This is a good reminder that living in a van is just regular life, except way harder. The goal of vanlife has to be bigger than that for people to be happy, whether that's saving money, seeing the world, going to the best places to climb, or whatever. People are biology wired to get use to everything and anything so we have to keep it interesting/unique/ challenging to stay fully invested and feel alive.

My comment is referencing living in a vehicle compared to living in a regular house. I've lived in both, and living in a vehicle is way harder. Every task takes longer and is more challenging in a vehicle. Decision fatigue is the norm. Never having a stable community or routine wears on you. Always having to watch your back because you live in public spaces, combined with the risk of robbery, accidents, and breakdown creates a low level anxiety. Having to constantly calculate water, food, electrical, and parking needs is mentally tiring. Living in a house is way, way easier. As far as work, she works a remote job. I have no idea if her job is harder than yours because I don't know the specifics of either of your jobs, your personalities, your emotional or mental health, or your physical abilities. You could be working 12 hour shifts sitting on your backside most of the time laughing it up with great coworkers, while she's taking psych meds and trying not to self harm because she's dealing with a toxic boss and jerks in her video comments. I don't know and really it doesn't matter. Life is not a competition. Everyone is struggling with something. No one gets a "perfect life" ticket.
Absolutely not. SUV living for 2 years and I don’t want any excitement. I want it boring and peaceful as possible. I have 2 dogs and a cat and it’s so tiring 😭

That being said, I have no idea why anyone would live in a SUV with 2 dogs and a cat by choice. Just the air pollution alone from the dirt, dander, and skin would be unhealthy. I can’t imagine the smell or the hair. It was tight with just me in my Santa Fe. You better than me.

I like Zion NP and Brice Canyon NP in Utah. Beautiful canyonlands if you get the chance! I've heard good things about Arches NP too, but I've never been there myself. To keep this short, she also said she thought she MIGHT consider getting a dog to travel with. So, I recommended your channel. Athena is the best, i never understood the bond between a dog and a person before i got a dog myself. They are A LOT of work as puppies, especially going from never having a dog to getting one, but so worth it to me. Eventually it doesn’t feel like “work”. About five years ago I travelled in the Lake Tahoe area with my van and there I met an older man (60's) that has been living in his van for the last 15 years. During the winter is he a guide at one of the ski resorts there in the area and in the summer does he work as a kayak guide in the Puget Sound, WA. And when he is not working he is scooting around on his dirt bike. Happy as a clam.
