The judge is played by Patrick Troughton AKA The Second Doctor
Patrick Troughton! My favourite Doctor. Always good to see him pop up in things.
Yeah, he was always my favourite Dr Who.
Who ?
I agree, plus I also liked Tom Baker. I was talking to my brother’s granddaughter (keen Doctor Who fan) and I told her that I can remember every single Doctor Who including the first one , William Hartnell. She said “Gosh, you must be really old”. I then had to reveal that I time travelled to watch them all at the time. I wish that was true.
@@johnnyuk3365 I was born in 73 in between episodes 2 & 3 of the three doctors!
My earliest memory of the show was The Pirate Planet, by the end of season 16 I was hooked!
@@A.J.Clemente Welcome to a fellow Doctor fan. I had to remind myself about series 17 which was the Tom Baker era. Got confused at first because the BBC, Wikipedia, the Time Lords restarted the series number after the gap in the 1990-2000, so the current series with Ncuti Gatwa is also referred to as the 17th. Totally unimportant irrelevant fact by a geek.
In 2019 a woman from Georgia won $10,000 by reading the terms and conditions of her insurance policy that she took out for a holiday. The company put a note near the end of the terms and conditions to see if people actually read them. The note said the first person to contact them would get $10,000. (the company also gave $5,000 to both of the schools she taught in and $10,000 to the children’s literacy charity Reading Is Fundamental).
_No brown M&M's in the backstage area_ ~ Same method, different result!
Daniel looks like Bill Bailey. I didn’t realise until King Boomer said it. Now I think he’s the secret love child.
All the old shows - beautifully blended together. Call my bluff was the forerunner of WILTY. Fun stuff guys. Good luck to you both.
Based around an old US and British quiz, where a panel of celebrities had to guess the occupation of a member of the public. In the UK it was called 20 Questions. In the US all I can remember is a clip with Groucho Marx, must've been the fifties or sixties.
No, in the UK it was called "What's My Line?"
"20 Questions" was a different show.
so many comments about the actor who played the second doctor, but these always forget that Peter Cushing also played a doctor, just in a film
Supposedly not canon, so doesnt count. !
@@highpath4776 Definitely non canon, as they just copied the original two Dalek Serials from TV - The Daleks & The Daleks Invasion of earth, but the films are great fun though!.
@@JackLongbridge Also, the film doctor was a human, whose surname was actually "Who"! & he built his TARDIS himself in his back garden, and lots of other differences from the TV series.
hahaha, it's a collection of 1970s UK quiz shows. Ronnie B used to write nearly of the The 2 Ronnies sketches, he used to write sketches and post them into the BBC under the name Gerald C Whiley as a member of the public. At the script read throughs Ronnie B used to INSIST the used the Gerald scripts.
They are parodying several contemporary game shows of the time:
What's my line, Mastermind, call my bluff, blankety blanks, jokers wild, give us a clue & the price is right.
The judge's summation at the end is based on the end of the old time music hall show - The Good Old Days.
You are correct.
+ 20 Questions"
The joker might have been from It's a Knockout rather than Jokers Wild.
@@jamesdignanmusic2765 Yep, that's a definite possibility.
The passwords thing would count as cruel and unusual punishment.😁
Best of luck with the single, Spencer. Hope it all goes really well. And Daniel, I hope the dress-making is coming along. :)
I hope you do some 2 ronnies musical numbers. My favourite is the brass band
Correct me if I’m wrong anyone, but wasn’t this one of Patrick Troughton’s (The Judge) final roles before his death in 1987? Wasn’t this from the 1986 Christmas Special?
Has to be.
The UK Price is right didn't start until 1984. What through me off was how much younger he looked here than he did in The Box Of Delights which was also made in 1984.
I thought I had seen all the Two Ronnies but this one I must have been out of the room. Still funny x
Blimey this took me back to my childhood! So many memories of different gameshows that were family tv staples.❤
Just lighten up! Take everything you see as a SKETCH of fun. It is just for fun! You analyse everything when there is nothing to analyse. It is BRITISH Humour.
THEY ARE PARODYING EVERY QUIZ SHOW THEY CAN THINK OF. UNFORTUNATELY , MANY THAT YOU HAVEN'T SEEN.
It was a mix of several, charades, call my bluff, guess who, a blankety black ref, price is right,
Call my bluff,blankety blank
Its a parody of several UK game shows.
The game is call my bluff
What game show are they parodying?
Yes
don't get much of a chance to geek out about game shows, but this is right in my wheelhouse: this was pretty much every game show on british tv at the time-- it started out with "What's My Line?" (figuring out what he did for a living), then when the lights dimmed it went into "Mastermind| (which you've seen them parody before-- the only game show ever created by a P.O.W. remembering their getting interrogated by the gestapo), then went into 'Call My Bluff' (members of a team give three definitions of a word, only one of them actually is giving the right one), then went into "Blankety Blanks" (UK Match Game, Les Dawson and Lily Savage hosted the runs a lot of people remember), then the charades part was 'Give Us a Clue,' then it went into The Price is Right (yep, they had it there in the UK, Leslie Crowther hosted it first, Bruce Forsyth is probably the best known host of it over there), with the part about the prosecutor playing his joker was from 'It's a Knockout' (teams could play their joker before any event to get double the points from it. sideline reporter stuart hall got nicked by operation yewtree).
there have been a number of long-running British shows that had their origins in America, sometimes running longer there than they did here originally (Catch Phrase, Blockbusters, and Call My Bluff are ones that immediately spring to mind).
They're dead. They're all dead. It's so sad!
Would love to see you two react to a British game show like Bulleye can’t beat a bit of bully lol
Punishment should take a leaf from the world of information security training: in order for the accept t&c button to work, you have to score 80% on a test at the end
Daily. Motion. Two Ronnies. Bert & Charlie sketch
_Two nations divided by a common language_ ~ You're out of your depth guys and about to enter a WORLD of PAIN!
Quit while you're ahead.
Spence check your coffee bought on your music channel, forget the coffees but I asked a question, you can still play without violating your visa.
Good luck with the single Spencer despite having to endure some of your rants, I'd rather listen to you than some fake Christians in congress, I could mention.
If you don't know Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor, then you may know him as Father Brennan in the original Omen film.
Forgot the name myself & never knew he was in the original Omen film. Thanks for the heads up....yes i am from the UK,just time has shot forward so much since then.
Sadly, there isn't actually a "Rangoon Terrace" in Biggleswade (a real town, north of London). If there were, there should probably be a commemorative blue plaque on the front of #14. Though, as the town is expanding, perhaps a real estate developer with sense of humour might choose to give the town a road by that name.
Masters of comedy - The Two Ronnies.
The first scene was based ON What's My Line, where a panel questioned the contestant to find out his/her occupation. The contestant was only allowed to answer yes or no. If the panellists got a ten no's the contestant won. The joker card was used in a show called It's a Knockout where two teams took part in daft games. They were allowed to play a joker so if they won the game they got double points. This is a brilliant sketch.
I was not expecting an Amanda Show reference, then I remembered Spencer is about my age.
yes/no game , call my bluff. blanket blank,, charades called (give us a clue in the UK ) and the price is right
Best of luck with your new single, Spencer!
Couple more classic two Ronnie’s I don’t think you’ve done yet:
Racing Duck
Your nuts m’Lord
And some more niche personal favourites:
Tube Stations
Encyclopaedia salesman
Enjoy!
Your song sounds pretty good. I'll drop it in my Spotify playlist if you put Madison Galloway in yours, she's pretty good too 🙂
Could you guys react to the percy hobart video from fat electrician. That'd be great ✌
