The Mormon church is like that one person we all know that makes inappropriate comments out of nowhere, and then when no one laughs they try to cover it up by making even more awkward and weirder comments making everyone uncomfortable
Rebecca: “And what do you usually say back?” Landon: “Ohhhh crap” I played that part back over and over again, laughing ‘til I was crying…Mormonish is such a pleasure and a delight to listen to!
I like your sarcasm. As a child, I believed all the bullshit reasons they gave us in Primary for polygamy. As an adult male now, it is easy to see that Joseph simply liked cheating on Emma.
The original said “plural marriage for children” then they deleted the children part. I guess when too many of your prophets married children they don’t want to draw attention to that.
This is an hilarious and brilliant episode. Your mocked up alternative version of the Church's absurd but insidious infant propaganda is superb example of satire's potency. Well done to you both. 👏🏼 👍🏼😂
I think for anyone still in the box, they just reflexively make excuses and justify the changing benchmarks. They are so used to lying to themselves, they aren’t even aware!
On the pluralmarriage part: How are they going to introduce this to non-english speaking and non-Utah peoples? This section is not translated to my language yet and i have huge doubts how this will work (teaching plural-marriages) in my country since we've never have had that "tradition". By just changing languge in the menus and trying to find a translated copy is not possible.
@@mormonishpodcast1036 Maybe, but is the worldwide church going insular or why are they doing this way? Not that i'm sad about missing out on this, but it's strange that they don't release this at the same time for every language... Same thing with the news section, latest "local" news update was in august.
Just watch. Polygamy being banned was a temporary commandment... Polygamy will come back. This is priming the pump to make it sound normal. PS: Hi Strengthening Church Members Committee. We know you're watching 😉
Why leaving Joseph out of the introduction? If Joseph gets proven wrong then all of it is wrong right after that. All the books he wrote, all the translations he made, all his prophesies… boom!! All of it is done!! If we get rid of Joe, we leave room for the other prophets yet to come to get it right.
Yes. The nanny of JS had to marry him because god wants it. The story left out the FACT Emma was JS 22 or 23 rd polygamous wife. He also married other woman for 11 years before telling everyone about gods commandment. Such bullshit.
Actually, there is one group of native Americans who do have some Middle Eastern DNA. This has been mapped in detail by geneticists. A search will bring up more information. This group are the Cherokees, who were predominant in the American Midwest. It was already well known in Smith's time. He included it in the B.O.M. to flesh out his story, just as he used other known sources of information, many of which have already been discussed. He was simply a compiler and organizer of information already known at the time, while adding some fanciful stories of his own. Yes, the other groups did come over the land bridge. I am not defending Smith or the B.O.M., just wanting people to know about this important fact.
Wow! You two are amazing at pointing out the gaslighting. I wish you would have been my primary teachers! Thank you and keep up the great work!
As a father of four girls I am so happy my girls have stopped going to church. They stopped young enough to not by into the bullshit.
OMG every time you guys refer to the “hard commandment” I bust out laughing 😂 great job guys!!!
The funny part is that was their words used in the original cartoons.

I love this example!

Wow!! This was, by far, one of your best episodes EVER!! 🎉🎉🎉
Rebecca: Your mom said WHAT??? to your fiance? I'm dying to know what his response was!

Good work - thanks for your efforts!
Makes me feel physically sick that they are using this duplicitous story to inoculate children. (and I love the Grinch Oaks pic!)
I love your version of the comic book. Your Dallin Oaks picture and assessment is right on.
Your additions to the story are brilliant!
The chuckling begins at 23:20.
Both gaslighting and inoculating.
Mind blowing.. and excellent as always!!!
If this doesn’t yell CULT I don’t know what does.
It can all be explained by temporary commandments.
Great point, Landon, re 4th-gr level and perception-of-lawyerly vernaculars being received similarly by TBM’s

Please publish your true version of polygamy as a children's book. Please. I will display it on my coffee table.
Your additions to the polygamy book made me laugh. Thanks for this!
Rebecca - DO IT - WRITE THOSE KIDS BOOKS. They will sell, I promise you.
Oh boy. The jokes were getting way funny but a little adult. Thx for the laughs.
This killed me y’all are too funny 😂
omg
This children’s/ESL adult’s story is a shameful example of the sins of deceit and omission.
This is a grooming tool.
The LDS church is looking more and more like Jehovah's Witnesses.
Perhaps seminary kids aren’t really expected too much of anymore. Are they still memorizing all the scripture mastery?

My guess is they hope people in your country never find out so they won’t translate it.

Is this for real??…. This is so messed up
