- The first video, the first day of of a three-day hike along the Pouakai Circuit, to Pouakai Hut. (We stayed in the North Egmont Camp House the night before the hike). Egmont National Park’s three day tramp offers spectacular views of Mt Taranaki and the surrounding countryside. The 25 km track passes through forest, alpine tussock fields and Ahukawakawa Swamp. The Pouakai Range is an eroded and heavily vegetated stratovolcano in the North Island of New Zealand, located northwest of Mount Taranaki. The range is surrounded by a ring plain of lahar deposits from a massive collapse that has been dated as roughly 250,000 years old. The region has been reshaped more recently after each cone collapse from Mount Taranaki. Mount Taranaki is a dormant stratovolcano in the Taranaki region. At 2,518 metres (8,261 ft), it is the second highest mountain in the North Island, after Mount Ruapehu.
I'm a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Hamilton, New Zealand. My videos are a mix of music, and hiking the outdoors. Ceolskog is my folk metal / heavy metal / country rock (and some other genres) band. It is also the name given to this hiking and nature-themed RUclips channel. Ceol means music in Irish, and skog means forest Norwegian and Swedish. I don't have a Patreon, but if you're a regular viewer, and you want to support me some way, you can find my music on Spotify, Bandcamp, iTunes, Soundcloud, Amazon, and RUclips too (of course).

@@Ceolskog Warming up and getting lighter. Spring is springing.
Incredible mountain to hike in the shadow of Adam. Loved the swamp and the evening glow of Taranaki. I can only imagine what it felt like to actually be there. Another awesome adventure. Mark
Thanks for watching Mark. Yeh, the evening colours were even more vibrant in real life, it was pretty awesome.
@@Ceolskog A pleasure as always Adam. Great to hear of the colors mate.
A very nice part one Adam, i liked the pink mushroom, i haven't come across those before, nice striped beetle too!
Thanks Steve. About time we went on another hike.
@@Ceolskog for sure!
We're doing the hike into Waihaha hut on the 3rd and 4th of May, if you're keen. I'm also keen for a day one on the 6th of 7th of April (got the weekend off), or even an overnighter (nothing planned as of yet).
@@Ceolskog I'll check the calendar and see whats on that week 👍
