and goal he had to accomplish, and came up with over 7000 calories to burn initially... Daily! Every day for the next 90 days! At some point in the last month it's going or has it gone down to 5000+ calorie burn per day! So that many kilos of body fat that has to go has resulted in this maximum 800 calorie intake! You are top fit and have a very low body fat percentage for a woman, which makes it difficult for you and all those who are very to extremely athletic to master this challenge for just 1-2 weeks! My body got used to practically no food relatively quickly, i.e. 1-2 weeks, and so did my head and the feeling of screaming for food! Because the body pulls on the largest energy supplier, the fat on the body! And fat has three times more energy to give than calories and also carbohydrates etc. because he and I are in this special state due to ketosis !!! At some point that is the smaller problem, the little food. But the partial inflammation initially in the joints and in the body due to the ongoing strain, blisters on toes and feet, the entire upper layers of skin coming off down to your bare flesh layer, toenails coming off and you falling out, you struggle with it more and it hurts incredibly. But even this point you survive with time! In the end it is only the head, mental work and the will that drives you so far and brings you! That's why Goggins is so famous and well known to this day with all his world records, various ultra mega marathon combinations he has done and various challenges named after him that sound and are inhuman! And in the end everything is "only" head and will that decides!
@@dougt2484 Hey, hello Doug! I'm really sorry that my answer comes now! Got totally lost in my everyday life here to follow! So my story would be too long and complex to explain everything - tell! In short: I am 45 years old and have been struggling with rheumatoid arthritis for over 30 years! I been living and practicing an elimination diet for 2 years - a lifestyle in which I basically only been eating beef, salt and water for two years! I am previously on a 12 year keto - ketovore diet. I have achieved 60 kg weight loss in these two years! In this Goggins routine, in which I actually planned to do it like him for 90 days, at the end of these 30 days I was completely at my physical and health limits, mainly due to my chronic rheumatoid arthritis....My knees and ankles started started to ignite completely uncontrollably and swelling occurred, which means that so much fluid formed and accumulated in the joint that the joint can no longer be bent! So don't walk, run, run or sit down, because you can no longer bend your knees to sit down! You can imagine how painful and tedious it is to go to the toilet! I lost almost 25 kg in these 30 days, of which was easily 12-15 litres/kg of stored water in the body, which was gone after 2 weeks! I found the experience and trying to create it incredibly great, enriching experience mentally, of course never on the level that Goggins mentally achieves his performance, but for me it was sufficient for my further path! Physically, everyone reaches their limits if they do it exactly like this, sometimes after 3-4 days! But worth a try for everyone once in their life, depending on their age and fitness level! Just do it... It hurts and you cry from time to time, but you grow from it in the end! Greetings from 🇨🇭🙃
That seated row view tho 😮! That back gal is 🎉🎉🎉 amazing stuff !!. His routine is literally wild , the food to exercise ratio seems inhumane, glad that you highlight insanity of it all . But take the biggest hat off to you for this one !
Thank you for doing these videos. I like how it pays tribute to the hard work others have done. David Goggins has been an inspiration for me and it was great to see this.
True, but if she is doing these challenges as tribute she needs to do them as closely as possible to the original. 30 days to do this challenge like Goggins did, not 24 hours. I watched her Tom Platz video, she did really well, but she needs to do them far more intensely like Platz did. To me, it’s just mimicking on the surface level instead of actually doing this as a real challenge.
Absolutely love this video. You inspired me to read his book. He inspired me to make decision and stick to them through thick and thin. And it literally changed my life and Perspective.
I'm currently injured and unable to run / train like normally. I can't wait to do challenges like this after I've fully recovered. You did GREAT and I found it so inspiring Lucy!!<
youre a beast Lucy !!! i know this was far from easy but i love the dedication and drive you have to push through; this is truly very motivating. much love
@@NorsePaganK9 he doesn't, he did it during the navy seal time to drop the weight ridiculously fast but he eats more and has a different training routine now
I get that you keep saying it's unsustainable but it was never meant to be. It was an extreme situation with a very strict time limit so you wouldn't be coaching someone to lose 100 pounds in 3 months because under normal circumstances it's not necessary
I can't comprehend how little calories he ate for how much energy he expended per day wow... that can't be good for your body! Even if it does say a lot about his mental strength.
He was 125kg or more when he started and needed to be 100kg The first day of the course in three months so that’s why “sustainable “ wouldn’t cutted it. That’s not a training schedule to somebody In shape, it’s actually way more risky to somebody in shape because they don’t have much to pull from.
Love to this video, Lucy! I just had such a good idea… Have you read the 5 am club? I would love to hear what you thinking if it… maybe a video of your opinion on it/you putting it into practice… would be so cool 🫶🏼
Incredible Lucy!! Every time I watch one of these videos you do it makes me feel so pumped to eat and fuel my body so I can be strong AF and a beast like you! ✊💪💪💥💥💥 Seeing you set new goals after your ultra was really great and it was amazing to see how your body responded to the strength training. After hearing you open up about your eating disorder I was inspired to pursue full recovery and now I'm making my own eating videos 🤯I owe so much of motivation to recover to you and I'm beyond grateful for you! love from LA! xo 🥰❤❤❤💕💕💕
Intense and really challenging, but bike riding outside is far different than riding indoors. You don’t get the same environmental conditions which can affect performance.
Regarding how he did this without food.. is it because he had so much to lose and had energy stores? I ask because I lost body fat when I got into ultra running and I have a way lower tolerance for being hungry now.
I think people that dont believe in his calorie intake. People that dont pick up on what Goggins did in Living with a Seal by Jesse Itzler. There was a point in time where Goggins will shovel as much food as possible in one sitting but most of the time working with Itzler he would fast and eat very little. But thats where I think he was able to sustain some of his calories. Its just not highlighted. Basically a keto lifestyle but extreme. But that might be a hint of when he takes in more calories compared to most of the days he eats basically nothing at all.
It seems this the work out DG did to lose shed loads of weight to get in the Army/Seals...oh just realised you said this at the beginning... Just finished it. Hats off to you. He had 'access' to a whole load of calories :-/
gotta remember he was almost 300 lbs wen he did this routine. so im sure his fat reserves gave him more energy. but its wat he had to do to lose the weight in time.
Sorry but this isn't about fitness, but sadism. Goggins is the Rasputin of motivational psychology. Ought doesn't always translate to should. When it does there is something deeply wrong.
Yeah it's really hard... I work about 12 hours every day so i can only do exercise early in the morning at 5AM and after that I go running to work which is like 5kms away But yeah, I agree with you it's really hard to follow that plan if you have a regular job
@@LucyDavisFit Got it! Woweee wow wow. How did you feel the next day? I feel like waking up after a day of under fueling with that kind of energy output would make me feel like a ton of bricks hit me and I'd want to stay in bed for the better part of the day!
