Hey Joe, nice video. Only recommendation would be to use safety glasses, particularly when drilling above your head, eyes are worth protecting, safety first!

CoolVideo Joe i do love Airstreams ! i’m not sure where or how i got this in my head but i though the Rivets had to be hand Bucked to match the Factory ones I’ve owned and restored severalAntique British Roadsters and to do a convertible TopReplacement the top needs to be secured in place with a Molding by Rivets i actually did my first replacement with my Father in1980 and i had that car for 14 years i beleive that top is still on the car although i’ve since sold it and Aquired other vehicles BTW Joe i actually have my Fathers Rivet Gun fromthe 1970s i use but i had to purchase a newer gun with a Rotating Head for repairing a Factory Ladder and Bow Railings on a Vintage Sport Fisher Boat i owned

I attemped this repair this morning. Drilling hole was a bit scary, but I used the drill that I had that fits the hole perfectly. And it was fine as exactly shown on this video. But when it was time to put the rivet, diameter of the rivet was too large, and it didn’t fit in the hole. Ours seems to be 1/8”, not 5/32”.I’ll find smaller rivets and try again.

Do you know if the rivets on the window guides at top are the same size and the skin rivets?
They look smaller but I don't know.

Do you have to drill a new hole? Can't you just install the new rivet in the same hole that the old one fell out of?

Do you have to remove the old rivet bit that is left in the hole before you replace the rivet? Or is that what drilling out the hole accomplishes?

Michele Liston that is what the drilling does.

Michele Liston ..incorrect, drilling out a blind rivet will leave the tail on the Inside. It will not hurt anything unless it somehow lodges into a moving part. If the tail were to come out with the drill then the hole has been opened too much for the rivet to grip properly. Another thing is recommend is using a "drill stop" so the not don't grab and plunge through. Clecos are another must have
