18:40 Jadakiss is the one who stopped them when they were playing the record and told them that he was supposed to be on it and it was after he realized that it was going to be a big deal that he did his verse for the song. Just Blaze said “We approached Jadakiss and he was finishing his album at the time. That’s why the original version has no rapper. It’s funny ’cause I remember when the album came out, Jadakiss randomly happened to be doing the morning show on [NY radio station] Hot 97. They played the record, he stopped it and said, ‘I was supposed to be on this record but I couldn’t ’cause I was finishing my album. I slept on it. I didn’t know it was going to be that big [of] a deal.’ It wasn’t a priority for him. He had to finish his album. As soon as he realized it was going to be a big deal, he ran to the studio, jumped on it and sent us the files. That’s why the version with Jadakiss was on the deluxe version of the album.”
20th anniversary already? That was a fire album can't deny. I know he had my town on smash like for real bro. Dudes and chicks loving r&b. Them days are gone. No love around
This album has special place in my heart because my pops had a burned cd of this album and me my brother played the hell out of the album till this day and R.I.P my pops usher was crazy around this time it was like this was his thriller and I was big usher fan anyway so it meant so much
Numerous critics have named "Confessions" Usher's "Thriller" album due to the number of copies sold (15 million copies worldwide). This reminds me of the New Edition whose album, "Heart Break" is considered their "Thriller" album due to the record sales and major commercial success.
This album is a shining reminder of how much bigger and how much better the genre of R&B used to be in the world of music. I wasn't the music lover I am now back when this album came out but I can still remember how ubiquitous Usher was in the mid 2000s. Dude was one of the last of his kind and part of a dying era of megastars.
There’s mad albums better than Confessions. Nickelback All the right reasons, Eminem Curtain The Hits, Taylor Swift Fearless, Adele 21 & 25 all went diamond.
I was 14 at the time of this Album came out. This Album is a FOREVER CLASSIC. FROM BEGINNING TO END, NO SKIPS. MY FAVORITE SONG BURN CONFESSIONS CAUGHT UP BAD GIRL FOLLOW ME YEAH AND TAKE YA HAND. I TRIED NOT TO PUT THE ENTIRE TRACK LIST ON HERE
I love what you’re doing here clout….this album was and still is 🔥🔥🔥🔥.I remember back then there were stories about usher and chilli. I thought conressuins was really Ushers story. Side note I was having my confessions story around this time😂
6:42 OH MANMANMAN CLOUT DID IT AGAIN!!! This album is all teen years for me (8th Grade: 2nd semester) Being 13 YO, this album made an impact that STILL stands out til this day ESPECIALLY R&B MUSIC (2000s era) Confessions is a golden YET DIAMOND classic!!! From Throwback/Superstar/Simple Things to That's What It's Made For/Can U Handle It/Do It To Me, this has to be his best album if not My Way or 8701... One of the biggest selling albums but also timeless R&B music albums ever!!!! 18:23 Damn this could've been more classic
Man, I this was about a year after I broke up with my girlfriend. I'd come to realize that I'd literally been shot by cupid and felt an emotional yearning towards her. Ironically I'd just made it off with a new girlfriend and the previous year I'd made it all but clear that I'd moved on and dated several girls (some that my ex knew about) while continued to agressively pursue me (including personally speaking to some of these ladies). Long story short...I didn't feel it was fair to my new girlfriend so I broke up with her. Expressed my sporadic, newfound 'love' to my ex...including confessing a transgression I had when we dated. Spent the next month or two patiently showing her the 'new' me while I figured out whether my feelings were genuine or if I was on crack or something. I even wrote several, several pages of my innermost thoughts and sealed them up giving her the option to read them or not. I would hear all kinds of old skool love songs on the radio that I'd never heard of paid attention to before and send her lyrics (i.e. The Manhattans). This was her past semester, so she asked to stay with me for about a month that summer to take her last classes. I 'surprised her' and bought my first house (not her her but hoped she would appreciate the thought). She stated that she appreciated the 'new' me but could never get over me cheating so we never got back together. Honestly I think me 'wanting' her gave her the strength and courage to move on....or maybe I was too pathetic like a little puppy. Lol. I think Ordinary People by John Legend came out later that winter around Christmas. To this day when I hear Ordinary People, Confessions, or Me, Myself, and I by Beyonce which came out a year earlier I think of her.
So this album is the 2nd album I ever owned, but it was the first album that I went to Walmart to purchase. I was 9 years old. From the moment I pressed played, I realized I was in for a ride. Now 20 years later, this album still holds pleasant memories in my soul. Favorite songs: Superstar (should've been a single over Caught Up) Bad Girl Seduction Simple Things That's What It's Made For
Illegal downloading was at a peak because a lot of artists were making 14 song albums with 2 or 3 good songs. It was never a good feeling spending $16 for 3 songs. Usher gave the people what they wanted. An album that was a smash from beginning to end. Well worth the money spent & one of my all time favorite albums. Made at a time when R&B music was alive and well!
Confessions was the hottest shit in the streets when it dropped. That whole album was filled with classics from Burn, Confessions, Caught Up, Superstar, That's What its Made For and Yeah.. i still run that album back on the regular
Fantastic album . This is a masterpiece . I have the deluxe version. I love sll the tracks on confessions. Fantastic narrator. Who ever the narrator should narrate more abousloutley fantastic

12:18 Darrale Jones said “Usher and 50 spoke and they were supposed to do a song together. We ended up flying to Los Angeles [to] go to the P.I.M.P. video to play 50 the beat. 50 loves the beat and next thing you know, I guess 50 got busy, Usher got busy, and it never really came together.” The song Ride ended up on mixtapes, was available as a 12-inch club record and circulated on the internet in 2004. Usher was reportedly furious about Jennifer Lopez being given the beat for the song and said "I hate it, but I'd better get some of the publishing rights or else. I didn't put it on my album because I couldn't get it right. But I didn't expect J.Lo to just take it." However Usher isn't credited in the liner notes of Jennifer Lopez's album Rebirth for her song Get Right. Even tho the bridge that Usher wrote for his song Ride is used in Jennifer Lopez's song Get Right and sung in the same way as Usher's bridge from his song Ride. Usher - Ride "So much we gotta say, but so little time. But if tonight ain't long enough, don't leave love behind (Don't leave this love behind) Baby, take my hand and say you'll ride" Jennifer Lopez - Get Right "So much we've got to say, but so little time. And if tonight ain't long enough, don't leave love behind (Don't leave this man behind) Baby, take my hand, I'll show you why" In 2005 some D.J.'s were playing the two songs back-to-back, letting listeners hear both Usher and Jennifer Lopez going head-to-head over the same beat
24:44 There's another version of the song My Boo that surfaced on mixtapes in 2004 and it was thought that Beyoncé was the one on it but it's actually Kortney Kaycee Leveringston who's on that demo version ruclips.net/video/OTyoFfRu2uI/видео.html

Boy them Middle School dances in the Mid 2000's Usher's Music was played at all of them 😩🔥
Yessir! those were the days. I was in Middle School Fall 2001 - June 2004.
8701 & Confessions were the soundtrack to my Junior High years for sure.
First album i ever listened to front to back cd player days lol before i transitioned into gangsta rap as a kid this was the one
