Omg I have one of those at my table lol. We've been playing different campaigns together for like 4 years now, and without fail they always forget that their Fighter has more then one attack per round.
Tbf some of us legitimately have memory issues from age or illness. One of my meds has really destroyed my memory and I am this person now-- I vacillate by the day whether I remember this stuff or not. Made it especially hard to DM but thankfully my group was forgiving. Plus I had a pair of rules lawyers so I basically hired 'em to work for the house. 😏
We have a painter at the local comic book shop (also the game shop). He’s a nice guy and always has a few extra minis or terrains and let’s the random kids who come in to the shop paint with him while he works on his own work too. I know he is a game master but I believe he runs his games more privately at either his house or one of his players’ places. He mostly just comes into the shop, from what I can tell, to work on painting the set and minis. It’s relaxing to sit around him and work on ones own work too if needed. No one but the kids interact back there but wherever he sets up is where other people working on stuff congregate because of this relaxed work vibe lol. Thought I would just share.
That guy is a dime a dozen. You just need to know where to look and live in more rural areas. The only other time I find really chill people is when I travel around. No fuss, no drama, no politics, just people vibing with their hobby.
I was at a comic and pop culture expo this year, and I was a DM at one of the tables and I had a free one shot where anyone could join. The first group quit half way through. I sat there for maybe 3 hours and was sad, thinking I wasn’t a good DM. As I was starting to pack up a whole family showed up and some other people and asked if I was available. I was like “Ofc. We can get started now” I had everything prepared, including premade characters for anyone that didn’t want to or couldn’t make their own. We completed the whole one shot and everyone left the table thanking me for a great game and saying they had a lot of fun. That made the wait worth it and made my day. 😊

Not at all! It's just that a lot of 5es criticisms are fixed or non existent in PF2E. Although 5e is still a decent game so please don't feel bad for playing. Just don't give your money to WOTC as they shouldn't be trusted anymore

Meh. Most of my problems with DnD are shared by PF2E, and while it isn't for OGL reasons, Paizo isn't much less scummy than WotC/Hasbro, in my opinion. I hear first edition Pathfinder would be more up my alley, but I've got so many projects (both inside and out of TTRPGs) on the backburner that I haven't gotten around to checking it out yet, and frankly, if I do, I'd rather not give Paizo my money (if they happen to sell it still), so I intend to go all second-hand with it, when I do.

I appreciate your accurate depiction of the largest group of TTRPG stereotypes: The invisible individuals that struggle to find local stores that offer drop in drop out game options for singles who don't have existing groups to play with. Maybe I just have bad luck but I see a lot more "hosting existing community" events. When you specify events for singles not existing groups basically all the results disappear. But eh... just my experience.
I love getting to see all of you guys from my local game store. It was super cool to get to see you all using the books I donated in the skit as well! Loved the video.
As someone who is currently working on their own system, I can relate to the own system stereotype. My system is called For Hearth and Home, and it is entirely themed around dwarves.
Comment for the algorithm! The camera work in this is really nice, it kept surprising me - and the flow of the overall narrative was very well-executed!!

Only ones I can think of that I would add would be the DM that makes everything they can from scratch, like the DM screen, minis, maps, and stuff. And the totally unprepared DM, who doesn't make or bring anything, who drew the map with whatever was around on the back of whatever paper they had around, uses whatever they have at hand for minis, and only has their rulebooks and dice as apps on their phone that they forgot to charge. I've been both.
That ending hits hard, i almost expected a bunch of people to pat him on the back consolingly and offer other options. That said, im still reading all yhe pathfinder rules and studying up how to make the critters in that system.
window shoppers are a thing too. Only going to the shop to look at the actual minis before buying them online or making proxies. Proxy players vs official setup (including the equipment on the mini matching the data) would also be a good juxtaposition.
The eternal noob, the forever getting phonecalls guy and the dice magpie (the guy who always wants to show you his new dice cause there "shiny shiny" then rolls 1s all night) would all make great additions but this had me in hysterics laughing
Then you have me that was playing a D&D campaign set in the Warhammer Universe. I was playing a Minotaur Warlock of Tzeentch that was a vehicle for seeing how much chaos I could create without crossing the line with the other players.
That D&D chap seems like a man of culture, I like the cut of his jib. He seems 100% accurate in everything he says and does. Everyone else is just crazy.
Unfortunately, I think I am the "Lonely DM" type. I've always wanted to play DnD (and other games), and would buy the kits/books and miniatures, yet was never "cool enough" to join others. Now that I am disabled, well, thank Hades for video games. I still build terrain and kitbash for fun.
Same here, including the disabled part. I still collect and learn systems, mostly because I actually really like rule books and text books and such, but the only time I play I do solo, which just isn't the same. Especially since one of my personal favorites is PTU, which is kind of crunchy, and even just playing as a single player involves managing a minimum of two characters. In other words, managing any combat encounters means managing a large number of characters that have tons of math to keep track of, so the most simple of encounters when soloing against yourself takes an absurd amount of time. Video games definitely help fill the void, though.

As a solid board gamer, hard agree, I cannot do theatre of the mind. It's alright for simple Melee and ranged fighting, but my first campaign using it I had built a control focused bard, and it took 20 minutes to get across to the DM how I wanted my Stinking Cloud placed.
The ‘Lonely DM’ is not one I’m familiar with. Where I live, there’s so many people who want to play and so few willing to DM that anyone who even mentions that they might run a game immediately gets swarmed by people asking about it
