Bitwig's Reverb Device: Don't use it! (without this tip!)

- The Bitwig stock Reverb Device can sound harsh and artificial and was not my first choice for reverb, until I understood this tip I discuss in this video. Now it sounds great to me, and I find it much more useful than before!

good reminder: use the tank & fx boxes!! thanks kevin !
I haven't read any of the papers but I think the point of the chorus is that the subtle pitch bend moves all the resonances around a little bit, which is an approximation to a more realistic space which has a much larger number of resonant modes. A lot of early digital delays, eg classic lexicon, are modulated allpass networks, and adding chorus is much the same idea.
This is a great tip, man. Thank you! Looking forward to the next vid - ✌
thank you for this, I've always been vaguely dissatisfied with the stock reverb and I usually mess with the settings every time I load it up
Excellent points here. It always kills me to hear people saying stock plugins suck. Often you just have to actually learn to use them.
Thanks. Super useful as I didn’t like the stock reverb much but my ear was not good enough to work out why and I had been too lazy to investigate so far
The stock presets are quite good and great starting points altogether.
Awesome tip, thanks for sharing!
Dude, thanks for this vid! Saw like half of it and already recreated a reverb pedal from one of my fave amp sims I own.
It's nearly identical- main difference is I can fine tune the parts I don't like =D
hi could you make more videos with bitwig's native reverb simulating other types of reverbs ? like Hall, Plate, Spring would be very interesting
Very interesting! Thank you for the review. I've never tried to compose music in a studio, so I may even not know how it should really sound.
When I tried reverb in Bitwig, I found it interesting (after Calf Reverb in Linux). But then I realised, I cannot control it that easily. So I started using Reverb presets in Bitwig, and it started sounding better.
Now I know what was different.
Great tip thanks I feel better about the stock reverb now
Good vid man. You can also use the Tank FX to get some pretty wild feedback by boosting a given frequency with an EQ using a narrow Q. FFS don’t do it in headphones though, peace ✌️
Thank you. I think one of my projects suffered from the reverb sizzle. it could use some eqing on the wet and tank, and I like the chorus idea. It's sort of like the modulation perameter on plugin reverbs. I bet it could be interchanged with a phaser or flanger too.
can you post your reverb preset please so we can download? thanks
Brilliant, thanks a lot for sharing this information
How do I add reverb to selection? Like if I select part of the song, how do I add reverb to that?
Hitting the mark again, Kevin. Thanks!
Good tips!
Great tutorial thank you for sharing :)
May I ask you how did you change the name of the button in "sound better" ?
I searched on internet, didn't find any solution to change the button's name.
Thank you :)
Ben.
I believe you can change in the inspector panal below the show help setting.
