I love this umm candi is now mrs.russo at my high school she is a really great vocal teacher n has taught me a lot since she started teaching me she gave me a lot of advice from her experience as a pop star
I had a crush on Candi when I was in High School in Toronto in the early 90s.. She had a great voice and I love her music. You don't get music like this anymore.
My father went to the state's during the 80s and 90s and bought a cassette and a Vinil of this great singer, when I was a kid it was so natural for me to listen to her and whitin the years I notice that I am the only one in Chile (South America) who has those jewels of album and it's a golden treasure in my collection from the 80s, and I must confess that she is so cute as well, what a great girl! Sorry for my English, I hope you could understand my point, greetings 😊
allegralouise , is your father David Shaw? I know he is a producer and he told me he produced this album. I havent seen him in a long time but used to in the early 2000's.
.did not much care for her back in the day...but her videos got alot of airplay on Much Music..ONLY NOW am I truly appreciating her and her talent..great voice and even though I did not realize it back in the day, her songs are really good and catchy.
Candi was my vocal music teacher in high school grade 9-11. That was back in 2008. She really taught me how to perfect my vocals, range and breathing techniques. She's really passionate about music and singing.
OMG! I used to be insane about this song!!! I loved it so much back in 1988 and still do! Another great song that makes me feel happy! It's also fun to dance and sing along with it! I've heard that she retired from singing and is now a music teacher in either Canada or New York. I can't remember which?!
Yes, she's now a teacher in Ontario Canada. On the other Candi songs posted on this channel some of her students talk about her, and what she's doing now. Thanks.
@joshwearetheworld I am 46 ( living in Montreal) this is the music I listened to back in the 80s... the 80s were a blast and the music was fun..give my best to Candi ( Mrs Russo) and tell her 'thanks' for the fun music she gave to us way back when..and we still appreciate & enjoy today.. :-) Happy Holidays ..Kirk..Montreal, Canada
I remember seeing her perform at Ontario Place back in.... well, maybe 1988 or 89. It was some Anti-Drug thing with non other than John Candy hosting it.. Good times.
This came out in 1988. Too bad I was only a little kid (4 years of age) when this came out. I wish I could have been a teenager in the 1980s and a young adult in the 1990s.
I was 17 in TORONTO when i heard tis song on 1050 chum am station..yes being a teenager in the 80s was fun. And 90s was great for dance and house music in the clubs
I can't believe it,There is this girl that lives in my building she goes to high school where Candi is now a teacher there.I ask her if it's true that the singer Candi is now a teacher at your school? she said yes.I told her I grew up listening to her when I was a kid and through High School. She ask me if you like I can get you her Autograph.Guess what after all these years today I got that autograph. Now I just need a picture frame to put it in.Now only if I can go to that school and meet her.
She just got into teacher's college just the next year I believe she did the second release of her next song. She was getting into being a math teacher back then in Toronto. Just to see she did follow through with her teaching career.
Holy cow. I remember watchng this video back in the 80s. I never liked the song much, but I thought Candi was super-hyper-cute. But now when I watch this I can't believe her jacket. Women wore bigger shoulder pads than football players did!
Not sure about Canada but in some countries ridiculous outfits were a tax write off as was the case for ABBA in Sweden. In this case i think it was just for show. Candi was a regular jeans and t-shirt girl as shown in this video.
Rebecca was just a nice ordinary girl that happened to win a competition that thrust her into the spotlight. Had she written and produced that song I'm sure she'd be deserving of more positive opinions. Candi and her team worked hard to get where they were. And really, when it comes down to it - anyone who rises above the ordinary deserves more respect, and fewer dislikes. :-) But thanks for adding to the discussion. It is appreciated. :-)
I saw a cassette of this album on sale today and decided to buy it blindly. I had a feeling it would be good because it looked good, and damn, I was right! This song is incredible! Can't wait to listen to the whole album soon! :)))
Oh I tried soooo hard to get that outfit and my mom worked hard to get me something similar and let me be a kid in spite of my strictly religious father. I was 10 and she was everything I wanted to be - confident, fun and full of energy. Hmm, I still don't have any energy or confidence but maybe I should just put this song on.
Very good points, and all too true about the changing times and tastes of the younger mainstreamers. Still, as in real life, the strong survive. But thanks to RUclips and other recorded sources we can still enjoy their offerings. :-)
I bought this when it first came out and still have it on the 7". I heard it was Madonna's Sister and only just found out TODAY that it's not. Lol only took me 26 years to find it out 😁
@joshwearetheworld Very cool. thanks for the update. Many people admire her, and love her songs. Tell Ms Russo she still has plenty of fans in the world, and many of them are watching her on RUclips. :-)
@singbecause There are still some CD's available on Amazon; and last time I checked it out, there were even a couple of Vinyl LP's left too! Good luck. :-)
Nice. I'm sure she appreciates it...and will most likely read these comments one day - especially with her students always telling her about them on RUclips. :-)
I have to ask, what is she like these days ? I remember having a bit of a crush on her when I was a kid, about 9 or 10 haha!! My mom used to listen to her a lot during this era. She was gonna take me to see her play at Canada's Wonderland but we didn't end up going for some reason.
@rhymeandreasoning I think you just gave her your best well wishes. I'm sure her students have told her about this channel with her songs, and comments, wherein she could see your words for herself. Have a great new year - from Calgary Alberta. :-)
Had I known back in the 80's you were going to be listening to this in 2013 I would have purchased a better VCR with HiFi sound and recorded it at the highest possible speed for better quality just for you. Your highness. I shall not delete your comment, so that others may share in the joy of your expressed attitude. :-) Thanks for commenting just the same though. :-)
Candi is a great singer and it was a supper great song in the 80s, my only question was who were the num-nuts always getting in her shots trying to make themselves important from the video?
@rhymeandreasoning Calgary's weather has been great so far. Not much of a snowy winter to speak of. Which usually means a wet spring, but green summer. If you're here in the summer stop by the Calgary Stampede & Exhibition. Plus we Drumheller and it's fab' dinosaur museum, the world's largest indoor Mall (West Edmonton)...and hundreds of other things to do. Welcome...and I hope you enjoy your time here. :-)
I love this umm candi is now mrs.russo at my high school she is a really great vocal teacher n has taught me a lot since she started teaching me she gave me a lot of advice from her experience as a pop star
Those who can do, those who can't teach... but wait she did do, and now she teaches... I'm so confused.
I think the tall long haired guy is Mr. Russo if I'm not mistaken.
@Envoy Yep
did she keep you after school ?
@@McMahonHater She married the drummer.
I had a crush on Candi when I was in High School in Toronto in the early 90s.. She had a great voice and I love her music. You don't get music like this anymore.

my dad produced this album/wrote a couple songs on it.. he is also the bongo player in this video haha
allegralouise , is your father David Shaw? I know he is a producer and he told me he produced this album. I havent seen him in a long time but used to in the early 2000's.
allegralouise tell him à big thank you. Does candi still teaches music
allegralouise Really? Wow.
That's cool!
Great Work, May you please ask him why This Album is not on Itunes or Spotify. I can't buy this anywhere
candi was pretty cute back in the day. anyone else agree.
"Dancing Under A Latin Moon" is another great song by Candi!
When MuchMusic was still cool and actually played music videos.
Well they do a thing at Christmas still, but yeah, I think it should be illegal to call yourself Much Music and not play music.
My 15 year old self is reliving the times....good times indeed. Thanks Candi and Company! You were awesome.
Back when MuchMusic actually played music videos and they were still 😎, I miss those days.
.did not much care for her back in the day...but her videos got alot of airplay on Much Music..ONLY NOW am I truly appreciating her and her talent..great voice and even though I did not realize it back in the day, her songs are really good and catchy.
That's just called nostalgia. I felt the same way with Britney
This song definitely takes me back. Remember sitting and watching them on Much Music, so many great songs from them.
Truly an underrated singer. All of her songs were yummy. I listened to and sang her songs over and over but I can't sing as well as her.
Omg!! I'm rediscovering this song after not hearing it for years and I still know the words, this is taking me way back
Heard this on the radio today and suddenly was transported back 30 years
I still love this song! Wish I could find it!
Candi was my vocal music teacher in high school grade 9-11. That was back in 2008. She really taught me how to perfect my vocals, range and breathing techniques. She's really passionate about music and singing.
Wow how lucky you are to have had her as your teacher. I loved her songs and videos in the late 80's.
My name is Jamie, I really love the 1980s music like this song from Candi. I wish the 1980s can start all over again.
So do many of us! :-D
I still live in the 1980s and early 1990s. No better era for so many things.
@@at7828 Last two truly COOL songs I heard in 2000s are "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley and "In the Morning" by Razorlight
Love seeing the old Much Music countdown graphics ;)
OMG! I used to be insane about this song!!! I loved it so much back in 1988 and still do! Another great song that makes me feel happy! It's also fun to dance and sing along with it! I've heard that she retired from singing and is now a music teacher in either Canada or New York. I can't remember which?!
wow, the whole of canada? that's impressive! most teachers stick to one room in one school in one city in one province
Yes, she's now a teacher in Ontario Canada. On the other Candi songs posted on this channel some of her students talk about her, and what she's doing now. Thanks.
Toronto Ontario Canada
Chris R LOL
@sghd606 I'm the participation medal.
Much Music.... such my good memory in Canada. Thanks for sharing.
Cant find this on Spotify. Big bummer. This is a huge hit.

I don't think the music, the clothes and the general vibe can get any more 80's than this :)
When I heard this in 1988 I thought this was Madonna. It's as good as anything Madonna ever produced.
Heard this for the first time in maybe 35 years on BOOM 97.3 Toronto.
I remember seeing her perform at Ontario Place back in.... well, maybe 1988 or 89. It was some Anti-Drug thing with non other than John Candy hosting it.. Good times.
This song was sweet and catchy!
Man i came here from the Intercontinental Album by Luxury Elite and Syllabus, and no regrets. Love this.
Damn...
This girl was just TOO CUTE for words!
*Sigh* I miss the 80's and all the great music.
They'll live in my heart and online forever!
Haha - looking for this video - brings back memories. A guilty pleasure indeed!
This came out in 1988. Too bad I was only a little kid (4 years of age) when this came out. I wish I could have been a teenager in the 1980s and a young adult in the 1990s.
Saw her in concert when I was 12
I was 17 in TORONTO when i heard tis song on 1050 chum am station..yes being a teenager in the 80s was fun. And 90s was great for dance and house music in the clubs
Random 80's reflection brought me here to listen to this classic...... Candi had Blossom Russo vibes!
Thanks for some amazing musical memories, Mrs. Russo...
You have a lifelong fan in Montreal!
The 80's music had some great lines in them...that was one of many! LOL
Candi rocks! This song is still good! :)
Oh, I remember this and probably have it in my "promotional only" for DJs collection of vinyls! Gotta look now...Major Props.
Would love to have her songs on cd! this track got a lot of airplay when it came out.

Good for you.
Go for it! It's not as creepy as it sounds, and even if it is, who cares... she's awsome

This song has been driving me crazy--in my head all day, and it's not on Spotify.
The Times when music was about Music and Love and Coming together.
I remember when she came to Clear Lake, Manitoba circa 1989.
stillll LOVE it in 2020!!!!!
“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Holy cow.
I remember watchng this video back in the 80s. I never liked the song much, but I thought Candi was super-hyper-cute.

bic papermate LOL :-D
+bic papermate Guys even had shoulder pads to as I remembered
She's my P3 Religion teacher.
+Nicholas Barnsdale is she still cute or does she weigh 300lbs now?

Oh I tried soooo hard to get that outfit and my mom worked hard to get me something similar and let me be a kid in spite of my strictly religious father. a local radio station just played this song. My brain was like, wait, what? I had to turn it up.

they may be cousins. both Madonna and Candi are of Italian descent . Madonna is related to Gwen Stefani though.
+Rhianna Barr then that means every Italian is Madonna's cousin...
+Horsemanpro63 Gwen Stefani is related to Madonna though. Gwen said so herself
Man ... the shoulder pads on this girl.
I was here when you uploaded this!
@joshwearetheworld Very cool. thanks for the update. Many people admire her, and love her songs. Tell Ms Russo she still has plenty of fans in the world, and many of them are watching her on RUclips. :-)
I like her so much back that time, her voice is so much like Madonna. The rhythm of this song is one of my favorite all time~
I went to high school with her in 85
I heard this song on Much Music's 80's weekend back in 1996.
The Canadian Debbie Gibson
Except Deb was a singer songwriter...perhaps a Canadian Tiffany

First place I seen her sing was a music store at Square One in Mississauga,Ontario,Canada
That's great...whatta small world this is. Lotta Canadian connections happening here. :-)
The Canadian tuxedos galore in this makes this awesome for posterity' sake.
Thank you for that information. It's great. :-)
I like most of her songs....
Love this 80s classic
Candi is my history teacher awks
Wow. So many people mention and talk about her being their teacher. Nice. :-)
Sadly, she moved to basils. We miss her at jcm, she was a really good teacher.
I have to ask, what is she like these days ? I remember having a bit of a crush on her when I was a kid, about 9 or 10 haha!! My mom used to listen to her a lot during this era. She was gonna take me to see her play at Canada's Wonderland but we didn't end up going for some reason.
Which school does she teach at?
Very interesting information, thanks. :-)
Her second album, after they changed the name to Candi and the Backbeat, "World Keeps on Turning".
i used to love this song.. almost forgot all about her lol
@DfunkShowzReRun Hey person from Calgary, Alberta :-) ...Hope to visit your part of Canada this year.. Happy 2012 to ya..Kirk..Montreal, Qc
I had this single and Under A Latin Moon
Loved them both but Candi had no success in the UK so don’t think we ever got an album release over here! 😩

Have a great new year - from Calgary Alberta. :-)
She was so cute.
Very memorable tune

2020 who's here 💚💚💚💚💚
If Snoop Dogg sang this song it would be called “Under your Spizzle”
When I was a little kid my auntie claimed that she wrote the lyrics for this song and never got paid or received credit.
Possible ..she Performed 10 minutes from my Home ....Expedition Park .... Prospect Road great show
Just a little modification of Into The Groove by Madonna
She was a unique jewel in her time. Glad the record company was able to record her sound and beauty. Thanks for commenting. :-)
She was truly Canadians version of Debbie Gibson
And just like that I’m back in grade 8
divinaaa!!
I like this song
@rickyogima ...and so was she! Oh, and the song too! ;-)
Very cute, and great singer too. Glad some of her music videos survived. Thanks for the comments.
Candi is a great singer and it was a supper great song in the 80s, my only question was who were the num-nuts always getting in her shots trying to make themselves important from the video?

Every music platform I have does not have this song on it. Gah! I’m so sad
@houstonsatyr I know what you mean. Glad you appreciate it, her, and the song! :-)
I really like her shoulder padded bolero
I said it before the 80's had the best music, somebody built a time machine already lol 😁.
