Great video. I wish all YT videos were like this. Firstly no 2 mins into/self-promotion. The entire video is quick, clear and concise. Bravo and thanks
I have a question...while blocking a shot as a defender can u keep ur arms completely tucked in not by the sides but in front of the body...this came after I saw one of my defenders get struck by a shot in the balls...like can't u just block a shot while covering that area with ur hands while ur body position is completely tucked in?? plz reply
@yuvrajbindra2289 Yea, as long as your arms/hands are in a position that is an extension of your torso/body, it should not be a foul. In other words, having your arms covering your private parts or directly along your sides should not be called a foul if the ball touches your hand or arm. It is only when your arm is extended away from your side that a foul should be called.
So what happens if a player blocks a shot while in the box by crossing his arms over his chest and the ball hits his fore arm? Which potentially stops a goal from going in? Shouldn’t the other team be awarded a penalty kick?
Nope. In that case, if his hands are across/against his body, the arms are considered an extension of his body. Therefore, no penalty kick should be awarded. However, if his arms were extended away from his body and the ball hits an arm or hand, then it is a handball. If it occurred in the penalty box, then it should be a penalty kick for the other team.
@@RetreatfarmFarmvilleVirginia That would likely be a whistled play and possibly even a yellow card for the player committing the foul. The ref could call it as a handball or definitely as unsportsmanlike conduct.
The handball penalty rules need to be revised! I see penalties awarded for situations where there's NO advantage for the defending team and sometimes the ball isn't even deflected. Ridiculous!
As long as the hand is extended away from the body, yes. If the hand is along their sides toght to their body, it is considered an extension of their body and not a penalty kick.
If the hand was outside the box when it made contact with the ball, it should be a free kick, not a penalty kick. It is where the foul occurred, not where the player's feet were...

Is there a caution in this regard?@@UnderstandSoccer
@@antonyngatia7607 Nope. No caution is warranted.
If it is handball out of penalty area. It is penalty or freekick??
If it is not in the penalty box (18-yard box), then it is a direct free kick.
Is it handball if an opponent strikes the ball in the goal keepers hands while on the restart or in play?
What do you mean by strikes the ball in the goalkeeper’s hands?
@@UnderstandSoccer The opposing player comes from behind and with his hands tries to knock the ball out of the goal keepers hands after play resumed.

Agreed! The rules are pretty subjective and ultimately up to the referee's decision...
Is it a penalty if the ball gets rebounded from the goal keeper and hits one of his team mates hand
As long as the hand is extended away from the body, yes. If the hand is along their sides toght to their body, it is considered an extension of their body and not a penalty kick.
Ball hits in hand , player hands is floating outside the box but his Both leg and body is inside the box .. is it penalty or Handball
If the hand was outside the box when it made contact with the ball, it should be a free kick, not a penalty kick. It is where the foul occurred, not where the player's feet were...
@@UnderstandSoccer thanks for the information ❤️
Yes it is.. in football the line matters.
Ok so my team was robbed
@@mralmond693 How so?
@@UnderstandSoccer hit chest and brushed the shoulder in natural position ref called penalty
@mralmond693 Definitely should not have been. Sorry, man...
how does it count as a hand ball if it touches your arm witch is not your hand that makes no sense
Agreed! It doesn't make sense. The rule is anything below the shoulder though...😅
what if an oppenent accidentally touches the ball but your still in posession?
If you still have the advantage, the referee should let you play on...
Shoulder is still a hand ball!!!! Your wrong!!!!!
Nope.
It's football not soccer
What is?
