Im glad it's starting to change with newer animated films, but one of my gripes with lots of mainstream animation before is when the characters are in a completely different style from the backgrounds. Most of the time the backgrounds are realistic while the characters look cartoony. I like that with these films there's a nice balance where the backgrounds are just as jagged and abstract as the characters.
I know being a stop motion animator is not very common these days but man ever since watching all of Laika’s films…. I can’t help wanting to someday be one. Thank you Laika for all of your hard work, love and dedication you put into your art!!
Wow! I always noticed some similarities between Paranorman and The Boxtrolls, specifically the props. But now that I know the differences, Paranorman lines aren't supposed to be straight or parallel and Boxtrolls is supposed to look worn out and used. I can easily tell the difference between the two! Amazing Episode 🙌❤
my admiration for all the creators at LAIKA Studios is endless...I would watch the making of for hours and hours...(in fact, I already have! I'm glad there are more videos to enjoy. Thank you!)
As a kid, I always enjoyed Paranorman more than Coraline, which was definitely unusual at least with my friends, and I still like it more to this day. The point of this, is that I never really understood why or what about it, I could only say I liked how it “looked.” This video finally made me realize that it’s the contorted art design, there’s something about it that makes the entire movie for me. It just bleeds character.
Dude you guys need to be more appreciated, yalls works are amazing, and seeing the history and background of the movies you guys made is honestly awesome, the amount of detail you guys put in is unbelievable
I am not a fan of the Laika films-not my aesthetic-but I saw a display of some of Laika’s properties at my local museum and it completely blew me away.
He visto todas sus películas son todo un arte y bellas con historias hermosas . Yo vivo en México y aquí no hay juguetes oque pueda comprar . Me encanta y esperó con ansias la próxima película
Do you want modern Pixar? That's how you get modern Pixar. Seriously I'm so glad Laika doesn't treat their movies like franchizes but rather like individual works of art and when they finish one they move onto the next idea unlike the rest of AMerican movie industry that's stuck in endless cycle of reebots and sequels.
@@TryingToAnimate That's the point. The book was open endedbecause Coraline isn't the last one. This is a story that never stops and it's always the same. That's the point, we don't need another one.
i would genuinely watch an hour long version of each of these videos and probably still feel like they're too short
I am really grateful for internet and the chance to see these tiny works of art like you showcase here, thank you so much!!!its incredible 🤯
These aren't just models and props...each and every piece is a little work of art. I love seeing the objects from your archives. ❤️

This makes me so happy I don't know how to explain it.
So cool! I love that the props actually "work".
I would love to see a podcast by Laika about their past projects and from every part of the production team
I find all of your work extremely breathtaking. I think everything you do is amazing
The attention to detail is amazing!
Laika, I dare you to make a stop-motion TV series. That would be awesome.
They technically have back when they were called Will Vinton Studios. It was called The Pjs back in the 90s
I admire! How much imagination, what elaboration and detailing of every little thing.👍
I absolutely love these videos. I could watch hours upon hours of videos like this.
I love seeing all the small stuff super cute and mind blowing how they are made by hands !!!
I never noticed the anti-parallelism in these movies but it's very neat
I'm glad this is becoming a whole serie
Guys let’s give those people more subscribers they deserve this
I Love allí tour movies, every single detail, My whole life for a day Woking for you all for free.
Such fun seeing the tiny props, each so beautifully made. The drawings, as well, are awesome!👏🤩

Amazing props. Will Laika Studio publish a new collective artbook from all movies?
Great insights from an amazing talent!
I pray their archives don't go up in smoke like Aardman's did back then...🥺😞
Another great episode from the team of dedicated geniuses at LAIKA.....WTG
Watching those videos about all your work is amazing, it makes me want to learn to make props and all to work on Stop Motion projects
