🕯️ Honouring Courage🕯️
On February 27, 2024, the Tibet Museum showcased a traveling exhibition titled “The Burning Question: Why are the Tibetans turning to Self-immolation?” at the main Temple in Dharamshala. The exhibition, inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Ms. Dolma Tsering Teykhang , will be open to the public until March 8, 2024, thereafter moves to temporary exhibition space at The Tibet Museum - Gangchen Kyishong till May 15, 2024.
Join us in commemorating the bravery and sacrifice of those who self-immolated in protest against Chinese oppression. Our exhibition sheds light on the burning question of why Tibetans are self immolating, what the self immolators want and a map showing the self immolation sites.
Through photographic exhibition, we pay homage to individuals who chose to make the ultimate sacrifice for their beliefs. Their profound courage echoes throughout history, inspiring solidarity and igniting conversations on human rights and basic freedom inside Tibet.
As we remember the 15th anniversary of 1st Tibetan self immolated inside Tibet (Kirti Monk Tapey la on 27th Feb 2009) due to martial law since 2008 people's peaceful protest that swept across the Tibetan plateau, let us reflect on the ongoing struggle for justice and stand in solidarity with Tibetans worldwide, amplifying their voices and advocating for a peaceful resolution.
Visit our exhibition to honour their memory and uphold their legacy.
