    Rozier is referring to himself in the third person. He thinks he is one of the best point guards in the league. Having a ego is understandable because having confidence is vital for success but there is a thin line between confidence and delusion. Rozier is definitely capable of being a good starter in the NBA but i dont see him as a star point guard.

  • @nevar5232
    @nevar5232 5 лет назад +21

    I think the problem with the Celtics was everyone’s egos clashing combined with them not assessing every situation carefully. First, I believe kyrie’s first year with the Celtics was great. He led the team to the second seed (55-27). This was when the team accepted him as a leader and was some what willing to have a reduced roll on the team. During that season I believe they went on a twenty game win streak and kyrie was willingly sharing the rock. The problem started when they went on that playoff run without kyrie and the media gassed the young players up. They started to question whether kyrie should lead the team and why they have a small roll when they played in weak eastern conference(the bucks team they played last year was terrible). Of course kyrie deserves a lot of blame. He only made things worse with his antics but it’s hard to control a players ego when the the player you are trying to control is upset with you instead of another player. It also didn’t help that the media kept making it worse and these players kept listening.
    If you read this far I overall think that the Celtics main problem was the young players including kyrie just being young and dumb, not assessing every situation with careful thinking, and allowing outside forces to affect their judgment.

    Another very good chime in. My take:
    1. Ability & contribution of Tatum & Brown higher than originally expected or Ainge would not hv paid Hayward that much. That was not supposed to happen if Hayward didn't hv that horrific injury that gave both a lot of playing time.
    2. Kyrie's announcement at start of season means he was a snake to immediately screw Rozier as Kyrie was getting beat in practices.
    3. Stevens' failure - He clearly was not the alpha / dominating coaches like Pop & Riley. But I did see Stevens called timeout in several occasions to stop Kyrie to go hero ball in end of games & drew up winning play & scored instead. And I fully agree that Ainge was the one telling Stevens to go with his strategy. So cannot fully blame Stevens. When boss tells you the direction, you follow.
    4. Ainge's tactics to show max value in Kyrie & Hayward in order to consider trading them are understandable but I think he didn't pull the trigger bec most GMs saw the type of person Kyrie is, & no one wanted to give up assets for a few months' rental. Once after trade deadline, 1 game before the Rockets game Kyrie started to really play the right way, on both ends, up until playoffs & including G1 of Bucks series. My hunch is when Ainge spoke to him (this was in the media), he prob told Kyrie "we've given you enough time to get your stats & showcase yr value. Now it's time to play ball as we need you to play the right way to try & win a championship. If you don't follow that, I'll gell Brad to sit yr ass down & you'll get 15 mins / game & we'll let Rozier run the show & push down yr value"

      Wouldn't mind kemba joining us if etheir Kyrie or rozier walks : or hell if both of them leaves I STILL wouldn't mind them going after kemba , but I TRULY believe that ROBERT WILLIAMS is better than both Tatum & brown COMBINED , an that ainge should consider building the future of the team around him tbh.

    • @makgeoff
      @makgeoff 5 лет назад +1

      @@Cj-hj6rm Identity of Celtics under Stevens is defense first, grit & ball movement. Not sure Kemba is a good fit as he also holds the ball too much & suspect on D. Williams has a lot of physical gifts & seems to hv good ball sense as he's been mostly on spot on PnR & on D, except for his tendency to chase for blocks than to play D with verticality, box out & rebound / let teammates rebound. His shot & form is still very very weak so he is clearly a work in process, as a player. His mindset was way off at the start then sort of had a whipping before got under "leashed" & seems to be appreciative of what he has based on what he said in his interviews (Remember, NBA teaches players what words, phrases to say in front of camera. Notice how consistent they are at most times from rookies to veterans, even star players!)
      So mindset wise, Brown is the most awesome young player within the Celtics group, as he had several games single-handedly willed the Celtics back & won. He is also not afraid of the moment & never backs down, no fear. After he got thru the hand injury that he tried not to blame on before All Star Break (ASB) , plus a bit of a beef going on with Kyrie & getting used to his minutes, he has been the most steady & impressive Celtics on both ends from ASB onwards, & esp in Pacers series. You can teach & learn skills but high IQ & tough alpha mindset & knows exactly what he wants, at this young an age, this kid MUST be kept in Boston. He MUST, however, improve his FTs. He was the lone one trying to get to the hoop & line consistently since ASB.
      Tatum is already tainted by Kobe. Even though he did get more opp to learn to be the 1st & 2nd option to read defense & create opp for his teammates, he struggled all yr esp first 20 games mightily. He has been holding the ball too long in reading the defense, not by intention (Kobe & Kyrie) but bec of experience. Last summer he did not improve himself in areas he should have: defensive footwork, & left side moves & finishes with left hand. Notice that his favorite moves in left side is mostly step back long 2s, where he is way more active with drives to hoop on right side that initiates with his right right. If Kyrie is gone & Ainge & Stevens get his mind right to focus on improvement, not just $ & fame, he'll still has a chance to be Pierce 2.0.

    Dude you got shots up. You chucked up alot of bricks. You aren't a knock down shooter and you aren't a better iso player than Kyrie. So what are you saying?. You can neither shoot nor penetrate better than Kyrie and it's not even close. Are you just asking to be traded to a worse team so you can get more burn???

    This needs to be said from the jump: The young guys know Gordon is soft...listen to Terry as he references him; he's uncomfortable even saying his name. He's being paid like a boss, but has the personality of a worker; these guys see this because they either have developing boss mentalities or demand that if one is getting paid like one, he better act/play like one so they can fall in line behind that. Under other circumstances, Gordon would be a third or fourth option with starters on teams as talented as the Celtics but was force fit into the lineup to their detriment. This created the issues with him on that team and he played like a guy (no more injury excuses) who was burdened by his contract, was pressured into the lineup by coach/management out of a brand of loyalty not shown to anyone else on the roster and knew the younger guys can outshine him any day. Kyrie is a whole other ball of bullshit as is the coach. We all saw this coming in the preseason when they played like shit, the coach kept saying they aren't playing right, nothing was done about it, no expectations were set and the offense/defense dynamic was screwed for 82 games. Never so happy to see a Celtics season end in my life....I wish Oladipo didn't get hurt because they would not have made it out of the first round.

    I really don’t think Terry Rozier is envious. I think he’s just talking about the facts as they were. The money played a part in a couple ways A) you have to justify Hayward’s pay scale if for no other reason than to showcase him and B) Irving doesn’t have the same constraints because he’s paid and will continue to be paid. He doesn’t really have to “prove” anything in the way the younger guys were

    Rozier is just competitive you can tell by how he went at Bledsoe last year In the playoffs I honestly thinks he thinks he’s better than kyrie I can imagine how intense practice was with these two

    I dont think he's really envious of his money but the fact that hes making all that money and basically not contributing how much hes supposed to. Ya see that he didnt say anything about kyries's money because he actually had the stats and game winners to back his up

    Well the one thing i'll say is that the numbers actually show that the team played better without Kyrie, so the "young dudes" sort of proved it. It's too bad. The ceiling should've been through the roof with Kyrie. I also don't want to hear Kyrie saying things about "team" ball when he didn't move the ball well and integrate the people around him well most of the time either.

    In all fairness, why would the young players worry about the “team” when unlike Kyrie, they havent gotten their big payday yet?! Of course they’re worried about themselves. Kyrie has made millions and has a shoe deal. These guys are playing for their bag.
